Adding The Worst Call Of Duty On Game Pass Isn't Exactly A Good Ice Breaker

Microsoft has decided to add Modern Warfare 3 on Game Pass, but starting things off with the worst Call of Duty ever is less than ideal.

porkChop320d ago

The worst Call of Duty ever would be Black Ops Declassified for the Vita. Or COD4 for the DS. MW3 2023 probably isn't great but if you think that's the worst of the franchise you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

LucasRuinedChildhood320d ago (Edited 320d ago )

I think it's just presumed that random, poor quality handheld ports (or anything along those lines) aren't even worth considering when ranking the series.

The worst COD is Ghosts

Profchaos318d ago

To be honest as someone who actually brought it and still plays it from time to time its actually really good especially for a launch game on the vita and even more suprisingly it's still easy to get online and play today with a full lobby.

The problem stems i think from a perception issue Activision sold it as cod on the go not cod lite like it was despite being great it wasn't the same game sold on consoles that year.

I think in no way should it be the worse cod for me personally that could go to MW3 , Vanguard, or infinite warfare

Amplitude318d ago

Im with ya Profchaos. I've put way more hours into Declassified than Vanguard.
Its weird how hit and miss these games are. MW and MW2 were honestly amazing - solid length, good set pieces, memorable close quarters moments, great characters and acting, pushed boundaries on a technical level, multiplayer was complete, and - not sure about now but at least for the first little while there weren't any meme costumes in the multiplayer.

Then on the flip side you have MW3 and Vanguard, which are easily up there with Ghosts as the worst post-CoD4 releases. I know its generally hated by people who didnt play it, but I don't include Declassified in the list of bad ones. That multiplayer was soooolid

KyRo318d ago

This. The campaign and zombies are terrible but the multiplayer has been the best it's been in years. Sledgehammer has been adding events, games modes, LTM, weapons, gun conversions, maps, new attachments, new camps and has generally done a lot more in this years COD than we've ever had in its history.

MW2 which came before it was the train wreck everyone hates, not MW3. MW3 fixed almost every issue people hated about MW2

You're being generous in thinking that the author gave the topic any more thought than "how do I ragebait people?"

Unfortunately, it works. 🤔

PS: Infinite Warfare is the best CoD 😁

porkChop318d ago

While I didn't enjoy the MP so much I did think IW's campaign was actually pretty good. That game probably would be much more fondly remembered had they not called it COD. That fanbase just isn't looking for outer space or anything beyond near-future combat.

Pyrofire95318d ago

why bother even bringing those up? That's obviously out of the scope of the topic. They aren't going to bring out a DS game that 17 people played and put it on Xbox Series X.

porkChop318d ago

What are you talking about? I'm not saying anything about putting a DS game on the Series X. I'm talking about the author saying the MW3 reboot is the worst game in the history of the franchise. It factually isn't. Calling it the worst COD in recent memory would maybe make more sense. I'm just not a fan of bs hyperbole.

Modern Warfare III is far from the worst CoD ever. It's a massive improvement over 2 and is better than several others.

GamerRN318d ago

Exactly... To the author of the article...

Tell me you haven't played Ghosts without saying you haven't played Ghosts

Also...

Tell me you want to insult GamePass for adding a big game without telling me you want to insult GamePass for adding a big game...

pwnmaster3000320d ago

Honestly COD has been pretty bad for awhile. I will admit the first modern warfare reboot was the best in a long time. Now it seems to be going down hill again.

It’s really surprising people are defending COD again when all they did was bash it. I wonder why lol?

GotGame818319d ago

Yeah, it's been pretty bad for awhile. Ever since Microsoft owned the IP. 🤣😂 It will still make boat loads of money. Also, I like it!

pwnmaster3000319d ago

lol point proven. COD is great again because mS bought them but before that people was bashing it like it was crap.

thesoftware730318d ago

Believe me when I say, people are still bashing CoD, every year it's the same "CoD" sucks. MS buying them has only made it worse.

pwnmaster3000318d ago

After playing Diablo 4 and the COD I hope under MS they can be great again. I played the hell out of Diablo 3. I bought it twice, PlayStation and then the switch, but after playing Diablo 4 on game pass it just feels off. Something didn’t seem right.

Green-Smurf318d ago

People that start off by saying "call of duty has been bad for awhile" are bandwagon haters. No it hasnt. They have gotten better. Infinity ward still puts out a good product. Stop acting like it should be more than what it is. The only bad points are the stupid skins in MP. Licenses have killed it and it has become fortnite, but the campaigns are still solid

pwnmaster3000318d ago (Edited 318d ago )

Not a bandwagon hater. Fell in love with COD playing big red 1 and played the majority of it. It’s gotten worse.
Like I said above, the first reboot was great and ignited my love for COD, but the other is ass.
Sorry is just my opinion, and don’t get me started with the whole making an activision account.

thesoftware730318d ago (Edited 318d ago )

pwnmaster,

Love D4, started off a bit rocky, but the game is in a really great place right now

you should hit level 50, open up that Paragon board and then shit gets real, by level 100 you really will have to use all your skills and abilities to beat Pitts, Nightmare dungeons, and Uber bosses.

Great game, if you want some help PM me, we can play, I can show you the ropes and bring you up to speed, that goes for anyone who reads this as well.

Also just like you, I played D3 three times, 360, Xbox one, and then on PS4 with my brother lol.

I wonder why the older and “classic” COD titles weren’t dropped into Gamepass? Unfortunately, I have never played COD 1. Sometimes have an itch to replay Big Red 1 and COD 2, and Gamepass drops would make this more convenient.
