IGN: Gamescom - Killzone 3 Shown on Move

"There are control gestures thrown in too, and pleasingly they seem thoughtfully integrated. Empty a magazine and a twist of the controller reloads, and the brutal melee system in unsurprisingly brought to life with Move. And what could be more satisfying than plunging a knife into a Helghan's eye socket for yourself?"

Enough already!

I've already jizzed all day! I'm out of boxers god damnit!

MGRogue20175424d ago (Edited 5424d ago )

Seriously dude?

I'm like Rico out of Just Cause 2 .. I pull new boxers out of mah' pocket like he does with the parachutes :D

I've still got lots of jizz for Killzone 3, Hells yeah! :P

today was a good day to be on the sony bandwagon.

-Alpha5424d ago (Edited 5424d ago )

My Alpha Males have run out of jizz. Now I'm just peeing myself.

On a more serious note:

I'm prepared for the disagrees, but I had always felt K2 lacked that variety in gameplay. I am very glad to hear that GG has been listening on exactly this and though I may be in a minority here complaining about K2's MP gameplay, it's clear that it was a significant factor that GG worked on. Killzone 2 was a little barebones for me and it's evident that this was due to the large time spent on getting familiar with the new engines.

I'm seeing gun attachments, melee systems, vehicles, etc. and it's looking awesome. Not only is it offering a level of immersion with the graphics but it's also promising to nail gameplay, which has ALWAYS been the most important aspect of a game.

With that said, I am glad to see the controls are tightened up, but at the same time, I hope they retain the post-patch K2 feel. My only issue with controls now has been precision, but Move clearly is going to make Killzone totally solid.

I really hope they fix a couple things though:

-Server lag sometimes existed

-Better server information. I hate joining long games when I don't want to

-redesign spawns and objective placements. Too many times has Killzone 2 turned into a spamfest of rockets and nades. Why the hell would you put two S&D objectives in one room with 32 players? Makes no damn sense. Reliance of teammates made Killzone a pain to play with random players sometimes, especially moron tactitians. The lack of party support made it worse.

-More customization for games and modes. Turning off grenades is a good place to start

-I always preferred the smaller games, 4 on 4 is intense-- make maps that focus on that diversity of style

-More classes, etc. but tweak them too. Please just get rid of the Assault class. Or at least penalize them better. I could carelessly kamikaze myself, commit suicide, yet gain + points for taking out members. It destroyed the game. I now see nobody allowing this class in their games

-Weapon variety is a must. But at the same time I get that GG was trying to make guns unique to class. I guess we will see what happens with this.

-A theater mode. The 2-D one in K2 was really just good for spotting cheaters, but a theater mode is pretty standard these days. Hell, COD is doing it now.

-Support the PS3 features. I'd love to see the ability to upload Theater videos to Youtube via the PS3.

-Most importantly, send us a beta that is reasonably away from the launch date so that you can tweak the game necessarily. Listen to the community but don't be afraid to make your game your way.

Why o why5424d ago

theres a lot of jizz in here...wheres elementx ;)

This is all good for sony. They are pushing 3d AND move with their own top games..from there the rest can see whats possible

raztad5424d ago

I dont understand why is someone agreeing with 4 on 4 games when talking about KZ3 .

There is not fukin way I'd want KZ3 to be 4 x4, especially when maps will be much bigger and they will feature Mechas/Jumpacks. Rockets probably will be useful against Mechas and flying guys, and clusterfucks wont be as frequent because the size of the maps.

dragonyght5424d ago

i have to disagree on the assault class they finally got their use i mean jet-pack, mech and they might be also tanks im pretty sure they will be an annoyance

-Alpha5424d ago (Edited 5424d ago )

@Raztad

Why shouldn't Killzone be playable 4 on 4? The support is there. Sure, mechs and all that is awesome, but playing in a squad of four in a clan match laying out tactics, etc. is just as fun.

Every kill is more important, you are so much more aware of the environment, and the game is as intense, just in a different way.

Now I said 4 on 4 because that was possible in K2. Just because the maps will be bigger in K3 doesn't mean there wont be some (relatively) small maps for 8 on 8 or 4 on 4.

Also, clusterfucks happened because of poor objective placements in some S&D maps and the spawn grenades. So regardless of how big the maps are if idiot players are going to run out and throw spawn grenades next to each other K3 will suffer from the same "clusterfuck".

This has always been brought up on the Killzone forums where GG has been paying attention to.

mrcash5424d ago

I agree with the smaller player count, it definitely makes for more intense and balanced matches. I think 16 players would be good balance and size.

raztad5424d ago

Many of KZ2 problems were related to map size. The best map in KZ2 is not by chance the bigger:Salumun Market.

A better map layout coupled with larger size, and better spawn points location would easily prevent clusterfucks.

A feature that would definitely help KZ3 multiplayer lifespan is map creation. That way besides stock big maps, you can create your own smaller 4x4 friendly, and set up your custom objectives. That would be awesome.

cyberwaffles5424d ago

can everyone lay off jizzing for now. save it when you actually play the game...it will be like playing your first best video game of all time all over again.

