DASH reflects his thoughts on the glaring omission made during Nintendo's surprise announcement of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars. But where was Super Mario Galaxy 2?

If the collection included Galaxy 2, the whiners would be "but hey where's SM3DWorld?!!!"
Depending on the price I think it could be a fantastic deal, depending on the price. Also I really prefer them to be ports (not emulation, ports) rather than remasters. These are master pieces, you shouldn't change them at all. Mario 64 is not something like RE2 (which was a master piece, but certainly lacking in many many areas, gameplay not being the least one). Sometimes with Remasters / remakes I feel they do what people used to do back in the 60s/70s/80s with oldies, when they colorized them!!! The original look of some of those old movies where forever lost... Is not gonna happen with Mario of course, but you need to appreciate the look of the era

RpgSama1695d ago

Lol, praising nintendo for NOT including a game that should've been there, typical.

Fluttershy771695d ago (Edited 1695d ago )

Did I? I do praised them for not remastering the games. It's 3 excellent games for the price of... well I don't know: we'll see

georeo1695d ago

Them kind of people never change..hell if Mario 64 was $60 alone on the switch they would still buy it. I don't get it.

bouzebbal1695d ago

It'll never be the same as with a wiimote.. And tell what switch gets other than ports.. Crazy

Rachel_Alucard1695d ago (Edited 1695d ago )

With Nintendo, you know every game will be full price even without them saying anything. and of course they sell 3D world separately for $60 as predicted since they know people will buy it. Next year, get ready for Twilight Princess and Skyward sword in one bundle for full price, while they sell Windwaker HD for full price and people will defend them again. The fact they sold Tropical freeze on Switch for $60 set the standards in motion and it's sad nothings changed since 2005 with them.

This collection is $60... for a 24, 18 and 13 years old games...

Levii_921695d ago

I kind of figured this already but it sucks cause it will probably be only digital. It would have been soooo good if it was in that collection.

DashGamer1695d ago

I agree, but I understand Nintendo's business acumen kicks in while trying to devise a plan ahead of time. Not defending them here, but there's certainly a plan at hand for Galaxy 2's omission.

LoveSpuds1695d ago (Edited 1695d ago )

I can understand a little of the disappoint with the earlier games not getting the full remake treatment, of course this is something we would all love.

But, at the same time, people had built this expectation out of nothing more than an unconfirmed rumour and some are now acting like Nintendo had failed to deliver on something they had promised. Ultimately, they are simply offering a chance for millions upon millions of gamers, many of who weren't even borne when the games came out, a chance to play some classic mario titles.

I was caught up in the hype of the rumour mill too, but that just shows the danger of believing bullshit from forums. I am still excited for all the Mario I can get my mitts on on Switch and I am excited to play all three games on the collection.

refocusedman1695d ago (Edited 1695d ago )

How abt they work on providing new experiences instead rehashing old titles and charging full price for them. They seem like the only company that can't create remakes and new titles.

LoveSpuds1695d ago (Edited 1695d ago )

If you honestly believe that each of the Mario games are mere rehashes of what's gone before then I don't know what to tell you squire. The only thing the 3d Mario games have in common is the lead character, but otherwise they are independently fantastic games, each loaded with its own unique mechanics.

As for new games recently, it's fair to say that this year has been a little light on new exclusives, but previous years have been pretty good, certainly Nintendo have released more quality games than Microsoft over the last 4 years in my opinion. Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Astral Chain, Splatoon 2, Mario Maker, Super Smash, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Yoshi's crafted World, Mario v Rabbids and Paper Mario all spring to mind as exclusives that I have on my shelf which have never fallen below a great standard, with many being utterly fantastic experiences.

refocusedman1695d ago

I never said that each mario game is a rehashof whats gone before. When you take a game from 10 years ago and cut and paste it onto a new system, its characterized as a rehash not a remake. As for nintendos selection mariokart is abt 6 yrs old, zelda was released on wii u, mario vs rabbids 🤷🏿‍♂️ and the rest of those titles excluding odyessy/Astral chain were good but certainly not great.

SpeedDemon1695d ago

Why do you assume that they're not working on new games? Can they not do both?

