GamesRadar: Catherine Import Review

Between the arbitrary difficulty and limited lives, Catherine feels more like a port of an old-school arcade game than a modern AAA title. The inclusion of an 80s style arcade demake of the puzzle sections seems to indicate that Atlus knew quite well that its game would be perceived as such. As amazing as the game's story is, it's hard to recommend throwing down $80 plus on an import copy of the game, when the English language version is just around the corner and will probably include the upcoming difficulty patch on the disc.

damn indeed.

Lets be honest kiddies... skip the game and just youtube the softcore anime porn scenes.

That is the only reason people care about the game.

ShinMaster4801d ago

Not really. I was looking forward to the story.

Don't worry, there was so much hype about the game that people will still buy it despite it's rating...

BTW, if you want it but you want to save some money, wait about 2 weeks and you'll be able to get it supper cheap because of all of the trade-ins.

AntoineDcoolette4801d ago

If by "Super cheap" you mean $55 instead of $60 at Gamestop then.... lol

DangerTick4801d ago

I knew the demo was bad but this pretty much confirms that I'm not going to buy it. I might rent it but supposedly it's releasing on the same day as The Cursed Crusade so it will probably be a little after that (if at all).

great game, cool story and really nice humor and graphics
not a 5/10 game, more like 8

So, let me get this straight:

"This game is too hard and punishes you for dying. It's crap, 5/10."

Seems like the average review nowadays. U.S. version should at least have the super-easy modo for these guys to stop complaining, though.

Look, the guy even says it: "Between the arbitrary difficulty and limited lives, Catherine feels more like a port of an old-school arcade game than a modern AAA title."

That's the idea, silly reviewer! See, this is why I hate reviewers sometimes. They make out obvious designs and mechanics included in the game to be flaws, ignoring the fact that it was the idea in the first place.

In other words,
US gamers = if it's not so simple a caveman could do it, I don't want it.

He had some valid points, the "gameplay" is frustrating and uneven and that what made the difficulty broken and unenjoyable that what he wanted to say I guess, even famitsu wrote about that issue, but on the other hand he praised the story and the characters see

you should read between the lines and be more clever next time you post sir.

This is in no way a 5/10. Easily a 8/10

Looking Back to 2011 and the Morality Tale of Catherine

Paul writes: "Games can be many different things to different people.
