PS3 won in sales because it's not a sprint but a marathon but those first 2-3 years of the 360 were some of my favourite gaming years. Gears of War is still probably my favourite console shooter and then they had games way ahead of their time like Chromehounds and Shadowrun.

I’m not exactly sure what the point if the series x is. It was billed as the best place to play third parties and we’ve seen that was just a lie.

PS5 actually has launch games, new UI, ground breaking controller and is the better performing machine on multi platform games.

SM:MM was a fine spin off but it wasnt only on the 5. Same with sack boy. The only game you could call a launch game was astro and that was free.

The SX didnt have launch games either. Crossgen are exactly that, crossgen. And the big selling point of the 5 is the controller while the selling point of Series is it makes old games feel new. Something the 5 does as well. Like I said, both wont get their own games (no way in hell possible on 8th gen) until 2022.

Just accept it.. both released too soon.

My X has already died. Need to send it back... Sucks as I was enjoying it, seeing as though I skipped Xbox One. Do they refund/pause your game pass ultimate while its unable to be used? Sucks you need to supply your own box, bubble wrap etc... to send in. Already a pain it died with minimal use but then to have to do extra things to send it in is not user friendly.
Thankfully the wife was able to score a me a PS5. That was the system I wanted more. However, after playing both I am missing the seriesX.

Razzer, this may just be a bit to easy to understand but the One X already had the marketing slogan of "The most powerful console" and the Series X had to change before launch to be more specific.

So maybe MS could have stuck with it but would had to change it to be "The most powerful console of 9th gen" or something to that effect. Simplifying it by changing console to xbox made more sense (and only had to change 1 word).

Regardless why it was changed, the message is still the same. Series X is still the most powerful console, AND the most powerful Xbox. Both can be correct.

You want there to be a reason, and that reason is the 5 but thats just not the case.

Nah, I don't buy any of that. "Most powerful console" was no longer the slogan. "Fastest. Most powerful." was the slogan so nothing you said actually applies. However, Microsoft still made the "most powerful console" claim in their marketing. There is nothing keeping anyone from continuing to make that claim unless the legitimacy is questionable which we see now to be the case.

I think Microsoft got wind of the real deal from developers who had access to PS5 and punted that whole "most powerful console" claim as a result. That claim was made entirely on teraflops as that was the only metric available. Things went different with real world results and they knew they could not keep making these claims.

You started the silly comparisons with pretending reviewing some random unpurchased product at Amazon is the same thing as rating these consoles based on the performance analysis provided by DF and others. We have extensive information at our disposal to judge the performance of these consoles. We are not uninformed as we follow this industry extremely closely and owning the actual consoles is NOT going to change the results reported by DF and others. Hard to agree with you though, my PS5 after a few initial patches are running perfectly now, it only crashes when playing cyberpunk, which we all know isn't Sony's fault.

The controller feel next gen, the UI feel next gen, I have played a lot of new games launched with the console, even if some of them are also available on PS4, I can at least get to experience something new on a new console. Which is why Halo Infinite was so critical for XBox Series X.

I played Spiderman: MM, Demon's Souls, Astro Playroom... 2 of the 3 are only available on PS5

And I played Cyberpunk and AC Valhalla, which both run better or on par with XBox Series X. I thought about getting Xbox for third party games and I realized that is not true as well.

When I am done with Cyberpunk and Valhalla (two freaking huge games), Sony will have their next exclusive available... so far we already know Ratchet and Clank, new Horizon, new God of War, GT7 and a few other games are coming in 2021...

But for Xbox, we don't even know if turn the last version of halo around and release a decent game in 2021

It’s a great system that’s only gonna get better. Hopefully covid 19 does not destroy the 2021 games lineup. I think that can apply to all companies right now. Pretty satisfied with the performance next gen has offered so far especially considering how hot some of these titles came in. It’s nice my body has one and I was supremely happy with picture quality and this is coming from a guy with a beautiful oled. It’s bright, colours are good and brightness and contrast are supreme for led tech. Then you have next gen features with no burn in and I am starting to see artifacts in my slow moving hdr shots on my oled

Well sony isn't ms so there's the first difference, ms also promised allsorts of improvements throughout last gen without anything really coming of it, so there's the second.
The ps3 launched with games built for it, there's the third.
At the end of the day nobody is writing off the xbox, they are writing off the massive power difference narrative that was spread over nothing more than a tf number.
The very real lack of games made for the system, especially at launch isn't great either.

