I reckon the game will get a average meta score of about 8.9 to a 9, but the user meta score will be about a 6, simply because the PS3 community will be really eager to shoot it down.

and i LOVE it how if a 360 game is given a good review, the PS3 community start the "oh they were bought out by MS, and oh well its only eurogamer". And may i point out that the PS3 is mostly dominant in Europe.

But Halo gets its 9s because the franchise IS top class, Uncharted is just the new kid in the classroom trying to suck up to the teacher in hopes of good grades and friends, and all it really has going for it is its looks. Shame it lacks the brains.

i am a halo fan, i love the 360, and i am a gamer who will also get Sony's Uncharted 2, among other Sony games, because it looks amazing. I can find good things about all these games, and would like to have intelligent conversations about the merits and faults of any game..

but in N4G there is a strong hatred towards the 360 and specially Halo. Which makes it almost impossible to talk about the game with out getting hate back. it is truly sad. I think the Sony fans have chip on their shoulders about the problems with their beloved console during the first two years after launch. Eurogamer or not, this game is very good. It has a great story, solid gameplay and action, great co-op and insane music. what more can you ask for? Bungie hits one out of the park once again. And bringing up Uncharted 2 is useless, most people with actual taste in games will be playing ODST and Uncharted 2 in the next few weeks.

Everyone knows Halo is going to score well. Because its nonsense reviewers. That complain about games having "too much variety" getting fired for writing opinions, or receiving bribes from eidos & 800 dollar gift kits.

The game is a sham, its a 40 dollar DLC pack. Sure, people will buy it. But, so what? Does that mean that it some how has:

-Good A.I
-Good Visuals

Enjoy Halo!, just like you enjoy Halo Wars, and Halo:Space Adventures 9. Because its really the only thing you're going to play during the 360's lifespan. Oh and Reach is right around the corner!

Xbox360 owners have sunk to a new low, and none of you supporting Halo3's expansion pack are gamers as far as Im concerned because you don't speak with your wallets on nonsense. When PS3 ports suck, they weren't purchased. Then the devs have to turn over backwards to please fans, offer separate demos, and really convince people that everything is OK this time around. I hope everyone hoping this game gets 9s and 10s realizes they're supporting devs recycling old content into new games. They should've released the ODST version with the old MP for $40-$50 dollars and just the SP campaign and firefight for $30. They could've at least made a separate ODST MP mode where you play as ODSTs instead of spartans.... I mean, the game is the same price as Reach will be (unless they pull an Activision).

Most games end in trilogy's because developers run out of ideas/the game gets repetitive/they can't add to gameplay or graphics/developers want to end with an epic story. There's only so long that a franchise can be extended.

The games that do go on to more than being trilogy's can do that because they are games without stories, or they are games where the gameplay/graphics change with each game.

Halo ODST is bungie's attempt to change the gameplay a little to prolong the Halo franchise. Although they changed gameplay, they changed it for the worse. They took out the features that defined why Halo was fun.(Im looking specifically at jumping).

Bottomline, a franchise can only be extended so far... ODST shows that bungie is either trying to milk money from you, or they are running out of ideas.

I respect that Halo has hit a sweet spot for gaming in general. But when it's blatantly obvious that this should have been an expansion pack, please reviewers... Don't reward a developer for charging full price for short, rehashed experiences like this. This should have always been a $40 title. I hope some reviewers have the guts to reflect that in the final score.

I agree this should have been a $40, if you remove the Halo 3 multiplayer you are left with a short singleplayer experience which does little to reimagine the FPS genre(remember the killzone 2 review saying the same, well I'll treat Halo 3:ODST the same), the visuals are below standards, the gameplay is fun. Oh and firefight is supposedly insanely good BUT you can only play it with friends which sucks if no one is online.

There's probably been beta's with more multiplayer content than this and they are getting away with charging $60.

I think reviewers are not factoring the fact that all this is is a Singleplayer game with hoarde for $60.

