Blast from the past!
Playstation 3 version tested.
The past series of Silent Hill is almost as murky as the same town. The first games, celebrated by fans of the genre "survival horror"; foggy roads, crazy characters and terrifying enemies, was something never before seen in a videogame.
Over time, however, the series of Silent Hill entered a phase of decline, worsening sequels sequels, both in terms of narrative gameplay. Despite the success of the movie seen between 2006 and 2007, the videogame series continued to lose popularity.
After a long wait for Silent Hill Downpour arrived and I can say with certainty that these guys Vatra Games have the opportunity to breathe new life into this series now decadent.
Let's see if the boys together Vatra Games will be able to give an impetus to this saga.
TNS: “Nightmare fuel to say the least, check out the 10 most terrifying Silent Hill monsters, and what they symbolize.”
A breakdown of the best Silent Hill Characters that inspired and frightened gamers.
The sirens are sounding again, beckoning you back to the foggy ghost town as we rank all the Silent Hill games, from the chilling classics to the misguided missteps.
I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.
Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.
silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.
for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.
No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.
brilliant game
I think this is a bad game. Some of the enemies are just lame. There's one that looks like a caveman wearing pants. The frame rate drops a lot in some spots. The missions are confusing (not in a good way). When you find objects, in some cases you don't know what you're picking up because it doesn't tell you what it is you have to pick objects/weapons up to know what they are. The "choice" elements of the game are just lame and they feel like they break the game's pace.
There are a lot of pop ups and the character animation feels very stiff. The game sounds like Silent Hill, it looks like Silent Hill at times but it is not Silent Hill. I would give this game a 6/10.
Wandering around the town looking for side-quests and random buildings to enter is pure joy.
