NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O1111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!

....oh well, better late than never ;)

kingofps36178d ago (Edited 6178d ago )

"Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later," is all I get.

Can anyone tell me why the delay has occured AGAIN!?

fenderputty6178d ago

you have to check the forums and I couldn't access them for some reason. I'm heading to the PS3 resistance boards to find out more.

tosh616178d ago

I've been waiting for this update even when it was first announced in March. Waited for the June 1, then June 7, and now?

Hoping its not more than a couple days delay this time, a week of waiting seems longer than ever.

Link not broken...site is just overloaded by users looking at same topic.

I got in and here's what it actually says:

This feels like déjà vu… A really bad case of déjà vu

Last week, I had the pleasure of unveiling our planned release date of June 7th for the Resistance: Fall of Man map packs and content update. That was on May 31st, the last day of May and the date we (SCEA and Insomniac) had promised when we unveiled this waive of DL content.

On that June 7th release date, I have some unfortunate news to share. During our final testing of the global server, which removes regional play restrictions for those who want some international flair in the multiplayer experience, a few last minute issues have come up. Despite some extremely long hours by all those involved, the unfortunate fact remains that we cannot resolve these issues prior to our announced launch date. And, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, neither SCEA nor Insomniac wants to release something to our ever-growing community which will impede the experience.

Hence the déjà vu feeling mentioned above.

The one bit of good news is these issues are NOT related to the content update or map packs themselves, and both have cleared format QA groups worldwide. In other words, everything is ready to go from the game side; we just have some kinks to iron out to complete the integration of our global community. Rather than announce a new date at this time, I want to see these issues resolved first to prevent any more cases of déjà vu on this topic.

What I can promise are two things: first, this last delay won’t be too long. Second, once it is out and you have a chance to play the new maps or your buddies from across the world, you’ll be happy we took the time to get this right.

Right, back to work.

Thanks,
GP aka Greg Phillips,
Line Producer, SCEA

Please no one report this

fenderputty6178d ago (Edited 6178d ago )

the leave it open-ended. Great.

Why can't they give us the maps at least? I mean OK ... no global servers but, the guys said the maps have the OK. So why not put them up. That's all I was really looking forward too. It would be nice to have more people online late at night though.

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro59d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv7259d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_59d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Cacabunga59d ago

Killzone 2+3
Sly Thieves in Time
Crack in Time
God of War Ascension
Motorstorm
Modnation racer
Infamous 1+2

Profchaos59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt2359d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball200059d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin59d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole59d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix59d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel198959d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

Resistance was the best co-op fps I ever played after L4D2

Ranking the Resistance Games From Worst To Best

While it's been on ice for as long as it was around, the Resistance franchise has no shortage of quality.

My take:

Single player
3, 2, 1

Multiplayer
3, 1, 2

Overall
3, 2, 1

I beat the lengthy single player in 1 multiple times and spent hours in the online too. Plus 1 featured my home town! Special mention to the audio design in 1: playing that with surround headphones blew me away.

Note: I have the platinum for Resistance 2.

Eidolon734d ago

Resistance 1 MP will always be my favorite. Call it nostalgia or whatever, but that was my jam, felt more balance, natural.

Miraak82 734d ago

i have the platinium too , 10k kills in online ranked matches was no joke . Took me 3-4 months straight grinding but it was fun . To put it in perspective you only got like 25 kills per match if you were 1st place every match that's at Least 400 matches in 1st

Sciurus_vulgaris736d ago

I only played the 3 main Resistance titles. My ranking would be;
1. Resistance 3
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Resistance 2

GoodGuy09736d ago

Man I loved 3's campaign. Another gem stuck on the ps3 and who knows if insomniac will go back to the franchise.

fr0sty735d ago

Resistance, Warhawk, MAG, Motorstorm, there's so many first party gems on PS3 that Sony has just left to die...

P_Bomb735d ago

Never played Burning Skies but I still have Retribution.

monkey602735d ago

Burning Skies was about 3 hours long and rather inconsequential. You haven't missed anything

porkChop735d ago

Honestly, Burning Skies was shit. There's no two ways about it. At first I thought it looked terrible, then I second guessed myself. Big mistake.

darthv72734d ago

Retribution has this really cool feature where you could use a PS3 to link a controller to it and play. So if you had a 2000 or 3000 hooked to a tv, you can use a real controller. All of this predates the PSP Go's ability to sync a sixaxis to it via bluetooth.

Yui_Suzumiya735d ago

Resistance 3 was shocking and brilliant. Loved it.

Days Gone Director Pitched Open World Resistance; Wasn't Interested in Syphon Filter Reboot

Days Gone director & former Bend Studio dev Jeff Ross says he pitched an open-world Resistance game to Sony; he wasn't interested in a Syphon Filter reboot.

P_Bomb851d ago (Edited 851d ago )

Sony rejected an open world Resistance? Come ON guys. Stop with these timed deals for Deathloop etc and let’s go!

This plus the fact Days Gone hit 9 million has me scratching my head this week. Why so cynical?

porkChop851d ago

Resistance doesn't need to be open world though. Just because it can technically work doesn't mean it's a good direction for the franchise.

