Baldur's Gate 3, Larian's latest venture, has rolled over 15 million units at the time of writing, double that of Divinity: Original Sin 2.

So 42x15 million would get them 630 million if these were all steam sales we do not know what psn took so lets say 540 million minus 90million for hasbro.

$410-450million profit (well there is dev cost so minus that?) that is some dam good sales right there great work larian.

Taxes are 40%, depending on country of sale, fixed costs, operating costs, capital costs, license costs for all platforms etc. No, they are not pocketing 400M USD after costs, probably a very low double digit %. And from that % they need to fund their next project for years and years.

Profit and Revenue are two entirely different things.

I mean, they really have a bad time escaping the idea of live service games, but Hogwarts Legacy has sold upward of 24M units and that's a single-player microtransaction-less game.

Exactly some of these publishers just refuse to accept what gaming sales data tell them even when their own products are selling so well

Live service bubble needs to burst and if will because of the level of greed by these companies

They deserve every sale. This is gonna sound crazy but I purchased the digital version and ordered a physical copy just to support Larian and their business practices. I appreciate receiving a complete game with countless hours of experience and no micro transactions. Likely to leave the physical edition sealed as a collectors item.

I definately would hop in I just dont like turn based combat in video games. I love it in board games but in video games I want to be in control at all times. But Kudos for the dev team producing a masterpiece

I bought this game day 1 but I still haven't started it. I guess it's because I know I need to sink over 100 hours into it.

I just started today myself. Have some time to play and thought it would be good to play. I bought it day one as well. It's more complete than most games so I don't feel bad investing
