:D When a first party PS3 exclusive is released in any given year (this case 2011) it is guaranteed to look the best console game of that year. Simple really. :D Uncharted 2 STILL blows away other console games and it's a year old :O

@aaronon- The best "looking" game for one person may not be the best looking game for another person. Have you ever heard of the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? For example, I know the Killzone 2 is technically speaking better graphically than Halo Reach since more particle effects and animations are going on in the background...however, I find Halo: Reach to be more "visual appealing" simply because of the wide color palette it uses.

When it comes to "looks" I listen to what my eyes tell me and not what I understand is technically true. Its all subjective man..I don't understand why you need to go out of your way to rain on another person's parade.

Hey hey kid...get your juice box, calm down, and listen to this: I agree with you. For ME, Uncharted 2 is the best looking console game I've ever had the pleasure of playing. But that wasn't the point I was trying to make.

I am talking both technically and visually. KZ's textures, landscapes, physics, everything looks stunning. Same for U2.

ON TOPIC - Looks great, too bad it was pushed back though.

And to deadreckoning666, give up man the PS3 elite will never except you unless you pledge 100% to the Sony flag. You can even give them compliments like "UC2 is the best looking game" but when you say you understand others may find a different game better you have crossed the line. You are not suppose to have understanding of different opinions, with them its Sony or nothing.

You can't really argue this. On a technical level, PS3 games are far ahead of anything on the 360. That's a fact. Now, you may like the art style in one game better than another, but the graphics are still superior on Ps3 exclusives. No way around that. KZ3 will be, by far, the best looking game next year on consoles.

I would not say ps3 games look a lot better on the ps3 than the 360 I think Alan wake looked just as good as kz2 and uc2 yes the game did not sell as well as it should but it shows the 360 can still match the ps3 with games that are done right but I also think gears 3 is starting to look like it will look better than the last 2 games n they did not look bad

Because they don't want to compare tangible things like physics/scale/stream loading/animation/rendering/su rfacing/textures which go hand in hand with making a better-more realistic advanced game engine. Which is what games strive for.

Gears of War is an unreal engine game. No unreal engine game will ever be on the level of a PS3 exclusive, because epic doesn't care to do so, and the engine just can't handle it. The first one was amazing when no other engines were out.

Sure they look good, but never on a advanced level as the PS3's exclusives are. Facts are facts.

has better character models interms of lighting and a more natural look to them. They dont look plastic anymore. The backgrounds are pretty much the same but thats no bad think cant wait till next year.

I hate to burst the collective bubble of N4G, but when you guys see Rage...you'll freak out.

NO game looks as good as Rage.

Crysis 2, The Last Guardian, and Killzone 3 will look phenomenal, but nothing is touching Rage.

Why would Gears 3 have your vote though? It makes no sense. We've seen Gears 3 in action. Killzone 3 and Crysis 2 BLATANTLY look better. Don't troll.

Gears of War 3 is going to be amazing, but no game has a prayer against TLG.

I agree with TLG that game looks beautiful, gears and killzone also look great. But in reality nothing is going to touch Crysis 2 on pc.

Really just looks like contrast/brightness is different to me. Can't really tell from screenshots but I know gears 3 will look better.

I used to bash GeOW2 for looking slightly better than GeOW1, but you should give credit where credits due and this time GeOW3 looks miles better than GeOW2.

The lighting, textures, character models all look so much better. I would buy this game day one if I had a 360.

EDIT: After seeing this game in action I can say for sure that non of the GeOW3 screen-shots in this article do the game justice.

I'm loving it! Everything is beefier and more "real" looking. I just can't describe accurately enough. And it still has a year to go? Its going to be amazing!

A lot of it is because of the new dynamic lighting engine. It makes everything look better and more "real". Texture detail seems better, but I'm not sure if that is because they have improved the textures or if they just look better becaus of the way the lighting is playing off them.

Yup best looking game for 2011 just like alan wake was for 2010 (ends sarcasm) with all thats going to be released that year i wouldnt be so quick to call this GOTY or best looking game graphically though it does look good dont get me wrong but dont jump the gun .

Alan Wake looks bloody good, I don't see why people bash it.

Next year is shaping up to be pretty darned chocked full of games. I have a lot on my radar, not to mention any possible unmentioned surprises.

Nobody can say that Gears 3 will be the best-looking game in 2011, but I do think that it looks better than anything out right now on consoles.

We'll have to wait and see how other games like Killzone 3, Crysis 2 and Rage stack up.

I haven't seen Rage with my own but at the moment both Killzone 3 and Crysis 2 look better than Gears 3.Gears looks more colourful than before but other than that looks very similar.Looks like it will be fun to play though.

I only own a PS3 currently, but have played Gears 1 and 2 on my brother's 360. I think it's a badass IP. I will always remember it as the game that redeemed this gen of gaming for me. I remember when the first 360 games came out and I though wtf?! This doesn't look like that big of an upgrade. But then I saw the first Gears and was thoroughly impressed. Kudos to Epic

The texture quality is pretty much the same but the lighting is great and it makes a huge difference. There is also a little more color.
