We’ve been letting fans get some of their first hands-on gameplay with Resistance 3 and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. We’ve also been showing cool demos and producing Q&As to bring you in the form of Full Moon Show podcasts in the coming weeks."

Sony really seems to be pushing both the Move and its Sharp Shooter attachment. I'm still partial to the analog sticks. Is anyone a diehard PS Move user when it comes to FPS games?

ksense4929d ago

i am getting the socom bundle with move and sharpshooter for a good deal so this is good news!!

eggbert4929d ago

I've tried the Socom 4 BETA with Move, and it works better for me than the dualshock IMO. You can make the aiming reticule move VERY fast, faster than a dualshock's movement goes.

Only downside is the turn speed's max setting is still fairly slow, so it's kind of weird since you gotta adjust to being able to aim very fast, but turning at normal speed.

On Killzone 3 I preferred the Dualshock over the Move for a couple of reasons. First they made the melee movement way to exaggerated. You need to stab forward pretty far before KZ3 recognizes you are trying to melee. If you miss, your reticule will be all over the place from the stabbing motion, and you often lose sight of the person. The Socom 4 motion is much smaller, but not small enough that I ever accidentally melee'd.

I did like KZ3's faster turn speeds though.

specialguest4929d ago (Edited 4929d ago )

If the PS Move could be properly implemented into a FPS like how KZ3 did, then I would almost always use the PS Move over the DS3. As for the Sharpshooter, I would only use it for single player campaign mode.

Bathyj4929d ago

Dude, I dont ever want to play a FPS without the Sharpshooter again.

Unfortunately I have to, I just got Homefront and Crysis 2 is on the way, but this is great news to me.

I keep telling people, playing a FPS with a SS is the equivalent of playing GT5 with a good wheel. You can use a DS3, but why would you want to? The wheel is so much better, and the DS3 simply doesn't offer the same level of control or immersion.

To be honest I'd rather Sharp Shooter support over mouse support. To me, it makes the game that much better.

Games need a calibration button though.

Rainstorm814929d ago

4 player co-op with the sharpshooter will bee quite a experience, but i agree specialguest Sp or co-op onnly for me id have to master the PSmove + sharpshooter to dare get online with it.

Off topic:
Sony's motion control isnt the hottest selling item but it does arguably have some of the best games for it, out of it motion competition.

I finally started playing Killzone 3 multiplayer a few days ago, and I'm just so much better and more confident with Move + Nav Controller (just holding one in each hand without any fancy plastic attachments) than I've ever been with a gamepad in shooters.

Granted, that's still far from great :p, but my aim is much more accurate and quicker with Move (lining up shoots quickly with the analogue sticks on a gamepad has just never come easily to me) - and I don't even feel my turning speed and turn stopping precision is a compromised compared to a DS3 as I had expected it would be.

The gesture based melee has been a problem for me though - it's too slow - but I believe they are adding that as a button option in the next patch.

Overall I'm having a hard time imagining every wanting to play a PS3 FPS again without Move controls.
Hell, I'm currently trying to play Crysis 2 on PC, and despite spending 6-8+ hours a day in front of a PC, my aim with mouse and keyboard stinks compared to Move + Nav Controller :).

Pillage054929d ago (Edited 4929d ago )

I wouldn't consider myself a diehard ps move user with shooters, but I will say this. In a time where the shooter market is just FLOODED with title after title. Playing KZ3 single player with the move was a great break from the norm and felt really different to me.

It's not here to change the game, but it is quite a bit of fun and just something different ya know. I still play mp with my ds3 though.

badz1494929d ago (Edited 4929d ago )

nice to hear Insomniac is catering to MOVE as well! FPS with MOVE is pure awesomeness! if you still are unconvinced, you haven't played enough! 1-2 hours of KZ3 and you'll know I'm not lying!

edit: @article picture

Ted, that thing you're wearing is not for 3DTV! come on...hahaha..

malamdra4929d ago

awesome

I was planning on buying a 3DTV for Uncharted 3 but now I might buy it two months earlier because of this

Silly Mammo4929d ago

I'm immediately interested in this title where I didn't give two shakes a minute ago. I love using the Move for FPS's. It's on my list of must-buy titles.

KZ3 is fantastic with the Move and Nav controller.

pain777pas4928d ago

Wow! You guys sold me on the nav controller which will be coming home with me tomorrow. LOL! Judging by the amount of agrees I think that I have to do this.

I bet it will sell less than Homefront. Or a million or so life time sales.

@Bathyj
"I bet no one cares what you think."

Likewise, haha rofl!

Bathyj4929d ago

I bet no one cares what you think.

solidjun54929d ago

I bet you're going to use your alternate account.

ELite_Ghost4929d ago

lol really 1 million?

is ur IQ like 1/1million by anychance?

badz1494929d ago

just let him plays with the sales game! what else he can do when there's no exclusive to brag about? always remember; don't feed the TROLL!

Solid_Snake-4929d ago

agreed countdracula.

and have you realised if you talk bad about ps3 in here you end up with 1 bubble.

pathetic fucking fanboys in here.

its funny how the two people who dare to talk out against sony in this article have 1 bubble each or is that just coincidence. lol

mendicant4929d ago (Edited 4929d ago )

@badz149,

How many of those exclusives are in the top 10 best selling PS3 games? How many of those exclusives have contributed to Sony keeping it's top spot and mind share?

