that video seems to have a different damage system. i can't tell if there's model deformation, but how come the "bestbuy" damage vids seem to be lacking the heavy scratches? It says 2009 TGS on the video description.
What's going on with the damage on the BestBuy demo build? Did PD scrap the idea from 09 TGS...
i'm assuming http://www.youtube.com/watc... that juniordee pasted is the same video, and from the looks of it, it doesn't appear as though the controller is broken.
@thief : i think there's this mindset in the industry that every ps3 game has to be perfect. they have to set some kind of bar or achieve something that's clearly impossible. And if it doesn...
Except in a real race, race car drivers don't intentionally slam their vehicle into the wall for destruction derby effects. They race to win.
@cwir: You know, sometimes I wonder if we can really trust the translation of game journalists. Did PD really say it'll be realistic or did the journalists interpret it that way? Just like that confusion over interior views, a portion of people construed it to be cockpit views while the other portion thought it to be inte...
i want my mechassault. ;-)
edit: a little wider and the kinect would be the same width as that girl's waist!
edit # 2: i hope you really don't have to stand this far to use kinect http://www.andriasang.com/e...
but anyway yea, MS give me a new mechassault and it'll be a wish come true for me. Better yet, get the ...
@mcstorm
do you even have a ps3?
Do people still care about PS2 bc at this point? Probably not.
Losing USB ports? Oh yes lost 2. That's so going to ruin everything. Pssh.
Memory Card Reader? How many people used this? Don't see new PS3 owners complaining.
Not being able to remove harddrive? Sorry buddy you can still do that.
Not being able to install Linux? Were YOU going to install Linux?
Chargeable...
if this were a ps3 exclusive, 95% of n4g would talk about how piss poor the graphics were.
i don't know what you guys see in this, but I agree with others when they say the graphics are goddammned horrendous. A bunch of washed out colors and super bloom. There are other multiplat games out there that look better than this (e.g., deadspace2, vanquish, dead rising2, rage, crysis2, etc). And what massive environment? A giant ship flying around in the air crashing into the statue of liberty while the rest of the background is the blue sky doesn't justify "amazing an...
I don't know about you, but that's one ugly game.
in a sense, Sony was going for 1:1 motion. Nintendo was going for gesture motion.
in my opinion, model deformation is a good enough real-time damage indicator than taxing the video game system to do real time physics calculations of damage that involve real time tears, crumples, and shattering of plastics, fiberglass, aluminum, and carbon fiber.
since you guys don't want anything to be scripted and be a set of precanned damage animation models. Because if it did, you all know fully well GT5 would be attacked for that too.
swear i saw this video in another article. what's with the approvals? I thought duplicate articles get trashed and burned.

I never said they invented it, I said that they deserve respect for creating the greatest gaming platform of all time. As far as I can tell nowhere in that sentence did I say Microsoft invented the PC, they just perfected the PC into the ultimate machine it is for games today.
I tell you PS3 fanboys look for anything to attack you on seeing as they have no substance considering their inferior platform has no benefits...
I think what annoys a lot of people like Steve is that there are people who criticized GT5 for not having damage that affected performance and also damage that affected it visually. When damage is finally implemented (such as in the video), these same people are now criticizing it for looking terrible.
edit: people are expecting this http://www.wreckedexotics.c... in a video game. You...
If you ever see the top gear episode where they featured a VW GTI fitted with a veyron engine, you'd see that the amount of torque on such a car made it spin on asphalt in place.
i saw a video of a guy driving a bentley trying to be cool flooring it on grass. He spun out in circles and his taillight hit some guy's VW.
Yes cars [can] spin like that at a perceived standstill when it's being floored and all the torque is just turning it in circles IN grass.
And how do you know if it doesn't sound like a blender? Have you ever driven alongside it with your windows down to know? I don't know many people that gets the op...
SanCon is nothing but Copy & Paste.
it wasn't like he was implying that.
you know what scripted is?
scripted is when the front bumper of your car touches the bumper of another car, and for a split second in slow-mo, you can see your deflector shields go down, and suddenly all these cracks and scratch marks appear all over the car. And less not forget to add some dirt and mud textures onto that for extra effect!
well considering damage in most other console games aren't directly related to actual physical model deformation nor does it directly affect the driving mechanics, I would say the damage in those games are just for visual fidelity.
There are some games sure. But when you say 'behind the rest', that means all other games. Of course you're gonna get disagrees for that. What did you expect? Mr. Obvious.
dang she still had to finish after that. i guess if she ever wanted watermelons badly, she'll know she can just headbutt them open.
