if you dont comment or give this noname site hits they will have to try otherways to get your attention

dont give these sites what they undeniably want...hits by giving low scores or bashing sony

JohnnyMann4204441d ago (Edited 4441d ago )

I own a vita and 72/100 is a slap in the face.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

They really did nothing but talk up the system in the review too, so I don't know why the crappy score.

Here is their breakdown:

"What the console offers is impressive – and what it promises is very appealing. But if I had the choice between a PS Vita and a PS3 – the PS3 would win hands-down.

Indeed, even as I sat playing Uncharted on my couch, I couldn’t help but feel like I was robbing myself by choosing the hand-held over the big-screen, full-HD glory its bigger brother could offer me."

So in other words, the reviewer is an idiot. He is basically saying why should he play uncharted on his handheld when he could on the PS3.

Hey idiot, because it is a handheld. That is like bitching about a gaming laptop not being as strong as your desktop computer.

Can you play your PS3 while taking a crap? Can you play it in the car? How about while waiting in line at the supermarket?

Review it as a portable machine not a fricken console.

To answer your question, the review score was weighted by various categories, and the price is what brought the overall score down.

JohnnyMann4204441d ago (Edited 4441d ago )

The price is just fine. 250 is where the device should be. anymore and I would be pissed and any less I would have been surprised.

When Sony announced 250 would be the price, my first thought was "wow" that is exactly what I was looking for. I was surprised it wasn't more expensive (knowing Sony)

When you compare it to what you can get for 250 dollars devices on the market, There is no reason at all the price should have affected the score.

None whatsoever.

The Author lacks common sense.

qornea4440d ago

$250?

Oh, I see. You're basing your opinion on limited understanding of the context in which the price-point is weighted.

The *cheapest* PS Vita (console plus memory card) when converted from Rands to Dollars is $428 (R3200). Trust me, if the Vita sold for R1,860 ($250) - the score would have definitely been impacted positively.

Just because the price is right for you, doesn't mean it's right for other markets - and in our gaming environment, the price is a massive factor.

Hicken4440d ago

Questions of things like that are usually more complicated than just Sony setting a price. If it's like Brazil- and possibly Australia- then a large part of the price is due to the government.

Hell, it rarely equates to US$250 anywhere, and when you think about the fact that it costs about twice as much in Brazil, you should be counting your lucky stars.

I think you've got it a little backwards: it's not that the price is wrong FOR other markets, but that the price is wrong IN other markets. If you're being charged too much, that sucks, but I doubt that's in Sony's hands.

qornea4440d ago

@ Hicken

Yup - I know that.

What I don't get is how everyone thinks the review is bashing Sony for that - it addresses the PS Vita's position in the contextual market.

To quote the review:

"The PS Vita, with all its shine and pure appeal, isn’t without issues – though these issues aren’t with anything the console does or doesn’t do."

Everyone expects an 'on paper' look at the system - but unfortunately it's not as simple as that. In the context of the market it's launched in, in this case, the price is an important factor - and is reflected accordingly.

Though it's probably easier for people to disregard the context of the review, and simply take it in a way that best suits their own opinions - and that's fine too; welcome to the internet!

Rolling the Dice: Do Modern RPGs Miss the Point of Team-Based Play?

It seems it was long time ago. A bunch of friends spending hours on end playing RPG games, sitting around the table with the box of cold pizza. Excited about the story, listening to the Game Master, they were completely engaged in the worlds only visible to them and their imaginations.

The GM is the programmer, and in MMOs and co-ops, you can play with others. If you want to ONLY use your imagination for the visuals, read a book.

1) Hope they put it on disc this time.
2) Hope this is a positive for Neptune coming over as well.

Demons Souls5071d ago

If so, that's being developed & published by Idea Factory. Compile Heart has nothing to do with it (Thank God for that).

Godmars2905071d ago (Edited 5071d ago )

Thought Compile Heart was one of the companies lending characters.

Was also speaking in general as in regards to a US of Neptune. If these guys are offing a second game, NIS or Atlus, both of whom offer quirkier titles, will put that one out.

@kagon01:
My issue isn't - wholly - with the DL-only option, but the price. The first game should be $30. Maybe $40, and by that I mean $39.99. The only reason its $45 is the 360 disc version which has extras. Nevermind that by all rights its a PS2 game. Something that proabbly could have been done if the devs had the GOW2 engine or tools.

ClownBelt5071d ago

I approve of this god damn message.

Could have gotten my 60 bucks if they just put it on a disc.

Jack-Pyro5071d ago

Is this a half decent SRPG, porn aside, cause if it is, i might just decide to go and buy it for the 360.

Anon73495071d ago

There's no porn just some sexual innuendos but that's it.

Also it is a great game by itself, maybe not graphically but everything else is top tier.

RedDevils5070d ago

so it had some kind of "top tier" porn story jk

ThanatosDMC5070d ago

Yup, it's a decent game. I just hate that a move has to go first before any attack options.
