MTV: The anticipated release of "Crackdown 2" was met with disappointment from fans and critics alike. Despite an improved co-op experience, the rest of the game felt more like an expansion pack than a full-fledged sequel. I spoke with James Cope, producer at Ruffian Games, shortly before the game's release, to get his take on some of the complaints being levied at the game.
From Bussiness Wire: Rockstar Games is proud to announce that it has acquired Ruffian Games. Based in Dundee, Scotland, the studio will operate under the new name of Rockstar Dundee.
“We are thrilled to have Ruffian join the Rockstar Games family,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The Ruffian team are a talented addition to Rockstar’s global studios, and we look forward to working together on future projects.”
Ruffian Games is now Rockstar Dundee.
Definitely looking forward to what they will make especially for the next gen consoles.
Well that's a nice unexpected surprise. Hopefully this helps their plans to release more games faster they mention a while ago.
Even more employees to work on GTA5 so the game can see out next gen, the gen after that and potentially at a squeeze, the gen after that
Not only did we go a whole gen without a new GTA, they have the audacity to release a full priced Reremaster on PS5/XSX.
Darren writes: "“XBOX NEEDS EXCLUSIVES!”. Sound familiar? It’s something that has been ringing in my ears since becoming an Xbox gamer nearly 20 years ago. It’s possibly the longest standing and harshest criticism levelled against Microsoft’s console family, and I can’t say I wholly disagree. However, there are some out there which can slip through the net every now and then. But bucking the trend was the original Crackdown, which was not one of them. It shifted a very healthy amount of units as well as drawing in universal praise from critics. A sequel then, would be a no-brainer."
It was basically crackdown 1 with zombies, was fun but corners were cut, solid game though.
Crackdown 1 was one of the underrated gems of last gen. I loved that game. Crackdown 2 was crackdown 1 with added zombies and gave the map a paint job. Disappointing, but still enjoyed it for what it was with the added wingsuit, toybox mode and 4 player co-op. Crackdown 3 was basically what Crackdown 2 should have been.
Well at least the DLC will keep you playing the game?
Sounds very intersting...wonder what the dev has up his sleeve.
Quit hating on Crackdown 2. Yes, it's like Crackdown 1, but I enjoyed the first one and I'm enjoying the sequel. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it.
More preplanned DLC. If I really like Crackdown 2 I'll pick it up but if it's not excellent I'm not going to be milked.
