To be honest, they HAVE to make a big return on used games. They only make a very small markup on the initial sale.

If publishers took less the industry would be more stable, but the publishers have very little to lose if retailers go bust because either digital distribution will fill the void (where there is potentially more profit for publishers) or a new game retailer will appear to fill the gap in the market.

TBH I dislike both EA and Bioware right now so I just wont buy it at full price. I'll borrow it or get it 2nd hand for cheap.

I would buy it though for PC if they would bother to have usable mouse input but apparently that is beyond them (using an engine which is entierly capable of exposing full mouse input options, effectively with the flick of a switch). Also I refuse to use origin ever again, it's bad enough for BF3 and EA did a pretty good job of using that exper...

Er... maybe.

The FoV is chosen based on screen size and distance though... why would that change next gen?

Though I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of games this gen have had it low to reduce graphical strain (potential of less polygons/resources to be culled if the FoV is higher)

I know, they should let the player change it :/
Just like some other graphical things (multiplayer at 30fps is dumb for example, so why not allow lowerin...

joeorc you just described PC games sort of. (the whole license fee thing).

And, in actual fact, that is all this rumour is even about.

All they want to do is make a standard PC under their name, just like Dell etc.

It might be a good way to get noobs to realise that PC hardware and software is superior for use as a console to what a console would ever be anyway (except for the first few months after console launches when their harware is genu...

"as well as Ultra HD on the next gen consoles from MS and Sony. "

This will not happen unless they wait until ~Q3 2013 before finalizing the hardware (and I would guess the hardware has already been finalized for a while)

you don't have to

I havn't bought anything from Game or Gamestation for years now. They are nothing but a rip off anyway.

What tigertron said... (above a little)

TBH it'l probably never come out for PS3.

They have a small development team and they made the game for windows (and using directx for rendering) which means it is relatively simple to port it to 360 but almost impossible to port it to ps3 - it would have required a multiplat design from day 1; otherwise they have to reprogram 60-90% of the game which means all the complex rendering in OpenGL not to mention the totally different architecture that the ps3 has from 360/pc (...

I don't think "Blizzard" really give a damn. Game is ruined for consoles anyway so meh.

FF12 had some crazy long bosses, you know in the MH ripoff side mission things.

I never got to fight penance in FFX though because my damn save would always corrupt in that game after fighting dark ixion :S

"The publisher isn't going to deliberately undervalue its game. "

"I want to support the publishers for making it."

People really have no idea what publishers do (or... don't do) do they?

"I grow increasingly dismayed at the fact that I’m still paying the full price"

"I propose that gamers make more of a ruckus"

Yes. Don't buy their crappy product then.

"games like Geometry Wars clearly being the inspiration for indie hits like Braid and Limbo" lol what

4469d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yep, ty.

And then there are indie devs like Notch/Mojang who take your money in promise to complete a game then just run away after adding a tiny little bit of content very slowly... which demolishes any trust for that side of the industry too. Gah. And nobody can make a proper completed minecraft because everybody will say "ugh, copycat" and not buy it, even though minecraft has barely even reached 10% of it's potential and mojang are already moving onto a new ...

I can assure you that Valve are expecting a lot of console gamers to buy it which is why they are making it...

The natrual progression of graphics for a game from 2004 to 2011 should be a LOT bigger than that, making it pretty clear that they don't deem it worthwhile to put much time into the graphics because they are obviously aiming the game towards consoles which in turn means it will have to suck on PC (keep an eye out for that in Diablo 3 too, Diablo 1/2 gameplay is ...

I love the way GO's graphics are like 2% better than Sources.

F*n console port.

Anyway it's the gameplay that will matter more and I've no idea if it is even possible to improve it without butchering the game. Though there were some gameplay issues with the maps in 1.6 and source that can be rectified but why not just release alternate maps for Source with the fixes applied? (you know, to not annoy elitists ^_^)

Don't buy games from big evil publishers. (that's most publishers)
Don't buy overpriced DLC. (that's 99% of it)
Don't buy console games (sorry but it's true, the developers get their wage if they are lucky and that is about it - profits go to Sony/MS and the publisher), this basically applies to every closed platform (open platforms being: linux, windows, mac, ~android, ~ios etc.)

Then they won't be able to rip us off because they w...
