Here's why you should buy Warhawk tonight

See PS3's multiplayer battle sim in action in CVG's launch day videos. Incognito's Warhawk, one of the PS3's longest-coming games, is finally up for download from the PlayStation Network today.

To celebrate, CVG fired up their own copy of the excellent multiplayer blaster and carried out some experiments in crashing, flying loops under bridges and never, ever piloting the ground vehicles.

I picked it up last night and in about 1/2 hour i had the controls down.
In about 1 hour I was locking on to people and blasting them out the air.

Is there autoaim on the machine gun, or a locking mechanism to help the aim

for the missles, hold down L1 until it beeps and is locked on, then realese the button. This is a locked on missle. I was wondering how to do it, because everytime i was up in the air, thats all i heard, missle is locked on, so yeah just play around and you'll figure stuff out, took me a while to know that L3 was the button to talk and not R3, its a fun game

the machine gun has a lock feature but you gotta have the person in your sights for a second or two. every shot won't hit but you can lock on a little.

After you fly the warhawk for about 10 mins...you will be good. This game is so easy to play. You will have so much fun!

That's too bad, b/c it is a blast to play. 8 players, 32 players, I've played in all match sizes and the action never stops. Get a good team that communicates, it's even more fun. Either way, i have had no sleep since it has been released. It is that fun. I am going to have to force myself to play Bioshock again.

£19.99 for this looks pretty good value. I hate FPS on consoles (thats PC territory IMO such as BF2142) but the aircraft and ground vehicles look like they more than make up for it.

Dont know what the big deal is. For too long developers were forced to put in a single player campaign when they were focusing on multiplayer. Some games are meant to be MP, I mean like who plays single player campaings in quake arena, battlefield, battlefield 2 or 2049? They are schlepped in there unused by me. Stupid reason to dislike the game.

Also, the other compalint: Warhawks are frail.... dont ride them then, I know some awesome fliers in the game and they kick ass. Me, I'd ratehr blow them up from the ground with a tank. Point is, you got a choice, I do believe "Warhawk" is misnomer. I call it "Tank".

yeah just pushing L1 fires the missles, holding L1 with someone on your sites will lock on, sometimes on two different targets ( you have 2 missiles that shoot) Also on the missle turret, holding down the fire button will lock onto a target.

You can also lock on with the missile turret and rocket launcher by holding R1. Not to compare this game to Battlefield 2, but this brings so many memories back to how much fun that game was: running people over with the jeep, killing everything with the tank, owning 5 guys at once to capture a flag, I also like how balanced the air-to-ground warfare is. On BF2 you can destroy everything in a plane, on Warhawk if you don't have the right weapons then the Warhawk can destroy you. Also the funny thing is that the Sniper Rifle can destroy a Warhawk in one shot, but to sum it all up: this game is fun as hell

i have bought warhawk but when i try connect to a server apparently its full, but they arn't even ones with one person on in a 32 player server and i am still not allowed to connect because its apparently full?!Any suggestions, i really want to play it and havnt been able to yet...please help

yeah that happened to me a couple of times last night, pissed me off, i was trying to get into a 13/16 server and kept telling me it was full, go figure.

right before you join a server push the refresh button, I think its the Triangle and it'll tell you exactly how many players are in at that exact second.

I'll be playing Warhawk once Sony reduces the price on their console to an affordable (for me) level. Another $100 and they will grab some market share. Until then, I'll play Halo 3... and wait for Sony to come to their senses on price.

I don’t know who said it, but playing with 30 other people at once is NOT unmanageable. In fact, it makes the battlefield that much more realistic. Dogfighting against dozens of other players is like living out an action scene from Star Wars, I kid you not. It takes about an hour of adjusting the setup and learning the various controls, but after that everything becomes second-nature.

I’ve found out that I’m more of the gunner and foot soldier type than a vehicle pilot. It’s great out how diverse the gameplay is since everyone gets to play out their specialized roles. The warhawks can’t just fly off on their own and expect to survive though; it takes a good deal of cooperation from all units to effectively take down the other team, at least in the ranked games that I’ve been playing. I’m a huge Halo 2 fan, and I’m glad that Sony and Incognito have put out a multiplayer title that actually improves on the ideals set out by other developers.

It's the only game worth buying now for PS3. I saw the video of it, and the flight looks impressive. The ground stuff looks mediocre, but it isn't a ground game anyways.

The game costs 40$ already if you get it on PSN. 60$ in retail and it comes bundled with an headset. Guess you can get it now then :p

i've had about an hour on it now, just getting to grips with the Warhawks this game is fantastic, this really showcases how smooth and lag free the PSN can be. Everything about this game says quality this is an essential purchase

this game rocks... whoever has played it usually agrees. I like all of the combat in this game... its great! I truly never get bored. If i get bored in a warhawk I go to the ground, if I get bored of the ground I go to a warhawk. Its like two to three games in one. Its a MP lovers dream.

I truly have to say "It is a masterpiece" of a game. I've played plenty multiplayers but this one hits it right on target. Exquisite dogfighting, very simple to log on and play and no lag whatsoever. Only the brightest minds of developers could have created this spectacular game.

I'm telling everyone who is planning to buy a PS3 and for people who own one; first and foremost get a really fast internet connection and then hook up yuor PS3 and then go and buy WARHAWK and play to your heart's content.

This is the best multiplayer on earth and its going to make the PS3 shine even more.

One last thing thank-you very much SONY & Incognito for all your hard work creating such a fun and exciting PS3 game.

I haven't had any problems. I bought it last night and played for 3 hours. Got to blow some stuff up, mostly got my butt kicked. It takes some practice, but once you get the controls/inverts setup how you would like them, pretty simple to fly around and shoot people.
