Switch guys have a lot to be happy about for sure when it comes to how popular their machine is- (I own 4 , or I should say my household has 4 and uses 3, all OLEDs and one disused launch Switch ( mine) sitting in a drawer someplace) NS came out several years before either of the other two boxes, and at a considerably lower price, it also is selling less than half of PS5 currently, but still double the xbox, but combining xbox and PS5 the Switch is doing around 40% of the sales on hardware - which is pretty good but its also basically a handheld and straddles two markets. Adjusted for price, the PS5 has sold more value, and adjusted for time and price, the dollar percentage of the market is heavily Sony. The switch def has a huge portion of the kid and casual market and often sells multiple per household.

Funny how the console with 'no games' outsells its key competitor by nearly 1 million units.

Xbox fans now only have gamepass to brag about and how they always get day one "free" games haha

dveio23d ago

Game Pass shows its full conceptual strength seen in times like these:

Many games D1, you can't really decide which one to play first.

The downside for MS though:

You need those subscriptions, because they lose revenue usually gained from retail.

If this ratio is not balanced pro Gamepass, then it will be an incredibly expensive year to bring so many D1 games into the GP in 2025.

Careful, you summoned the alts nintendo shield.

..It takes all kinds, I suppose.

It's crazy to think that Xbox turned into a mobile app this gen (I called it years ago by the way.). Going from a clumsy but promising start in the 360 to this is shocking. The levels of mismanagement in this company is actually stunning.

Hideo Kojima is a little bummed as Death Stranding 2 is testing way better

"I'm not interested in appealing to the mass market, or selling millions of copies."

I’m replaying the first game it’s great. It’s not for everyone no doubt. There are still a lot of people playing it.

Then why do a sequel straight away?

Why not something else like maybe a horror game similar to Silent Hills but rebranded into a new IP.

Reverse psychology...ok I won't buy it then.

To be honest, he is in a great situation if he doesn't have to make a mass market product. Means he can make what he wants. I think that's great.

For some reason this reminds me of issues artist have brought up regarding AI 'art'. Where literally everything is sourced from other artists. Invluding AI art in games seems like a legal nightmare.

S2Killinit1h ago

If AI is left alone as a free platform similar to what we did with the internet, it wouldnt be an issue. But if we allow companies to patent parts of the i termet as theor own walled gardens, then yes, there would be patent wars and legal nightmare.

As to this, the title is misleading, the game’s art is not plagiarism, someone included a painting(s) that beloned to some artist, in the code.

Eonjay1h ago

Well, do you think companies should be able to include AI generated art in their game if the art is generated using the work from other people? Or should AI art be considered original and the source work be considered inspiration?

Ninver39m ago

Shut up and finish the game off. Hopefully it doesn't suck.
