BeefJack: "Not like that: get your mind out of the gutter. Having struggled through most of the Japanese release of Atlus’ erotic horror puzzle game, we can tell you why CATHERINE is a lot more intriguing than its saucy cover art suggests."
Plenty of unforgettable games have completely messed up their players throughout the years, all the way back from the PS1 days to the dark recesses of the modern internet.
Deadly Premonition is a pretty weird game, but all of these absolute oddities are even weirder.
Paul writes: "Games can be many different things to different people. The subject of this Looking Back article is something a little different however, as it deals with infidelity and the fallout that comes the way of the straying main character. Intrigued? Well, come with me to the weird world of 2011’s Catherine!"
"At the moment, though, Catherine feels as if it’s almost a work of genius. I don’t feel qualified to give a definitive verdict just yet. The production values are undeniably excellent – with Atlus’ typically strong art design, great voice acting and score – but I only know a few words of Japanese. "
This game has me intrigued. If reviews turn out good I'll pick it up.
Only wish we could play it with Japanese language and English subtitles for the upcoming release. Maybe as a free DLC?
