Thanks to the Destination Home Team working in tandem with the PSOne Emulation Team, PlayStation Home is back online this 2021 on the PS3.
Now bring it into the PS5 era as a PSVR2 social hub and we're talking!
That would be awesome. Wonder if the fans can pull that off.
It was a sad day when they stopped this service.. the community gave them so many good idea they chose not listen.. people want the trophy score to be used in home, or simply get rewards from unlocking the trophies..
If there was a time to do this, it would be now. Imagine PS Home intergrated with Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, etc. It could work, and open a new revenue stream for Sony, and new earnings potential for influencers, etc.
While I understand why you said it, I hated the idea of everything you just said.
And expand on the housing and furniture offerings, allow for quick jump-in to HOME from the startup screen, and integrate a way for unique items to be acquired for games that platinum trophies have been earned in
Ah yes good times. I remember bowling, making psn friends, dance parties, flirting with girls, and pretending to be a girl with hoards of dudes following me lol. I even created eu and jp accounts because they had their own unique hub area and game spaces. It was just dumb fun.
In hindsight, this would have been great in the current climate.
I still think the ps5 is getting it with London studio making an "online game" they keep posting. They also have experience making VR games so who knows. It would be amazing as a free game packed with the psvr2.
HOME was a broken mess last time, and it still makes no sense now. This whole META verse hype - i just dont see it. VR or not makes no difference. We are far off!
Far off from what?
Far off from VR chat type platforms being on a game console? Very likely aren't btw, just more the question that if one existed would it support interactive games within itself. Offer flawless launching into other games with a spectator option. I mean, imagine hosting a DB FighterZ tournament at you lunar mansion where guest can see it in realtime on a massive screen. About the actual level stage with some as DBZ characters commenting while waiting their turn.
Far off? Lol the virtual spacing has taken off already, since the PS4 era. Home was released a bit ahead of its time when it should have came out later in the ps4 life cycle instead of 3.it certainly would have found loads more success today than back then
HOME was 10 years ahead of its time, dam I miss Xi
VR and the META are here to stay and they're only going to keep on growing. There will be something for everybody.
Issue there is META's trademarked by a notorious info miner who plans to lock you out of your own VR rig no matter how much money you've sunk into it.
you have no imagination
Oh hell yes! I'm firing up my PS3 and checking this out on my days off! 😆😆😆 .. I was with Home from the start back in 2008 and miss bowling with folks on there.
Been meaning to mod my PS3 just for this, guess it's time I finally do it!
Sony shouldn't have dropped this. It was a cool experience for a lot of people.
I honestly don't get why Sony ended support. We are in the micro transaction era. The amount of money Sony would be making right now selling outfits would be insane.
It was a fn rip off, I thought you sonyboys were against MT's but it's ok if on home? Home was the place to be if you sucked at gaming, half the people on home didn't even own games and were only there to try and hook up ... Brake out your ps3's and see how your nostalgia is blinding you.
home was f2p so MT is ok to cover you know server costs, staff wages etc etc. Its full priced games like activsion and EA we hate.
You had to buy a ps3 to get into home, it was never free.
@Everton Tell that to the Only Sonys that are ripping into Halo Infinite for having cosmetics. Guess that's what happens when you spend years begging for a game to be bad and it ends up not being the case; you grasp at anything you can spin as a negative and run with it.
I forgot about this... It always seemed like such a cool idea, but for some reason it never clicked with me in a way that made me want to keep playing. The one thing I remember from it is.. I forget the context, but a bunch of us stood outside of a shop with Santa hats on and did a headbang emote, and it looked like we were banging on the doors, like people do on Black Friday. It probably doesn't sound that interesting, but that was such a fun moment, and again the only thing I really remember. It's just neat when people come together in a game like that. There was one time in a Halo 2 multiteam match where I got most teams together and we just stood in the middle of the map and hung out. Then the one team that didn't come together with us started shooting, and we all ganged up on them. Looking back, it was incredibly unsportsmanlike for us to team up like that, but it was still fun.
I logged in once and they put me in a line to wait for bowling. It was turned off and deleted. It was cool to walk around for like half an hour and see the game exhibits but I don’t understand the appeal honestly.
