Call of Duty Devs Backtrack After Criticizing Kratos Actor's Campaign Joke

Several Call of Duty developers have backtracked after criticizing Kratos actor Christopher Judge's Modern Warfare 3 campaign joke.

Probably because they weren’t getting the responses to their tweets they thought they were going to get

Surprised none of them twisted it and said they were being targeted, harassed, bullied and being sent death threats in order to shift the spotlight to a sympathetic turn of events.

It’s the internet, you could say you’ve cured cancer and some dick head will send abuse your way.

Say you got death threats and harassment is literally the best online get out of jail free card or the best way to deflect any criticism.

Not saying it dosent happen but it’s becoming a trend now where it feels like it’s being used as a protective shield. Death threats? Call them out. Name and shame them.

Anytime a dev says something dumb, releases a broken game, or gets caught in a lie, at this point their PR people probably start scouring the Internet for something that can be characterized as a threat so that they change the narrative to be about the overreaction, rather than about whatever thing they did.

Dear Darcy, It's been a shit year for games like cod because the year has been filled with truly impressive masterpieces like Baldurs Gate 3, Remnant 2, Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2. Replying on social media when you're at your angriest is always a fools errand. The way they went after the God of War ip it was like Corey Balrog was taking shots at COD himself on behalf of SS. Judge wasn't even really criticizing the game, it was such a benign comment/joke. Get out of your feelings before posting.

I don't get this whole debacle. On one hand, a few of the devs are upset with Judge because (in their minds) you cannot make fun of a game when the team endured crunch and/or layoffs.
The right answer? We can, and he did. It's a joke. You'd think that with the technology barrier between our bodies and screens that any perceived "threats" (apparently including a joke that had a simple punchline and was delivered with a chuckle, in a half-joking fashion) couldn't be seen as anything other than harmless, but here we are.

People have paper thin skin and fragile egos. And they need to take a break.
I should also add: *none* of them are denying his claim.

Games aren't above criticism or jokes.
Your campaign was short and cobbled together. We all know it. It wasn't necessarily the developers fault due to the unrealistic time frames set by management but also, sometimes it's not the Director or Actors fault in a film that gets heavily criticised. But we'll still rip it out of them at awards ceremonies.
On top of the COD should be called out for their terrible cash grab of a game.
