If you call Microsoft right now in North America, they'll say 'We have no plans to cut the price at this time'. The fact that they deny it means nothing, and the title of this article is shameless. The article should have been titled:

Microsoft: "We have no plans to cut the price ANYWHERE."

Well, I partially agree with you. I didn't take Sony's crap and I sold my PSP. My Nintendo DS has never given me problems and thus they have my business. I had a PS3 and my controller would cut out regularly. I asked Sony about it and they said that it was normal for Blue-tooth devices. Here's a transcript of their email:

I've seen nothing but flames. I remember when the hardcore 360 flamers used to be at it (TheMart, etc.) and that used to bring posts down. But lately it's been harsh. I don't mind people having their favorite consoles, but the comments on all the threads I've been on have been ridiculous. No company is perfect and they're all out for your money. There are great games coming out for PS3 like there are great games coming out for 360. The black-and-white is what's made me only come to N4G every ...

Actually, among my and my friend's PS2s, the failure rate was 100%. And all 3 PSPs I got had at least 5 dead pixels. But that's besides the point.

I never said that Sony's failure rates were as high as Microsoft, nor did I say that Microsoft's failures weren't a bad thing. I simply pointed out that Sony is not perfect either, but I still bought their consoles because I liked the games on it.

What pisses me off about Sony fanboys is that you're gonna hate the cons...

N4G has just become Sony fanboy heaven (was MS fanboy heaven for a while earlier this year). I actually used to like coming here before all the PS3 owners felt threatened so that I could have some really meaningful discussions about games. Now I get to read awesome time lines involving bigoted stories about 'Bill Ga(y)tes' and Peter Moore.

Something Awful was right, the internet DOES make you stupid.

Hey, I loved my original PS2, but the laser died (and I bought a new slimline). Come to think of it, none of my friend's first-gen PS2s made it all the way to present day without having had to be repaired at least once. Actually, one of my buddies used his PS2 as a DVD player and it broke 2 or 3 times. When I bought my first PS2, a guy at EB actually told me not to use my PS2 as a DVD player if I wanted it to last. First generation PS1s had similar problems with people laying the consoles on ...

In principle I agree. There's nothing out at the moment that would make me want to buy a PS3... unlike the 360. Now, IF the PS3 lineup is so great, we'll all buy one then: not now, but then. Because we're all supposed to be caring about games right?

Someone once said that the worst fanboys are always those whose beloved product is doing the worst. First it was the SEGA fans, then the Nintendo fans, now it's the Sony fans.

Look man, I don't want to get snarky or anything, but if the PS3 is so 'great', then why hasn't it been selling (maybe there's a spike this month, we'll have to see)? Obviously there have been problems since launch that don't have to do with hardware failures. I mean Sony's PR was terrible between Jan - May. Nothing but greatness is a bit of a stretch for any console.

Here's the compiled list of console exclusives as of June 2007:

As you can see, the PS3 is in last place.

See, what bugs me about all the comments here is that many people obviously don't give a damn about games. I guess they care more about companies? I don't give a rat's a$s about which console the best games are on. The Christie Cookie Corp...

There's no point comparing hardware for power - The PC wins hands down. The point is to compare which hardware platform is best for gamers. They chose Xbox 360, you may disagree. If raw processing power = greatness, than the Xbox and GameCube should have trounced the PS2 last generation. Wake up and smell reality.

Actually buddy, both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 have been dragged through the mud by the media. But the PS3 is the only one that game developers routinely come out and trash the manufacturer for (i.e. it's too complicated to program for and doesn't sell well). Buy the console you want, but stop pretending that yours has some kind of pristine reputation.

It doesn't break, I'll give it that!

And they've said in a podcast that the number is near or below the industry standard of 3-5%. Not anywhere near Xbox's of course, but normal by industry standards.

I sold my PS3 and bought an Xbox 360 because I looked at the games that were available, coupled to those announced and made a conscientious decision to switch brands. I'm not a Microsoft fanboy, hell I've never even played more than an hour or so of Halo!

Last console generation, I'd have no qualms agreeing that the PS2 was king. However, this time around, the PS3 isn't quite there yet. I'm not ruling out the possibility of getting a PS3 down the road, but there's not much out ...

Of course I'd need more games, but I think that the ones I like (Japanese RPGs in particular) are going to come in due time. What I really need is for Sony to stop screwing up.

The one thing I did admire about Peter Moore was that I wasn't super pissed off at him every time I saw him in an interview. He generally didn't make outrageous comments and he really made it seem as though MS was listening to what gamers wanted; and is bringing it to them. Sony, on the other hand, keeps...

But I also agree with the article that nothing in said show will make me want to buy a PS3. As people have been saying again and again, maybe we'll be really interested in Sony in a year or two, but right now the only game I'm excited about is MGS IV.

I have to agree with you. Sony's attitude about the PS3 has completely turned me off of their brand. People complain about how 'slimy' Microsoft is. I'll take Peter Moore's enthusiasm over Jack Tretton's or Kaz Hirai's ridiculous statements any day.

"RIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!!!!!"

I would like them to bring down the cost a bit (it's $60 per year here in Canada); however, it's much, much better than what the PSN currently has to offer. Now, in the future, should Sony step up to the plate and provide a comparable, free online service with way more demos and content (instead of sh!tty advertising for Sony's films) then MS will have to rethink its strategy. At the moment I think you get what you pay for... and as I don't have time to play multiplayer games right now, I'm n...

This is a Sony vs. MS site isn't it? However, what Sony said was that the controller had to be periodically plugged back into the unit and the reset switch (under the right trigger) had to be held down for a few seconds or else, after extended play, the bluetooth firmware could start to cut out. It happened over and over while I was playing Oblivion.

See, the thing is, unlike the fanboys I'd like to 'air out' these issues so that Sony fixes them. It's a really common complaint ...