DashGamer1695d ago

I'm with you. I was sceptical on the entire situation, but after the announcement I swooned. Couldn't help it. Can't wait to play them.

TheEnigma3131695d ago (Edited 1695d ago )

foe the price tag, all 3d marios should be on this collection.

DashGamer1695d ago

Agreed. I would have also loved to see a rerez/upscaled Super Mario 3D Land in this bundle too.

Lionsguard1695d ago

Why is it that the biggest piece of news isn't that this is a LIMITED RELEASE even DIGITALLY. This is Nintendo again, creating artificial scarcity and preying on FOMO. Why do Nintendo fans just bend over backwards for every dumb thing Nintendo does to screw over people?

DashGamer1695d ago

Loyalists can drown out the glaring issues that become apparent after a release like this. There is a strong crowd clamouring about Nintendo's blatant omissions and oversights, but fanboys will be fanboys.

Double_O_Revan1695d ago

I've hated Nintendo for years. They just have their heads so far up their own asses. They are not a consumer friendly company. But their fans don't mind the abuse one bit, in fact it seems they enjoy it. I'm having a hard time thinking of another company that would get away with the crap they pull. Maybe Disney, but still not in the capacity that Nintendo gets a pass.

Super Mario Odyssey Turns Seven - Ranking the 3D Mario Games

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "With the Switch getting on in years and the prospect of a new Nintendo console growing closer, now seems like an excellent time to take a look back at one of its mascot’s two big evolutionary lines, particularly since we now find ourselves in the longest wait ever between 3D Mario games. Today marks the seven year anniversary for the release of Super Mario Odyssey, and with no full new entry in sight, it comfortably beats the roughly six year wait between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, which should also be good news to anybody who broke a mirror that day.

3D Mario has delighted fans since 1996, maintaining an astonishing level of quality and bringing innovations not just to the 3D platformer genre, but gaming as a whole. Needless to say, it’s a hard task to rank a series where every entry is beloved, but I shall nevertheless undertake this risky venture with my head held high. Wish me luck."

One of the worst marios.. i hated the fact it was only about finding the moons and very repetitive with the same bosses. There is no exploration in this one.
Galaxy 2 is still unmatched

TiredGamer180d ago

I played, completed, and enjoyed Mario Odyssey, but I tend to agree that I don't think it's the best 3D Mario. There was sense of sameness that prevailed after the first couple of worlds... not in the levels, environments, or aesthetics, but in the routine of each world. It just felt like each new environment was just the beginning of another checklist of moons to acquire, and the sheer number of them took away the sense of accomplishment I got from the stars in Mario 64 and the like. I can't exactly put my finger on why that is. Galaxy gets my nod as the best one.

Cacabunga180d ago

I enjoyed it too but i won’t even place it in my top10 mario games.. as you said you are just looking for stars and that irritating music everytime you find one.
Also the bosses are pretty much the same from begging to end. I would have have like some koopalings instead of these dumb useless rabbits

Chocoburger180d ago

I played a little of this game and freakin' LOVED it! But I forced myself to stop because I hadn't played Galaxy 2, which I've been playing every day for the past week. Cripes, Galaxy 2 is way better than I expected it to be! Even though I dislike the Wiimote and nunchuck controls, and it annoyed me a lot with Galaxy 1, part 2 just feels better and slightly less gimmicky when it comes to the controls.

Profchaos180d ago

Sunshine at number 7 no way. I get it's not perfect but it deserves better to date there has not been another 3d Mario that's managed to capture that same movement it's the most acrobatic feeling Mario to date.

It's by and large better than 3d land/world and I'd argue that galaxy 2 didn't offer any trie innovation it was essentially a DLC pack to 1

Personally it's
1) Mario 64
2) Mario Sunshine
3) Mario galaxy
4) Mario Odyssey
5) galaxy 2
6) Bowser fury
7) 3d land/ world.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.

Knightofelemia1506d ago

I know it's not a Wii title but it can be played on the Wii I want the Metroid Prime games on the Switch I have never played them.

darthv721506d ago

I wouldnt mind seeing a conduit compilation on the switch.

Yi-Long1505d ago

Would like to see MadWorld getting a proper new release.