I love my exclusives just as much as the next guy but the importance of them is way overblown. As gamers, yes we want to see them. As corporations trying to make money, it's not worth it and that's reflected in software sells. Sony has a butt load of exclusives that hasn't helped them at all.

tigertron4929d ago

@ Xbox-threesixty.

I can't say I'm surprised why you have 1 bubble. The fact that you're trolling right now and have a suspect username.

solidjun54928d ago

Like I said...alternate account.

badz1494928d ago

you said "as gamers", but what you really care about are their sales? that really doesn't add up very well!

try this for instance, as a gamer, which 1 would you prefer; between 2-3 exclusives a year that is selling millions each vs MANY exclusives from different genres but probably won't be selling over 3mil each? I'm not an investor, not even a game store manager to worry about how many these games are selling! as a GAMER, I'm just happy I have MANY games that I can choose!

xfanboys can bash any PS3 exclusives all they want but in the end, PS3 owners have more games to choose from then them!

Move support is a great addition, i love the sharpshooter.

ReservoirDog3164929d ago

Well, there's finally a reason for me to go out and buy a Move now. Been wanting it but I didn't plan on getting any games for it till now.

So, yay.

And boo 3D.

TheLastGuardian4929d ago (Edited 4929d ago )

Awesome, I knew this game was perfect for Move. Now I just need a 3DTV.

Thank you Insomniac for being such fantastic developers. Thank you Sony Computer Entertainment for having such amazing devs work exclusively on the best console ever. The PS3 baby! It's a damn shame that Insomniac is going multiplatform.

Killzone 3 and the Socom 4 beta work great with the Move. I can’t wait to try it out in R3. Resistance 3 comes out on my birthday so I know I’m getting it day 1.

Day one! Now i hope BF3 will support move too!

SwiderMan4929d ago

September 6, 2011...hopefully.

TheLastGuardian4929d ago (Edited 4929d ago )

That's my B-day so it's garunteed if it meets that release date, I will be getting it day 1. I can't wait. I loved Resistance: FOM R:Retribution and R2.

I was already super hyped for Resistance 3 and now I'm even more excited to play with the Dualshock and/or Move/navigation combo. It's gonna be even more sick than the Killzone 3 campaign with Move.

Burning_Finger4929d ago

SONY loves spoiling their customers..

SixShotCop4929d ago

I was just about to comment, then i noticed your bubble count. Makes sense.

Megaton4929d ago

Yeah, I'm sure the community was clamoring for Move and 3D support.

Patrick4929d ago

Yeah, I was too. The Sharpshooter is awesome and the immersion of the 3D with that is a totally different experience. I cant wait for Resistance in 3D.

Resistance 3 is such a great game. One of my all time bests.

cooperdnizzle820d ago

Couldn’t agree more. Still love It as a shooter to this day.

Just something about that game. I really wish they would just do a remaster, don’t even need a remake just bring it up to todays out put, touch up a few things if any, and I am there to buy it day one.

Of course I would love a remake built from the ground up. As long as they treated it like Shadow of the Colossus, or close to those type of remake. Wouldn’t want it to get the RE treatment…. Just because the game is already paced so perfect and hits all the right beats that I wouldn’t touch that aspect.

My take:

Single player
3, 2, 1

Multiplayer
3, 1, 2

Overall
3, 2, 1

I beat the lengthy single player in 1 multiple times and spent hours in the online too. Plus 1 featured my home town! Special mention to the audio design in 1: playing that with surround headphones blew me away.

Note: I have the platinum for Resistance 2.

Eidolon877d ago

Resistance 1 MP will always be my favorite. Call it nostalgia or whatever, but that was my jam, felt more balance, natural.

Miraak82 877d ago

i have the platinium too , 10k kills in online ranked matches was no joke . Took me 3-4 months straight grinding but it was fun . To put it in perspective you only got like 25 kills per match if you were 1st place every match that's at Least 400 matches in 1st

Sciurus_vulgaris878d ago

I only played the 3 main Resistance titles. My ranking would be;
1. Resistance 3
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Resistance 2

GoodGuy09878d ago

Man I loved 3's campaign. Another gem stuck on the ps3 and who knows if insomniac will go back to the franchise.

fr0sty877d ago

Resistance, Warhawk, MAG, Motorstorm, there's so many first party gems on PS3 that Sony has just left to die...

P_Bomb878d ago

Never played Burning Skies but I still have Retribution.

monkey602877d ago

Burning Skies was about 3 hours long and rather inconsequential. You haven't missed anything

porkChop877d ago

Honestly, Burning Skies was shit. There's no two ways about it. At first I thought it looked terrible, then I second guessed myself. Big mistake.

darthv72876d ago

Retribution has this really cool feature where you could use a PS3 to link a controller to it and play. So if you had a 2000 or 3000 hooked to a tv, you can use a real controller. All of this predates the PSP Go's ability to sync a sixaxis to it via bluetooth.

Yui_Suzumiya877d ago

Resistance 3 was shocking and brilliant. Loved it.
