So motion controls have been here for a while now, in the form of the Wii controller and other consoles attempts to emulate its success using their own formats (Playstations Lollypop and Xbox’s Kinect) with many more specialist devices coming out linked to health programs (which we will be covering in another article) in order to cash in on the new sensation of moving your arms and standing in front of your console. The PC so far has not settled on its own version of the devices but with hackers already rebuilding the Kinect’s software to use with a normal PC, it shouldn’t be too long before Microsoft decides to release the files and let desktop jockeys join the revolution.
A group of surgeons made headlines after they managed to perform an endoscopic procedure on a pig located in Hong Kong by using PlayStation controllers. It involved the use of a PS5 DualSense controller as well as a PlayStation Move controller.
That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.
Air Conflicts: Secret Wars debuted in 2011, and later updated for modern consoles. However, it's the PlayStation 3 edition that stands out.
Joy Ride Turbo launched 10 years ago today. The first title was Xbox Kinect exclusive, yet this sequel failed to support the device at all.
I don't want motion control, lag-free buttons ftw!
I really want a proper boxing game! One that you go toe to toe with other fighters online! It'd be awesome if there was like, a hologram of the other person that you could 'fight' so you weren't just battling an image on the screen!
But, alas, I don't think motion controls are quite at the stage for that! Until then, I really don't mind! Anything that can get my aging parents off the couch is more than enough for me :).
xx
What do I want from motion control?
I want motion control to leave Xbox and Playstation and never return.
I want shooting games and sword fighting games.
How many of them do we have? Hardly anything, and those that we have are shit.
I want a sword fighting game that can detect every movement
