Day one sacrifices do not have to be made. It’s cool to know the game you are playing was just released, but that’s now the draw of these services. What is the draw? The hundreds of games! It is nice to get in on the ground floor of a multiplayer game, but the the most popular of those have been going free-to-play anyway.

Rumor was that Microsoft paid to get priority for components. Margins be damned. Marketshare wins console wars.

I don’t get it. You phone is probably a more powerful gaming device than the Switch and you already have it. But no one has made a good game controller for phones like the Joy Cons for switch. So I guess I kind of get it.

This is rumored for PS+ essential, the base service you need to play games online.

It’s all about money. That goes for both Game Pass and PS+. So whether or not games come to PS+ on day one and whether games continue to come to Game Pass in day one all depends on growing the subscriber base and generating monthly fees that pay for game development. But I think this rumored offering merely reflects Sony’s long time strategy of deeply discounting games after a year in order to sell to a broad audience. Now it’s all about building that sweet, sweet monthly income from PS+. So ...

Deathloop went 1/2 off almost immediately after launch. Never high up on PS Blog’s download list. 7/10 for me, and when I mention that, no one defends the game. It’s ok for games to be one and done.

Microtransactions are still supported. Everything else has been left for dead.

Sony has a nice history of offering more than promised. Sometimes it’s more “free” PS+ games. Sometimes is the truly free Play-At-Home games. Sometimes it’s an amazing flash sale. Good on them for keeping their customers happy.

PS+ has been fantastic over the years but I have a feeling the quality of PS+ Essential games will go down just like Xbox Live Gold games after Microsoft launched Game Pass.

The cost between Extra and Premium is $20/year and both options are much cheaper per year than Game Pass Ultimate. If you ever want to play old games, Premium is a no brainer.

The author of this is getting old. Simple as that. We have more games of more genres than ever and new genres opening up all the time. But when you’ve played a lot of games you feel like you seen it all, that everything is derivative. Even the surprising ways people play multiplayer games becomes old.

Agree 100% with this ranking. The campaign in Gears of War 2 is among the most fun campaigns ever made. It’s been downhill from there.

All of these Microsoft PR pieces fail to mention that PS+ Extra and Premium are cheaper than GamePass Ultimate. $100 / year compared to $180 per year. Not an insignificant amount.

Speak for yourself. I buy 99% of my games on sale after release and PS+ Extra is still a better deal for me. Also worth noting that PS+ Extra and Premium cost less per year than GamePass Ultimate. There is direct value in saving money.

You wish the thing that someone made with their own two hands for their own enjoyment, which will never be for sale and that you could never buy, looked better?

We are still supply constrained and can’t see demand for what it really is. I am always curious about the breakdown of Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. I see demos like Starfield that look appear struggle on Series X, and I have to question how they run on Series S and whether Series S is really a current gen console.

Whales only make up about 5% of the player base. But for every $1 a regular person spends, a whale spends $100. These games are ridiculously predatory on people who can’t control their spending.

Doesn’t matter to me because I buy 99% of my games on sale or via PS+. Let the excited folks spend $70 at launch.

829d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yes. Just dollars and senses I paid $100 to upgrade my 3 years of PS+ and downloaded Returnal, Ghosts of Tsushima, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. these were all on my wishlist. So I’ve already got back 3 years worth of value!

But I understand that disc based, gamers and free-to-play players can save much, much more on games, and I respect their frugality.

The game media was handing 8/10 to Fallout 4 and looked like an uprezzed PS3 game and played like garbage. Even if Starfield is a dumpster fire, the gaming media will say it’s a great game for Game Pass.