P_Bomb851d ago (Edited 851d ago )

No I know, but seeing as the franchise has no current direction, I’m in the camp of anything’s better than nothing. Could always just dip a toe in like GOW, TLOU2.

excaliburps850d ago

Well, yeah, but any new Resistance is good! LOL! XD

EvertonFC850d ago

Agree tbh it sounded straight off the bat what halo infinite turned into but just a resistance version of it.

Army_of_Darkness850d ago

An open world resistance based on resistance 3 would be awesome ballz!

CanadianTurtle850d ago

As a huge fan of the series, an open-world Resistance would not be a bad idea. Especially if it had Day's Gone's gameplay engine. Replace the motorcycle with a military hummer or a chimeran vehicle. I think it could work very well.

The problem with continuing Resistance as a linear FPS game is that the market doesn't respond to those games anymore. I think the games industry is tired of 8 hour (linear-shooter) campaigns. That was acceptable in the PS3/360 days but now I think the industry wants more. IF a new Resistance game were to come out and it followed the gameplay structure of the original trilogy, it would be regarded as "just another FPS." But if it got the Days Gone treatment, it can attract a larger fanbase.

Rhythmattic850d ago (Edited 850d ago )

Porkchop
Maybe they're not considering the halo effect ?
Mwhahahahahaha

Mr_cheese849d ago

I'd try any new resistance experience but if I'm being truly honest, my first instinct is that it would not touch the heights of the original trilogy and should continue to be a story driven linear campaign. Especially with the technology afforded in this gen, even linear can have a very open feel to it.

sparky77850d ago

That 9ml was an estimate, he confirmed he doesn't have executive level sales figures so he just guessed. I would assume it was much lower than that with the majority coming from PS+ and discounts.

If Sony brought Housemarquee after Returnal didn't sell 9ml, it's obvious sales aren't all Sony cares about.

jukins850d ago (Edited 850d ago )

Thats what im thinking. Ntm the game was on sale relatively faster than most sony 1st party games. Released buggy horrible framerate that took months to "fix" and it took about 10chours of slow paced gameplay till you got to a point where you got enough mods tools and guns for it to be enjoyable.

I find it weird that all the sudden ppl are praising the game asking for a sequel just because a former director said it sold x amount. Given the 6 year cycle, bad launch, 50/50 reception and to leads who were supposedly not a good fit leaving/ getting fired shows why sony probably didnt greenlight a sequel

EvertonFC850d ago

He didnt guess ffs, he used data from a trophies website with there own internal data which matched up.

Ausbo850d ago

That’s different though. The ps5 was in its infancy when returnal released. Different sales targets

MrBeatdown850d ago

If they were pitching some kind of third person, open world Resistance with destructible environments similar to Red Faction Guerrilla where you can take down Chimera towers and giant robots, sure. But I don't want Far Cry with aliens, which is all I see this being.

I'm fine without another Days Gone too. I have yet to play much of it, but it seems like a great game with a tired setting. I'm not dying for more zombies.

I'll take Syphon Filter in any form though.

arkard849d ago

It was revealed the director didn't use officisl sales figures.

https://www.gameinformer.co...

porkChop849d ago

Yeah I saw. You can't base sales on trophies. Those trophies include anyone who bought the game used, borrowed from friends, households with more than 1 gamer, rentals, PS+ subscribers, review copies, etc. Those altogether would account for likely at least a couple million PSN accounts.

What I find ridiculous is that he says he still "stands by" his numbers. If the game was as successful as he thinks it was then Sony wouldn't have shot down any chance of a sequel. He shouldn't have gone around talking shit like he did with a source as flimsy as trophies, he made a fool of himself. He likely burned some bridges, limiting his options in the future.

porkChop851d ago

As far as Syphon Filter goes, it's a shame that after two generations of leaks and rumors the game was never actually in development. MGS is dead, Splinter Cell might as well be dead from what we've heard. Sony's had a massive opportunity to come in and take over a dormant genre, and they're just dragging their feet. So many opportunities to bring franchises back and they just don't.

Magog850d ago

They already did. TLOU2 is the best stealth game I've ever played.

GhostofHorizon850d ago

Rumors from multiple sources have it that an open world 3rd person tactical stealth game is in works as a first party Playstation game. Perhaps they just didn't want to double down.

CaptainHenry916850d ago

I saw that but who's the developer?

GhostofHorizon850d ago

I don't think it mentioned a developer.

Exvalos850d ago

Splinter cell is coming back, it was confirmed already.

porkChop850d ago

Yes. I know that. I didn't say it is dead, I said it might as well be. They're literally making a "stealthy Assassin's Creed" but with Splinter Cell paint.

Relientk77850d ago

*Sigh* I don't know if Syphon Filter is ever coming back

KeyAppearance850d ago

I really wish we got more grounded action-crime or action-espionage games, not everything has to be over the top action RPGs and have sci-fi/superhero/fantasy elements.

Especially after seeing that jawdropping Matrix showcase... we can really rival some great action films if done right :O

Phantom68850d ago

Shame about Siphon Filter as I believe there is a market for it.
Also, there are some rumors that Sony is working on a new game that mix both Splinter Cell and MGS features.
Let's hope it is true.