I swear I will never understand this infatuation with Halo. It's a decent shooter, yes. I played Halo and Halo 2 quite a bit on Xbox because back then, the only fps experience better was on PC. Why are you so hung up on what OTHER people enjoy? I don't like Halo. It's too sci fi for my tastes (I usually hate games where everything is far off in the future. Killzone 2 and Gears 2 are about the level of sci fi I enjoy).

But something I've noticed about Halo players is that it's all about the community. People I know have had COUNTLESS Halo parties, and they always talk about how fun and energetic they are. Especially when they hold tournaments.

The score doesn't surprise me. Games like Halo, Call of Duty, GTA, Mario, Gran Turismo etc will always get good reviews. Only thing that counts is when people play it they agree with the score given, which doesn't always happen.

Don't get me wrong guys. Especially for someone who hasn't played Halo 3, this would be a great game. But you can't review a game the way Eurogamer did, basically saying it's short, the MP is great for those not having played Halo 3, the visuals aren't pushing the system, the AI is iffy, but it deserves a 9. For the vast majority of ODST buyers (probably a good 85% of them), the MP disc is a rehash. Slap this game out like PD did with GT5:P at $40, and I would have no problem with this score though.

It's reeeeeally bad for the industry when games get patted on the back for releasing this little new content for the full price. But let's encourage Killzone 3 to be 5-6 hours with just the old maps plus a horde type mode for $60! That would be[sarcasm tag] awesome! [/sarcasm tag]

Or get this, you could release single player only games (InFamous, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Bioshock, Mass Effect) for $60. Were those games ripoffs? I've played three of the five, paid full price for them, and didn't feel ripped off at all.

In my opinion, ODST offers more value with a campaign, short or not, and Firefight, as well as the Reach beta. I'll probably spend tons of time exploring the city. I'll probably play through the campaign numerous times by myself, as well as with friends.

I'm sorry guys, but I just can't find anything else like the gameplay of a Halo campaign, although I wish I could buy the campaign and not get the multiplayer because Halo multiplayer is completely overrated and is an insult to the universe and plot within the franchise and it probably would turn out cheaper.

For me this 9 is about as meaningful as the 9's that LittleBigPlanet Game of the Year Edition is getting. Sure, the content in the box is great, but I've already bought and played most of it. I'm not about to pay 60 bucks for LBP GOTY Edition while I've already got the regular edition, and I'm not about to pay 60 bucks for ODST while I've already got Halo 3. I really wish that the NEW content was available separately at a lower price, then I'd buy it for sure.

There's no way that every Halo game can be a 9 or higher. "Why?" you ask. Well, the reason is that I hate Halo. Absolutely hate it. But I've enjoyed every other game I've ever played that received higher than a 9, regardless of system. So why do I hate Halo? I can't explain it. It's not that I don't like FPS--I love Half-Life... The reason I hate Halo is because it's not a AAA game...it just lands AAA sales, for whatever reason. I think the reason is that the pacing fits with the ADD of today's youth. It's the same reason my kids like Spongebob, but won't watch Mighty Mouse. It appeals to a sensory experience only and has no artistic value.

That might be fine for most people, but for me, games need substance.

See I wouldnt know because I have NO interest in playing Uncharted so I didnt bother going.
I didnt like Tomb Raider 13-14 years ago,I never got into Metal Gear games,so why should I feel any different about this? But its a 10!!! So what?? If I had a dollar for every highly rated game I didnt like...Heck I didnt even get into Halo 3 all that much. Gimmie L4D anyday,but thats another story.

Killzone2 definitely isn't all that great by the way and plenty people think this that have PS3.Nice polish to those graphics though.I think you're more obsessed with how things look quite honestly - still very important of course but not without matching gameplay.K2 isn't crap but it's miles away from being a brilliant shooter

Gears and Cod4 are both great fun games however

My preference is Halo and it wont be to everyone's taste but yes there is an obvious reason why i think what i do and i wouldn't expect you to understand this - obviously your opinion of this game is that it is merely just another shooter and clearly you miss the point

Most fps (including the few really great ones)are simpler combat experiences compared to Halo(not a bad thing) and that's fine if you prefer a simpler time but Halo is layered thanks to it's sandbox and for many that are used to this sort of arcade depth, nothing outside of this will do - and for good reason

I agree at first KZ2 was fun for me but after I got my 3rd star online it just got stale. The single player is pretty good. I thinks ODST will be fun as hell. It's funny to see so many die hard haters on this site. Just hating on anything to do with the 360. The funny part is that they are actually missing out on some pretty good games.

