Killzone 3 Played With Move and Without Crosshairs - This Guy Absolutely Rocks

A dude played Killzone 3 with PlayStation Move and without active crosshairs. And yes, he rocks the Multiplayer mode. Check it out.

so you have to twitch all the way to the left or right to turn left or right?

StoneyYoshi5237d ago

no. it depends on what you set your deadzone to.

Downtown boogey5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

The representation of dead zone in the menu is BS. I still have to point almost all the way to the edges of the screen for my character to start turning when I have the Dead Zones set to 0%. It nearly seems like adjusting it does nothing!

krisq5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

I think that jetpack section in single player demo is the only place where it actually works :)

Viper75237d ago

@Downtown boogey

check iWaggles demostration of how the move controls work in Killzone3. It shows pretty well that the menu representation is pretty good, but there's this special system that helps aiming after turning.

Downtown boogey5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

lol @ the disagrees

Bet you guys haven't even played it!

Thanks Viper! Didn't know there was one of these made on KZ3 already

Trizard5237d ago

@Downtown,
I know right, every time I say I have issues with the controls, I get disagrees. These people obviously must not be playing with move. The DS3 is so much better for any shooter imo. While the move is fun, it just doesn't feel right.
The video above is just a clip of some guys kills with the move no crosshairs. Notice how it shows no deaths and the guys aims like a blind 4 year old. He got one (at 0:21) by shooting a guy in the legs from behind. Im really, thats not an amazing kill and this guy does not absolutely rock because I bet if this game had custom matches, I would skunk him using the DS3. While the move may be fun, it is no where near competitive ready by playing against people who use DS3.
Its similar in nature to those who use mouse and keyboard to controllers. Those using a mouse will always (I repeat always because this is an inarguable fact and if you do, you obviously have no clue what you are talking about) beat those with controllers in any shooter. Its just based on the reaction time and fluidity of control.

MaxXAttaxX5237d ago

And the first comments on this article just happened to be hate. Surprise.

HappyGaming5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

Sorry this doesn't rock at all...

It is a montage most of the kills are of people who are not even facing him.

The times that the people are facing him they are usually snipers and really close to him leaving them defenceless.

His aiming looked sloppy in some kills were he had to walk left and right to adjust the aim.

KZ3 is too good to ruin with move imo.

Edit: He could easily crop out the dozens of times he was brutally killed in a montage.

Show us pure gameplay than we can judge him.

TheLastGuardian5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

He's doing pretty good at using the move. I have a Move and the navigation controller. I played the beta for 34 hours and most of the time I was using the DS3 because it felt more comfortable and I was better at the game with the Dualshock.

The meleeing is definitely harder with the Move and the camera doesn't seem to go exactly where I want it but that will take time to get used to. I did alright in Guerilla Warfare with Move but I feel like I need to use it more so I can get better at it. I going to get practice with the Move in botmode until Killzone 3 comes out.

SixZeroFour5237d ago

@dontbhatin
thanks for explaining that to me

@nathanexplosion
"Wow

where in my post was the hate? all i see is an honest question from someone who doesnt have the game or move

dc15237d ago

His highest point total was around 1400. The video looks like he strung several point blank kills together: Several deaths in between.

However playing without crosshairs is hardcore. without question,.. the only way to survive is to stay in and out of zoom. Crosshairs are a must for 'across the map' targets

Denethor_II5237d ago

I think it's more realistic to shoot from the hip like this. No way if you were faced with a kill or be killed sitch that you would look down your sites to execute the kill. You would just blast off like and adolescent school boy having a wank.

Blaine5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

Disagree. Ever played paintball? I admit, it's pretty damn far off from a real "kill or be killed" situation, but it's closer than a game! At least you actually get to aim and shoot a physical gun--even though it shoots paint capsules. Anyways, my point is: doesn't really matter how close you are, you always want to be looking down the barrel of your gun when shooting. Even in CQC.

It may be different for a trained professional with a real gun who has experience wielding it, but I wouldn't bet on that. Even in movies (again not the best example, but it's all I've got since I've never been a soldier or law enforcer!) they're always looking down at least iron-sights. And my paintball experience would support their need to do so!

Or you can blast off, hit nothing, and get killed.

duplissi5237d ago

uh no. there is a technique called reflexive fire, where you raise the weapon to your face and place the front sight post on your target and without looking through the rear aperture fire.. it isnt very accurate but it is fast and more advantageous to use in close quarters than either iron sights or hip fire...

how do i know this you may ask? well it just may be my army training....

