Uncharted 3, has it really gone gold?

They usually base how many games they print off the pre-order numbers (obviously leaving some copies for people to buy in the subsequent months). So if it goes gold, it means they got significant pre-order numbers because they wouldn't have printed so many discs if it isn't well sought after.

That doesn't really pertain to what I was asking Parapraxis. He said he doesn't pre-order, he buys games at stores, as if pre-ordering doesn't lead to buying the game at the store. Also, he said going gold doesn't mean anything to him, because he doesn't pre-order. Either he doesn't know what going gold means, or something was lost in translation.

It has to go gold within a week or so to make its release date. Usually a month is required to press and distribute enough copies of a game like this.

going gold means the game has been completed and all they are waiting for is to ship the game. They received th ok from sony and is not in production anymore as far as finishing the game.

Actually you should care, because when a game goes gold that means it's it will make the release date. So until that point if something goes wrong the game can still be pushed back.

Lol how is this news? The game comes out in just over a month, and games usually go gold a month before release as they need to have everything printed and distributed before the release date.

Its like some of you think that "going gold" is some sort of term of achievement lol. It's not like when a game goes "platinum/gold/etc" because it's sold 500k copies, it simply means the game is 100% complete and has been sent for publishing.

It's news, just like "Uncharted 3 will fill a 50GB disc". We didn't know about it before, so it's new, therefore it's news. And no-one thinks of going gold as an achievement - only you could make up something like that. It's a milestone!

I loved Uncharted 2 multiplayer but I got into it late. I planned on playing a lot of this multiplayer but I didn't enjoy the beta as much as I hoped I would. Either way I'm getting the game day 1. Il give the multiplayer a go but it's really all about the story to me.
