I think that'd equate to 40+hrs for me. I don't go straight through the main story but I'm also not a completionist.

camel_toad835d ago

Yeh unless someone is speed running I would guess 30 hours is the absolute minimum.

4Sh0w835d ago

Yeah 30-35hrs is plenty for me.

Eidolon835d ago

Lol yeah the first time. Think that's just average. Playstyle, skill, general alertness and focus, time reading, etc. could take that down or up. A speedrunner could take a 30hr main-story playthrough down to like 3 hrs or less XD. I was looking at times for Dark Souls 3 no glitch speed runs and saw 3hrs, and HZD 1 hr 44 mins... RIDICULOUS.

jBlakeeper835d ago

Yeah I usually add about ten hours onto the tally also. I really try and take all of it in and do not rush through games. I don’t have the patience to be a completionist but I like to complete most of the content in a game. About 80-90 percent of it.

Eidolon835d ago

Same. I don't know if I have 100%ed anything just out of fun. I'll play it for fun but 100% is just not something I will go for.

Demetrius834d ago

Agree I love to explore and find out new things within open world games ☺️

Aloymetal835d ago

Best thing about Soulborne games is the replayability factor.

CrimsonWing69835d ago

Isn’t that the norm for these games?

I feel like one boss can take me that long. I am just really bad at this kind of games.

pietro1212835d ago

Same here, but I really like playing these games from time to time

KillaJamm834d ago

I was thinking the same, it's taken me 15 hours to beat about 6 bosses so far on Demon Souls lol

It sounds like you’re just an eldenring fan and not so much a fan of games by and large. Which theres nothing wrong with.

RoadRacer1d 22h ago

The author's profile appears to state otherwise. I believe they just got a massive shock with Elden Ring, something that stuck around. To each their own I guess

Crows902d ago

Elden ring ruined from software for me....maybe.

I hope their next game isn't open world too...

ravens522d ago

I have yet to beat Elden Ring. Not cause it's too hard , I've beaten Sekiro, Bloodborne, Demon Souls etc. Also I could just make my character op but I prefer to play under leveled. It's too big. I beat Radaghan or the moon lady last then got lost, lost for years lol. I'm going to beat it tho. Haven't played it in a while

Crows901d 22h ago

I platinumed the game but hated the open world aspect...started great but then after a bit you notice all the repeated dungeons and bosses...it got massively tedious and much preferred late game areas in a typical souls game than the open world repetition.

GhostScholar1d 21h ago

The ole “I’m so good at hard games I had to play under leveled to get challenged and if I worked that hard in real life I wouldn’t be working at Walmart”

ravens5222h ago

? Don't work at Walmart or any type of retail...lol. But w.e. Makes you feel better about ya sad life 🤷🏽 lol. You probably just suck at games lmao.

I loved it but yeah it is just overwhelmingly massive and confusing, I don’t think I’ll ever finish it.

Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.

kevco3337d ago

Still DS1? You don't feel it's been surpassed yet?

Demon's Souls has the remake of course, but DS1 has surely been outdated?

Smellsforfree37d ago

I think that the DS1 remake is better looking than DS2. The interior lighting matched with the low resolution textures in DS2 is very garish, IMO.

Besides graphics, what do you mean by DS1 being "outdated"? I'm someone who played through Elden Ring and just recently played through the DS series, and as far as gameplay went, there were all very similar.

Cacabunga37d ago

I haven’t played many but Bloodborne and NIOH1 are on top of my list.. had a blast with these 2

toxic-inferno37d ago

For world design and interconnectedness (that's a word, right?) DS1 is yet to be beaten.

anast5d ago

All great games beside DS2.

toxic-inferno5d ago

I would agree, but there are some things in DS2 that are great and incredibly memorable. It tries to do things differently, and there are some amazingly cinematic moments.

Of course, there's also poor level design (particularly the interconnectivity of the world), questionable combat choices and some of the worst boss runs since the early days of video games...

anast5d ago

True. I can't disagree the game has some moments.
