Capcom end-of-year survey forgets Xbox store exists

Capcom has put out a new end-of-year survey asking players which of its upcoming titles they are looking forward to, but Xbox fans might notice that the Microsoft platform doesn't get as much love as the others.

"so when you get to the question "How do you prefer to purchase games?" you'll see multiple options for the various other platforms and storefronts, but no mention of Xbox — just an 'other' field, and without its own text field to even drop in a mention for Xbox"

It's not there because Capcom knows the majority of Xbox owners nowadays do not actually buy games, they get whatever they can get through GP, which is why they are bundled with other.

Chevalier900d ago

Plus let's be honest the vast majority of their sales are Nintendo and Playstation by far. I would bet PC sales even beat Xbox sales too.

DVAcme899d ago

@Chevalier Exactly what I was thinking. Plus, Nintendo and Sony platforms by far have way bigger userbases who are fans of Japanese games, the XBox userbase is very Western-orientated. And the PC userbase is just MASSIVE, so they'll outsell XBox on sheer numbers alone. Hell, even though Game Pass is available for PC, the vast majority of PC players still prefer to save money by buying games they want on Steam sales than waiting for a game they want to by chance pop up on Game Pass.

Chevalier899d ago

@DVAcme and RpgSama

Its hilarious when everyone says that no one buys games on Xbox and yet their fans are in so much denial. They ask why companies turn down Xbox for Playstation and Nintendo instead. When Xbox and Microsoft point out in their own quarter and annual sales and specifically cite dropped 3rd party sales.

Just look at these links. That 2021 and 2022 back to back years where 3rd party sales dropped. When in the pandemic everyone's sales went up. Xbox sales went down.

Vits900d ago

What makes this funnier is that the Xbox itself is mentioned in basically all the other questions and if I had to guess, I would bet that most of Capcom's sales on Xbox come from the Xbox Online Store.

Flawlessmic900d ago (Edited 900d ago )

The only thing I took from this article Is pragmata was mentioned!!!

I thought it was vapourware for sure, but if capcom included it in then it might be real after all.

TheColbertinator900d ago

Put the survey on GamePass then.

MADGameR899d ago

X Box guys don't buy games. The sales reflect it. MS has conditioned them to get used to the WEF's plan for humanity in the future with Gamepass. ''You will own nothing and you will be happy'

Chevalier899d ago

Find it funny this constantly is brought up and Xbox fans are in denial.

https://www.gamedeveloper.c...

Except how can you be in denial when Xbox/Microsoft themselves in multiple reports show that 3rd party sales have fallen off a cliff?! It's steep enough to be mentioned in quarterly reports?! This isn't some random news that's unconfirmed this is straight from the source and confirmed.

https://www.google.com/amp/...

Just look this is their most recent report and again revenues have dropped again. They cite decreased 1st and 3rd party sales too. Again straight from Xbox/Microsoft reports too.

Darkhorizon899d ago

Klaus Schwab is the one who downvoted you.

Chevalier899d ago

Meh. People are allowed to disagree. But funny to see disagrees to the truth. Xbox games don't buy games. Back to back years with 3rd party sales dropping. What almost 15% drop? 1st party sales dropped too. The site I posted is confirmed by Microsoft/Xbox own reports! Even points out that increased Gamepass didn't prevent losses.

"The report says gaming revenue decreased by 7% year-over-year ($259 million) and the company also saw an 11% decrease in Xbox hardware revenue"

https://mobidictum.biz/micr...

Posting some huge losses.

ninja Gaiden being released 8 days apart is insane MS hasn't learned anything with shoulder to shoulder releases. October 29 for Outer Worlds and October 21 for Ninja Gaiden. These games now range from 60 to 80$. Yalls audience might GP it but other platforms have to buy it and your average person won't shell out that kinda money a week apart.

franwex1d 2h ago

Aren’t those games made for different audiences though?

Lightning7718h ago(Edited 18h ago)

Yes but what if you want both?

Not everyone can buy both.

Reaper22_1d 1h ago

Well, you dont have to buy it. Noone is making gamers buy it a week apart. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Lightning7718h ago

You want another Doom The Dark Ages scenario? I'm surprised Oblivion and Expedition 33 did well with a simultaneous release. Clearly that fatigue was definitely felt with Doom.

They need at least 2 weeks apart.

coolbeans20h ago

You're talking about a first-person RPG and a third-person action game though. So, it's a bit different than EA putting Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 back-to-back.

Petebloodyonion6h ago

Last I checked, Ninja Gaiden was published by Koei Tecmo and not MS.

I count 7 original multiplatform IPs, which were ultimately bought and are now published by Microsoft.

Sigh.

If you look closer again, then you'll notice that I, at any point, didn't even mentioned the adjective "bad".

But you.

16h ago
Lightning7715h ago

The "sigh" means your displeased. Don't make excuses why is it bad?

dveio15h ago(Edited 15h ago)

Nope, 'displeased' ain't the feeling I had when reading that article.

But speaking of pleasure:

Are you personally pleased with that line-up Xbox have in store for you in the Series' fifth year?

Edit: I didn't downvote you.

goken4h ago

To be fair “sigh” could also mean relief, happiness… although it is also often interpreted as some form of negative expression

Lightning7714h ago

Still making excuses. What's the issue with this?

1Victor6h ago

@light:” What's the issue with this?”

The issue is your thickness a reasonable player would buy one of the two game that are close to each other release and at minimum get it to halfway/finish it and then buy the other at a later time🤦🏿.
Not everyone try to break the speed run record on every game 🫩

It would be nice if they had the lottery in other parts of the world as well.

CrimsonWing699d ago

I’m hoping Xbox Showcase will be where the Remake gets announced… freaking all this stuff with FF9’s anniversary and still nothing on the Remake…
