Developer comments on PSN game sharing

I don't blame him though, I think Gamesharing causes game developers to lose $ especially ones that make really good PSN games like Q-Games.

game sharing won't get you banned and have you honestly never lent one of your friends a game physically or otherwise? cause that's the same thing.

If developers over charge for their games or game addons, or even charge for things that were on the disk and should have been unlocked / free in the first place, then they have no right to complain about people sharing.

Though for developers that make great quality games and don't overcharge for them, they deserve the money.

And to 1.1, game sharing does not get you banned if you share with friends. If you go posting on forums looking for people to trade games with or share your info in posts, then of course you'll get banned like an idiot.

Just make sure you deactivate your account first from the other PS3s if you dont want them there anymore.

Account Management > Activate Account > Game/Video > Deactivate

Easy. You get your activation "ticket" back.

What I was thinking it meant was letting someone log onto your PSN account from their Ps3 so they can download your downloaded games.

I lend ppl games all the time...sorry for the misunderstanding...lot of upset ppl disagreed with me -_- lol

It may look like game developers are losing money when people share, but as Darkfocus said, it's not different than lending your physical copy. On the positive side for developers, you cannot sell your PSN copy.

Actually you are spot on! But the principal behind game sharing is like, being able to play on another PS3 in your house, lending to a friend or being able to play your game at a friend's house like you can do with a physical disk copy.

Not being able to do any of these things would be a reason to not buy the a digital game and most of them only come in this format. So developers and publishers will have lost a sale, thus better to allow 5 game shares!

I was fine with the change to 3 but my issue is with teh 24 hour thing. I have 2 PS3's in my house in two different rooms, one is in my man cave and the other is in my living room. If i want to play a game on one for a bit, and then say some buddies come over and we go to the larger room and we want to play the same games thats no longer allowed? Thats Funking stupid.

But he is right though, 3 is plenty! unless you are having a lot of hardware failures... which most likely isn't the case.

I agree, he even stated that you can ask sony to reset it and they will. I dont see that being an issue for most people. I dont know anyone that had 3 ps3's fail on them, but im sure there some.

This is something MS should have done seeing as they get a ton of money from LIVE. it would have been a nice gesture, but it's ironically Sony that is doing it when they are the ones that can really use some profits this gen;

just buy a 20$ PSN card and you can get 2, 3, or 4 games with it!!!

Me and my friend had no way to pay for dls via PSN by ourselves only if parent forked over their CC so... if we did manage to get it we shared w/ each other by putting our accounts on each other ps3s. Its not about the money but more about the availability.

Also I see why they dont want sharing because you can have you and your friends play at same time versus sharing disc, only one can use the disc at a time.

Also I think dling games is a bad idea, physical media is the way to go I learned lesson after warhawk when couldnt share that AT ALL and couldnt go to friends house w/ it. Tekkan and others worked fine however.

Game sharing has been great. Me and my friends have bought a ton of games on PSN thanks to game sharing that we probably wouldn't have bough otherwise.

i'd hate to have to DL the game on all systems at the same time... and what if you buy another system later on down the line... and you would have to repurchase the same game cuz your time is up? that seems lame too....

The 24 hour thing is playing, not DLing. Already happened to me with UC2 MP demo. Activated it and played it on my nephew's PS3. Got home and tried to play it on my PS3, and it told me my machine was locked out for 24 hours.

One is mine, one is for my 2 sons. There are some games on both consoles because sometimes they play in their room, sometimes in the living room. Since I cannot take a disk between the 2 systems, it makes sense that I can have the games on both systems (Sharing). I would not buy 2 disk based games to use on both consoles when I could just take one back and forth.

Im a very unfortunate player. I have a 20 gigs PS3. I have 48 games for it. About a dozen of PSN games and lots of PS2 games I played on it. I recently bougth God of War Collection. I suffered from the YLOD about a year ago and SONY sent me a completely new 20 giger. Great service I dont complaint. Then about 3 months ago the console SONY sent died on me again. I send it again and payed 150 bucks. A great service since I live in Puerto Rico and I wanted my 20 giger back thans to its BC with the PS2. I get it again (a refurbished one this time I think) and today I was playing Modern Warfare 2 and the console just died for the third time.

Im very frustrated since I lost my 250 gig info 2 times and this looks like the third. A friend told me just to buy a slim (since I have 48 games)and Im considering it because it seems that the problem with my 20 giger will continue no matter how many times I send it to be fixed. My point is that I have used 3 times my account for the PSN. I cant deactivate all those PS3 and SONY said that they cant help unless I have the PS3 serial numbers.

Im very angry at that and yes Im going to buy a SLIM. The PS3 is just too good to miss and since I bougth 3 XBOX 360's that also RROD on me until I fixed it and pirate it and get banned from XBOX live even when I never connected since getting it modded. LOL!! So im going to try for a SLIM this Friday. Call me a fanboy if you want. Get my bubbles if you want but Im speaking the truth. Im in no need of fanboy attention so wathever you think...I consider myself a gamer cause I bough games and even if my 360 is modded I buy originals games for it unless I want to demoed some game. Its sad that consoles have it share of problems but they have as most electronics. Some worst than others but they are present. Anyway share your games gamers, cause they are for enjoying...

Its not a user error. Ive been gaming since I was 6 years old. Im 32 now and I STILL has my Sega Genesis, SNES, N64, Playstation, PS2, and even a Sega Master System working.I just think its all bad luck. Thats all. Im not millionare but I work and games to me are just part of my life. Thats all. On the modded part you guys dont understood me. The only reason why I modded the 360 was because I was tired to sent it to MS. So I fix it but it needed to be modded. I always try to keep gaming as clean as posible...anyways Bill Gates now this guy is rolling in dough LOL!!

I respect Sony customer service, but he is wrong. I had to send in a couple PS3's for repair, my account still on them and they wouldnt deactivate it. I wasnt gamesharing or anything, just a person that wanted his account to work on more than one ps3.