Blaine5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

Well, I admit I have no idea what the hell "rear aperture fire" means, but I'm pretty sure you said the exact same thing I did. ie: "raise the weapon to your face" (your words) and "looking down the barrel of your gun" (my words) rather than hip-fire.

duplissi5236d ago

well i was replying to den_uk..

i guess i could have put that sentence together a bit better.. my bad.

"fire without looking through the rear aperture" is a little easier to understand. the rear aperture is the hole that you look through to see the sight post.

Blaine5236d ago

Oh, alright. At the time I had only 1 disagree, so I assumed it was you. That's why I replied that.

I have 3 disagrees now, not sure why. I guess people who disagree with my comment think that in a real life situation it's best to hip-fire...

gypsygib5237d ago

Move controls work amazing for me after I tweaked them to my preference. I can turn faster and aim far more accurately than with DS3; I pretty much owned every match after I got accustomed to them.

I've never had a k/d ration so high before - normally I'm like 1.3-1.5 but with Move I was 2.96 and first place on my team 60% of the time and top three 95% of the time.

Move is truly the best way to control FPS games on consoles, people who don't think so aren't doing it right.

HappyGaming5237d ago

Some people have been saying that but are you sure that... while you were "getting used to" the KZ3 controls you were not actually "getting used to" KZ3 it self?

In which case had you carried on playing with the DS3 you may have seen the same level of improvement in you K/D and your score per game.

Pillage055237d ago

to be fair though, they kind of dumbed down the shooting for move....no recoil....And can you use the lock on mode in multiplayer? I haven't tried it yet, but that would be kind of dumb.

gypsygib5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

@Gumtol:
I'm sure because I tried Move at first and SUCKED, then I tweaked and sucked a bit less but was still wasn't any good.

Then I went back to DS3 and thought about selling my Move, on DS3 I was doing a little worse than my BFBC2/COD k/d ratio (it was just over 1 most of the time), but way better than Move.

Then I went on some forum saying to decrease the 'boxes' to almost zero which I did, did some more tweaking and then OWNED. Even turning is better than DS3 - I feel like a surgeon with the Move now.

I found these perfect:

0 - Horizontal
20-30 Vertical (depending on turn speed)
0 (crosshairs)
50-60 turnspeed (depending on vertical size)
No auto aim
'Hold' Zoom

I can now turn faster than I was accustomed to on DS3 and my accuracy is leagues above anything I ever did before. I can do a 180 super fast and headshot a high then low target in seconds.

Move really is incredible, I thought it sucked but was curious so I bought the Sportchampions set on Craigslist for 60 bucks - best money I've spent in a long time.

@Pillage05: there's definitely recoil and even more, when you pull the trigger you also 'pull' the crosshairs - i pull left. And Lock-on mode sucks, it's way faster to just aim yourself but I hate a 'toggle' zoom.

He's using the sharpshooter properly calibrated, thats' all.

TABSF5237d ago

No thanks I'd rather play Killzone 3 with my Mouse and Keyboard peripheral, Just like I did in the Beta

Studio-YaMi5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

o_o can I just hook up a USB wireless mouse and keyboard and my PS3 would recognize them in the game ? or do I need some special device for it to work ?

Also, what the best mouse/keyboard for PS3 ? and for FPS games in particular ?

Thanks in advance for the answers

Kleptic5237d ago

wait, you really can do that?

I still have a bluetooth logitech PS3 keyboard from best buy that was like $30, and would use a standard wireless logi laptop mouse (just plug the USB receiver in the PS3)...and played a lot of UT3 that way...

and it was AWESOME at the time. I didn't know killzone 3 supported this?

TABSF5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

Not sure if your being sarcastic but I'll answer you Studio and Kleptic.

Nope as far as I'm aware you can't plug any M&K in.
I'm using XFPS for PS3
http://www.gadgettastic.com...

Could not tell you what is the best Mouse and Keyboard, its personal preference.

Finally I don't think Killzone 3 officially support this, I just don't like FPS games with pads and especially motion consoles.

HappyGaming5237d ago

Very few games "very very few" support USB/Bluetooth M&K on PS3.

The one I know of is Unreal Tournament III.

HOSe5237d ago

seems dumb imo. he didnt aim down the sites once or have to.... makes me wonder if their is an advantage over people using a ds3

dalibor5237d ago

Was wondering the same thing. Played the beta and only had a couple of games where I blew up (had a lot of kills, low deaths). It would be informative if it showed what the players were using either a DS3 or Move next to there name.

StoneyYoshi5237d ago

players using move and players using ds3 will never play against eacother. they have a matchmaking setup for only move players and only ds3 players. it is set like this to keep it fair.

BeaArthur5237d ago

Where did you hear that? I'm pretty sure Move and DS3 players have been in the same lobbies during the open beta.

