The Heroes of Might & Magic series has not made an appearance in PC-gaming since 2006. With its founding developers, New World Computing, having left the franchise since the fourth installment, the series has had a tough time meeting expectations of the originals. HoMM5’s developers, Nival Interactive, had to follow up from a very well-received franchise; in the end it managed as a worthy title with some favorable (and unfavorable) tweaks. For this sixth installment, Black Hole Entertainment (in collaboration with Ubisoft), has brought the franchise back with sharpened visual polishing and intricate changes to the delicate formula. In this modern era of gaming, where veterans argue that games don’t opt to challenge players much anymore, how does Might & Magic Heroes VI hold up? In a nutshell, MMH6 performs well, but knocks over a few hurdles here and there.