Sony has been as consistent as they come with their game releases. Xbox 4 generations in and almost at 20 years and we are still waiting for consistent game releases. Unlike Xbox the wait on Playstation was always worth it in the end. Just look at Xbox One and how it has been all generation. Lack of games throughout in both quantity and quality. Don't forget the Nintendo Switch has had more exclusives in the last 4 years than Xbox had all generation.

Every launch PS3 game was a mess every last one of them. It lacked features the 360 had that mattered far more than Bluetooth or not having a MircroSD card reader. But even with Call of Duty 3 missing geometry and running worse, even with Genji being awful, Resistance being average at best and Ridge Racer being a reskin of the previous game on 360. It would have been silly to simply write off the platform entirely, the potential was there.

The Series X isn't perfect, I've stated before as an owner that it has its "meh" elements. Its on the first page of my previous comments. But to write it off based on some launch games or a lack of "next gen" UI? Thats not how unbiased, balanced people operate when it comes to a device thats supposed to be around for years.

I want you to maybe keep in mind, that some people really are capable of enjoying more than one platform. I'm very excited to get a PS5 sometime in 2021 to play Demons Souls and Miles Morales, I think that controller has the potential to be amazing. The difference is I can also be excited to see what Nintendo and Microsoft are also cooking, I enjoy games not corporate branding.

The entire point of what I was saying is that talking about the performance of ANY console this early isn't reasonable, the PS3 produced some of the best games of that gen but if it was written off after less than two months on shelves what would we have missed?

4 generations? OG Xbox was consistent and halfway through 360 generation they were consistent. MS can do WAY better but it wasn't all 4 generation in its entirety.

If you line up all Sony developed games against MS developed games from the PS2 to now, I dont think you're going to find as large a disparity as you think. You're under estimating the amount of games they published digitally on the 360 and Xbox One. Both publishers have put out plenty of games, its just they aren't always going to be what you want. I dont care about Killer Instinct or Recore but I also would rather drown myself than play things like The Getaway, The Order or Days Gone. You think I was thrilled with the Eye toy on the PS2?

All alright, let's get real here's a quick review. Ps5 has some games, haptic feedback, and New UI that sets it apart from series X. I'm not mentioning anything that the other has its own version of.

I would not give the UI an actual point given it takes sony forever to make any changes to the UI where MS is constantly making changes to its UI therefore it doesn't feel new since it always being improved upon. Think of this as Android vs Ios updates.

as it stands right now Ps5 has a new controller and some games that set it apart from Series X. Series X has resume gameplay and is still waiting for games. I'm not counting 3rd party games You can downvote all you want but it's the truth when you let the smoke clear.
We can talk about the teraflops and we can also talk about that magic SSD but right now PS5 is the better buy given this breakdown simply on available stuff. Neither has a true Next-gen game out are either one a must-buy? No

I'd say 7 out of 10 too. Runs great, quiet, cool. Early on was getting outperformed by a lesser powerful system. Gamepass is God sent, but no new first party games. Yep 7 sounds about right.

I get all systems so I am not a fanboy of any particular console, but I am a mp gamer and I thought xbox was speaking my language this gen advertising lower latency and higher framerates and was excited for Halo. But I am sick of always waiting with microsoft. Always promises of what is to come. No Halo right now, the PS5 actually has the frame rate advantage in most games, and here we are again waiting on more promises in the future. After not being able to secure a next gen console at preorder or launch i finally just said the heck with it and ordered a monster gaming PC.

I bought Xbox One day one and wished I had waited a year. Xbox One X is a great console and fully capable with new and current games.

I’m leaning towards PS5 when we clear the scalpers in a couple of months. And hoping for black and a smaller console.

It's a good machine especially if you don't have a high-end gaming PC.

I love Halo and gears but luckily I can play them on my computer these days I'm telling you guys if I can play God of war and the other Sony exclusives on my PC I would not own a PS5 either.

And if I never had a gaming PC I would own the series X along with my PS5.

The only winner in being able to play all games is the gamer........ console wars are foolish