If I recall correctly 2years ago graphics is the main priority to sum up the overall remark of a game, but it looks like now those aren't the focus any longer. Ever since Xbox360 slowly and utterly losing on the graphic department, reviewers are changing with their viewpoint on games. What about the longevity? I remember all the PS3 games got a bad review because of that. How is it that a merely 5-6hrs Halo got a special treat? A 2yrs old gameplay did the wonders 9? Perhaps game developers could start slacking off, pay pennies to reviewers and still would get a golden pass.

Eurogamer is actually pretty harsh on all of their reviews when it comes down to it (All platforms).

A 9 is a 9, and that's that. Stop complaining over things that can't be controlled, and deal with it.

well now Gabe where to start, first off I think Killzone was nothing to write home about it was dull and clunky, picking up weapons seem a bit of a chore and the AI was no match for Halo. I'm not saying its a bad game mind you it looks stunning but otherwise thats it! Halo however is very detailed for AI and gameplay nothing is ever the same when you play it. there's always something new and different each time you play it.

There's a reason why people defend Halo and you obviously don't know what it is because you haven't played it much, there is so much more to playing a game than just looking at it.

I wonder if you are just another blind follower of the PS3 that never questions the games he plays and just buys them and plays them, never looking at the bigger picture and the amount of effort put in to making one instead of just making one quick just to make a few quick bucks, and never really paying attention to its full detail and effort put into making it.

i don't know about odst. i understand why halo 3 had some high scores because at the time FPS gaming standards weren't as high as they are now, but ODST looks like the same dated halo 3 game. then again, it is an expansion of halo 3 so it makes sense.

The fact that so many people are complaining about Halo getting a 9 is funny as hell. Of course, these are the same retards that are pissed that IGN gave Uncharted 2 a 9.5 out of a 10 instead of a 10/10. Hell, I read on another board that one guy said he could understand a 9.7 or even a 9.6 for U2 but was totally pissed at a 9.5.

I am so glad that I own both systems, though. That way I can experience the best of both worlds of this generation (not counting the Wii, because everyone knows that's not a console.... quality-wise) I'm so psyched about both ODST and UC2. I've been playing the UC2 demo for the past few days and loving every minute of it. ODST will also be an amazing experience for me.

Those who keep saying "it's not worth $60" or "it's just DLC" are still relying on old news for those statements. It has grown a whole lot since it was still Halo 3: Recon. They added Firefight, which will be hundreds of hours of fun, they still have 4-player co-op and, also for those saying that it's a 3 hour long campaign, if you haven't actually rushed it like a maniac, it would be a hell of a lot longer than that. You have a whole open-world to explore and find audio tags and other various easter eggs (while playing 4-player co-op).

This generation just sickens me. If you don't like a game, don't waste your time bashing it while you can play your favorite games.

Halo has a style and total unique and different way to play, Killzone to ME* (*just to make it clear) was just like any other FPS dull, take gears of war what was great about it? It was its duck and cover so different from other games fluid and easy to use, great co-op and online there was hardly anything wrong with it, yes it could have used a few tweaks to make it even better but its lack in places was what gave it character and made it different.

Metal Gear Solid, one of the best games i ever played in my time guess what it was on Playstation and still an iconic game so you cant tell me that i am a xbot because i have played the best on all formats and there are still loads of others out there i have not played and most likely never will, so drop all this tuff talk about halo fans and Killzone fans because in the end we are all fans of one thing or another and we are all the same trying to make a point over something that isn't really worth making a point about.

Halo ODST will most likely be a good game but only for some people that enjoy that sort of thing, just like whatever up and coming game any of you are looking forward to, because its what YOU like to play and nothing I say or anyone else will say will change your or my mind about it so enjoy what you like because it is what you or I like to play.