I just sit at my computer naked when I'm about to read a big Sony announcement. Boxers saved through intelligence.

Edit: I'd give you a bubble Alpha-male, but I think you're at your limit anyways.

ico925424d ago

you know what im gonna sound fanboyish..today has been such a win for ps3 gamers, who would have thought gamescom would be so awesome my hopes were on the TGS

guitarded775424d ago

Agreed, today was a big day for Sony owners... ME2, R3, R&C and Move support with MAG now! I lost some fluids too.

ico925424d ago

Resistance 3 announcement made my f*ckin day, the only question left is the release date i really can't wait a year to play it i wish they could release it at the end of this year

-Alpha5424d ago

I actually forgot about the Resistance trailer! D'oh!

I saved K3 for last, watched the InFamous 2 trailer first, and then the LBP2 one.

Ok, so I just saw the R3 trailer, What a tease! All they did was confirm it was happening. Now, I really wasn't a fan of Resistance 1 and 2. The MP was meh for me, the co-op was fun but boring, and I generally wasn't interested in the game. But I am open to R3 and I do hope it's great. That trailer was fantastic though

Going by that trailer it seems that the emphasis is on co-op survival.

karl5424d ago

yeah.. so much win today..

after the letdown that mafia 2 brought and all the 360 fanboys that came out because of it... gamescom..send them all to the shadows once again...

serious why is MS even trying with Kinect it will all smoke and mirrors until the press got hold of the device and they are seeing it for what it really is, Which is, nearly, a 10 year late device that was shown on the PS2! MS need to get their act together

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic210d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23210d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1210d ago (Edited 210d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger201d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.

Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.

1Victor776d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar776d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg776d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149776d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138776d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim776d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC776d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138776d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle776d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76776d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware730776d ago (Edited 776d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger776d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca776d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy776d ago (Edited 776d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

lukasmain776d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright776d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.

Killzone 3 is playable with mouse & keyboard on PC via RPCS3 & KAMI

Still looks secure 2 gens later... one of my favorite ps3 moments. With 3D and move the game is on another level

MadLad1527d ago

PC almost always ends up the best place to play games, even if it takes a while.

What would you rather play decades down the line? A game at a fixed resolution and frame, considering you have a working disc, and the hardware?
Or run it on an emulator that can update the experience all around, and let you use whatever control input you prefer?

If you insist on the former, it's really only for the sake of nostalgia.

Applejack1527d ago

I disagree. The main draw for consoles has always be the simplicity of just putting the disc in / downloading it and playing without worrying about anything else. The average person just wouldn’t want to deal with emulation even though it’s very important for preservation.

Terry_B1527d ago

Even emulators are super simple to use.

jukins1527d ago

Youre getting flak because people on here thibk of themselves as pc wizards. But honestly most poeple try and go get emulators and romz they end up with malware.. yes theyre "easy" if you know the basics but alot of people dont. That said the fact that its taken nearly 20 years to get a sustantially better experience for ps3 games than on its native system shows the complexity of getting bc to work. Sony, if they have any intention, should just invest in a vastly better psnow experience.

1527d ago
Vegamyster1527d ago

jukins

Most people who emulate don't get malware, you'd have to be going to some weird sites for that to happen, heck years ago people were getting sketchier ad's resulting in malware warning on this site if you didn't have a ad-blocker lol.

SinkingSage1527d ago

Can't get malware if you legally dump your own games, which you should.

Rachel_Alucard1527d ago (Edited 1527d ago )

That's fine if that's the main draw, but it doesn't make it a better experience, just a preference. Having the freedom to do the things you can do on PC is what the appeal of PC is. Buying a game on PC means you never have to worry about the console makers just deciding the next hardware shouldn't support the generation anymore, which means everything you bought is stuck on that hardware instead of moving up with everything else. Nintendo uses this tactic to keep reselling the same games over and over at inflated prices. Sony cut all previous gens off the PS4 and sold it back to people in a poor attempt with PSnow. While the PS5 supports PS4 games, that may not be the case in the next gen after this. No to mention shutting off all the previous stores and updates completely. Even MS stopped making new BC titles at some point, so now there's a big list with 17 pages of titles that are not playable on Xbone and are just trapped on older gen. That's not a problem on PC, the reverse happens where you only have to worry if your hardware can play the newest releases at ultra with no issue.

AzubuFrost1527d ago

Shhh don't say that aloud! You're going to trigger a lot of console infidels here.

Shane Kim1527d ago

I rather play it when it's available then wait 10 years.

MadLad1526d ago

Did you purposely miss the entire point of my post?

Inverno1527d ago

Well that's the beauty of still owning a retro console tho. Those who usually complain about emulation are just being blindly loyal to a company. Emulation is great for many reason, but if I still owned the console then I disagree nothing beats plugging it back in and going down a nostalgia trip