BARF5237d ago (Edited 5237d ago )

"players using move and players using ds3 will never play against eacother."

WRONG!!! did you even play the beta??? you can play move vs ds3 all day long. i know because i used the move in the beta.

StoneyYoshi5237d ago

yes i deffinitely have played the beta. and i have move. if you read up on the developers interviews. they even say that thhey are separated for balancing purposes.

InTheLab5237d ago

@ Dontbhatin

Start a match using a Dualshock first, then switch to Move. Same match. Same lobby.

NukaCola5237d ago

Final game will have seperate matchmaking setups for DS3, Move, and then Both if you choose. But I played it with the Move and wouldn't want to use a DS3 against the Move. It's just as good as a mouse/keyboard. The only thing that is a little sketchy is melee, but with Move you can murder everyone one in the game with just one clip because it's one of the most accurate setups of anything I have ever played.

My K/D for DS3 is usually 6 or 7 to 1 average.
My K/D for Move is always 10-12 to 1 with many of times 15 killstreaks. Only real deaths are cause I mess up doing melees.

BeaArthur5237d ago

Agreed. I have been playing a ton of the beta and I have used that weapon and it doesn't fire like that for me.

dontbhating the disagrees tell a different story!

t0mmyb0y5237d ago

I do better with the Move lol smh

@ NukaCola

The melee was weird for me to at first but by the end of the trial I was totally used to it on Move

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic206d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23206d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1206d ago (Edited 206d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger196d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.

1Victor772d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar772d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg772d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149771d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138772d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim772d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC772d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138772d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle772d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76772d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger772d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca772d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy772d ago (Edited 772d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

lukasmain772d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright772d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.

Killzone 3 is playable with mouse & keyboard on PC via RPCS3 & KAMI

Still looks secure 2 gens later... one of my favorite ps3 moments. With 3D and move the game is on another level

MadLad1523d ago

PC almost always ends up the best place to play games, even if it takes a while.

What would you rather play decades down the line? A game at a fixed resolution and frame, considering you have a working disc, and the hardware?
Or run it on an emulator that can update the experience all around, and let you use whatever control input you prefer?

If you insist on the former, it's really only for the sake of nostalgia.

Applejack1523d ago

I disagree. The main draw for consoles has always be the simplicity of just putting the disc in / downloading it and playing without worrying about anything else. The average person just wouldn’t want to deal with emulation even though it’s very important for preservation.

Terry_B1523d ago

Even emulators are super simple to use.

jukins1523d ago

Youre getting flak because people on here thibk of themselves as pc wizards. But honestly most poeple try and go get emulators and romz they end up with malware.. yes theyre "easy" if you know the basics but alot of people dont. That said the fact that its taken nearly 20 years to get a sustantially better experience for ps3 games than on its native system shows the complexity of getting bc to work. Sony, if they have any intention, should just invest in a vastly better psnow experience.

1523d ago
Vegamyster1523d ago

jukins

Most people who emulate don't get malware, you'd have to be going to some weird sites for that to happen, heck years ago people were getting sketchier ad's resulting in malware warning on this site if you didn't have a ad-blocker lol.

SinkingSage1523d ago

Can't get malware if you legally dump your own games, which you should.

Rachel_Alucard1523d ago (Edited 1523d ago )

That's fine if that's the main draw, but it doesn't make it a better experience, just a preference. Having the freedom to do the things you can do on PC is what the appeal of PC is. Buying a game on PC means you never have to worry about the console makers just deciding the next hardware shouldn't support the generation anymore, which means everything you bought is stuck on that hardware instead of moving up with everything else. Nintendo uses this tactic to keep reselling the same games over and over at inflated prices. Sony cut all previous gens off the PS4 and sold it back to people in a poor attempt with PSnow. While the PS5 supports PS4 games, that may not be the case in the next gen after this. No to mention shutting off all the previous stores and updates completely. Even MS stopped making new BC titles at some point, so now there's a big list with 17 pages of titles that are not playable on Xbone and are just trapped on older gen. That's not a problem on PC, the reverse happens where you only have to worry if your hardware can play the newest releases at ultra with no issue.

Shhh don't say that aloud! You're going to trigger a lot of console infidels here.

Shane Kim1523d ago

I rather play it when it's available then wait 10 years.

MadLad1522d ago

Did you purposely miss the entire point of my post?

Inverno1523d ago

Well that's the beauty of still owning a retro console tho. Those who usually complain about emulation are just being blindly loyal to a company. Emulation is great for many reason, but if I still owned the console then I disagree nothing beats plugging it back in and going down a nostalgia trip
