Two Worlds is One Big Hit

No it's not a million seller, but considering Two Worlds was released in a month with BioShock, Madden 08 and Metroid Prime 3, it certainly held its own. GameDailyBIZ takes a look at Polish developer Reality Pump's "Oblivion imitator" to see what went right for this massive RPG.

was this game any good, few people on my friends list had it, i know it got some bad reviews but i would like a opinion of someone who is a rpg fan like my self?

Its not horrible.
A fair score would be a 6.5-7.
Not great, but there are some fun things to fool around with. The object combination and elemental gem upgrades are nice gear-boosting mechanics that deserve being copied in other RPGs. Its no Oblivion but they had the right idea is several areas; the coding just fell a bit short for an action RPG and the story fell well short of a pure story RPG.

Two big problems:
1- voice acting runs from decent (at best) to hilariously awful. Brits in particular may be offended by some of the fake accents. ;-)
2- the graphics are too ambitious for the game engine and the frame rate rarely hits 30. Generally it seems to run in the mid 20's. If you aren't sensitive to flicker--I'm not--its playable enough to fill the WRPG void until Mass Effect explodes next month.
The game itself plays out a lot like Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance but in Oblivion-like wide open world.
If the game were selling for $30 it might rate a bit higher (7.5) but at $60 you have to be a real RPG fan.

The good news of the decent sales is that maybe they'll be able to afford to code a patch for the darn thing. If you do get it (I rented before buying) remember to flush the cache every time you start (holding the green button until the Two World logo appears).
Once I started doing that the game's instability went away.

I played the game on the PC and the Xbox 360... I could not stand it on either platform.

It is not horrible, just not fun. And if I am playing a game, I want it to be fun.

Speaking of fun, I am back off to play the Hellgate London beta some more.

This game was fun. I didn't have any problems with Lag but it did freeze up three times in about 40 hours of play. I had the same issue with Oblivion. The quests are fun and there are usually several in each town you can run. The story is good and your able to follow it fairly easy. The leveling can be fun as you can put your points in the area that you like. If you make a mistake there is a way to free up points so you can move them to a different skill.

I think part of the reason it sold so well is due to the dearth of RPGs on the 360. There just aren't that many of them (though Oblivion is two or three games worth of greatness in one package).

Glitches aside, it's not a bad game. I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.

But hey, Xbots buy anything that says "achievements". I hope that one day Microsoft gives a 500 point achievement to anyone that eats Bill Gates sh1t. But hey, some are already doing it for free... what, with RRODs and all.

anyone else find it funny that one the the 360's worst rated games still sells just as good as ps3's best like heavenly sword which only sold like 129k its first month... haha

and would say it's fair to poor. Several concepts in the game were neat, like stacking and perma-potions, but in the end you could become far to powerful making the game boring past level 35 or so. Loved the graveyard taint effect. The framerate was ignorable, but the voice acting was too grating to ignore. It took far too many hours just to figure out the very cluttered and poorly implimented inventory system. The skill system, except for lock picking and the magic schools, was useless.

Oh, and until you got past level 10, you basically were going from body bag to body bag.

Its is a very addictive game and IMO the world feels more alive than Oblivion, There's not as many features as Oblivion but 2Ws takes the good stuff from TES and leaves the pointless stuff out.
MP is crap Im on a 4Mb connection and when there's 2 people in game you start to get lag, and we're talking LAAAAAAAAAAAAG, Tried playing on a friends 20Mb connection and 2 people ran ok but 3 people and old friend LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG came back to play.
Overall you get the feeling that 2Ws was rushed out the door by the publishers as the game was ment to be released last November. Thats not a bad thing as it still is a very enjoyable game. The thing Ive discovered is that the old players seem to love it but your young fast food generation don't for the fact this is really an old school RPG and doesn't have any of that hand holding like other RPGs, by hand holding I mean the constantly telling you what to do. This game makes you think a lot more and you need a little patients but the rewards for it are great. If I was to compare this to any other RPG it would be Morrowind.
As Im an old school RPGer Id give this game 7.5/8 10 but if your RPG pleasure is just to be able to rush through without any real thought Id stay clear of this game.
