DASH reflects his thoughts on the glaring omission made during Nintendo's surprise announcement of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars. But where was Super Mario Galaxy 2?
If the collection included Galaxy 2, the whiners would be "but hey where's SM3DWorld?!!!" Depending on the price I think it could be a fantastic deal, depending on the price. Also I really prefer them to be ports (not emulation, ports) rather than remasters. These are master pieces, you shouldn't change them at all. Mario 64 is not something like RE2 (which was a master piece, but certainly lacking in many many areas, gameplay not being the least one). Sometimes with Remasters / remakes I feel they do what people used to do back in the 60s/70s/80s with oldies, when they colorized them!!! The original look of some of those old movies where forever lost... Is not gonna happen with Mario of course, but you need to appreciate the look of the era
Lol, praising nintendo for NOT including a game that should've been there, typical.
Did I? I do praised them for not remastering the games. It's 3 excellent games for the price of... well I don't know: we'll see
Them kind of people never change..hell if Mario 64 was $60 alone on the switch they would still buy it. I don't get it.
It'll never be the same as with a wiimote.. And tell what switch gets other than ports.. Crazy
With Nintendo, you know every game will be full price even without them saying anything. and of course they sell 3D world separately for $60 as predicted since they know people will buy it. Next year, get ready for Twilight Princess and Skyward sword in one bundle for full price, while they sell Windwaker HD for full price and people will defend them again. The fact they sold Tropical freeze on Switch for $60 set the standards in motion and it's sad nothings changed since 2005 with them.
This collection is $60... for a 24, 18 and 13 years old games...
I kind of figured this already but it sucks cause it will probably be only digital. It would have been soooo good if it was in that collection.
I agree, but I understand Nintendo's business acumen kicks in while trying to devise a plan ahead of time. Not defending them here, but there's certainly a plan at hand for Galaxy 2's omission.
I can understand a little of the disappoint with the earlier games not getting the full remake treatment, of course this is something we would all love. But, at the same time, people had built this expectation out of nothing more than an unconfirmed rumour and some are now acting like Nintendo had failed to deliver on something they had promised. Ultimately, they are simply offering a chance for millions upon millions of gamers, many of who weren't even borne when the games came out, a chance to play some classic mario titles. I was caught up in the hype of the rumour mill too, but that just shows the danger of believing bullshit from forums. I am still excited for all the Mario I can get my mitts on on Switch and I am excited to play all three games on the collection.
How abt they work on providing new experiences instead rehashing old titles and charging full price for them. They seem like the only company that can't create remakes and new titles.
If you honestly believe that each of the Mario games are mere rehashes of what's gone before then I don't know what to tell you squire. The only thing the 3d Mario games have in common is the lead character, but otherwise they are independently fantastic games, each loaded with its own unique mechanics. As for new games recently, it's fair to say that this year has been a little light on new exclusives, but previous years have been pretty good, certainly Nintendo have released more quality games than Microsoft over the last 4 years in my opinion. Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Astral Chain, Splatoon 2, Mario Maker, Super Smash, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Yoshi's crafted World, Mario v Rabbids and Paper Mario all spring to mind as exclusives that I have on my shelf which have never fallen below a great standard, with many being utterly fantastic experiences.
I never said that each mario game is a rehashof whats gone before. When you take a game from 10 years ago and cut and paste it onto a new system, its characterized as a rehash not a remake. As for nintendos selection mariokart is abt 6 yrs old, zelda was released on wii u, mario vs rabbids 🤷🏿♂️ and the rest of those titles excluding odyessy/Astral chain were good but certainly not great.
Why do you assume that they're not working on new games? Can they not do both?
I'm with you. I was sceptical on the entire situation, but after the announcement I swooned. Couldn't help it. Can't wait to play them.
They did fail to deliver. They have remade Zelda 64 and Majora's Mask for 3DS, bringing them up to modern standards, especially if you run them in an emulator in HD. They have remastered Windwaker & Twilight Princess. All people have wanted was a Super Mario 64 HD Definitive Edition, with all the DS additions, in wide screen, HD textures, and updated character and level models. You'd think one of their flagship games would get the gold star AAA treatment after all these years. I mean look at how they went above and beyond for the advance ports of the mario games.
foe the price tag, all 3d marios should be on this collection.
Agreed. I would have also loved to see a rerez/upscaled Super Mario 3D Land in this bundle too.
Why is it that the biggest piece of news isn't that this is a LIMITED RELEASE even DIGITALLY. This is Nintendo again, creating artificial scarcity and preying on FOMO. Why do Nintendo fans just bend over backwards for every dumb thing Nintendo does to screw over people?
Loyalists can drown out the glaring issues that become apparent after a release like this. There is a strong crowd clamouring about Nintendo's blatant omissions and oversights, but fanboys will be fanboys.
I've hated Nintendo for years. They just have their heads so far up their own asses. They are not a consumer friendly company. But their fans don't mind the abuse one bit, in fact it seems they enjoy it. I'm having a hard time thinking of another company that would get away with the crap they pull. Maybe Disney, but still not in the capacity that Nintendo gets a pass.
They shouldn’t have named it 3D Allstars if it’s an incomplete collection. It purely sounds wrong and trigger my ocd. They should have named it Mario 3D Collection/Bundle or similar.
This guy is giving nintendo too much credit. Nothing is a given with this company that continues to surprise us with head scratching announcements. I’m just disappointed that one of my top games of all time (Mario 64) is basically untouched. All I wanted was widescreen support and they were too lazy to even give us that
I don't even care about the other 2 games. I didn't think we would get a full blown remake treatment for SM64, but this isn't even trying. Mupen64 Plus emulator does more to improve SM64 by itself then Nintendo did.
Agreed. Plus with the source code leaked, homebrewers are running rampant on remastering the title with high end textures and models. Something Nintendo should have considered when they revisted Whomp's Fortress.
No, I agree with you. I don't give them that much credit. I'm only making an assumption, but I'm holding firm on that assumption. And yes, Super Mario 64 should have been given some upgrades, given that the source code was leaked. Detrimental to this release for sure, widescreen support would have been a welcome addition.
Oh great. Your single OPINION really calmed me down. /s
People will bitch no matter what, especially on here. It could include nearly every Mario game ever and they'd cry about Mario is Missing being excluded.
A bigger question is, will the games included in the upcoming collection be coming to the Switch again once they're pointlessly removed? Yes, I want Galaxy 2. But, once the upcoming collection is gone those games won't be available anymore either. I am certainly securing myself a copy of said collection so I'll personally have access to them, but some people are going to miss out on them.
I'd like to see Nintendo bring Twilight Princess HD to the Switch trying to find a used Wii U that works is expensive.I am all down for Mario just paid for a copy of the collection just walk into the store and walk out with it. I never played Sunshine or Galaxy.
Then you're in for a treat. Sunshine is a subtle departure from the norm with an acute deviation in gameplay mechanics and overworld structure, alot of fun.
Well said. Sunshine is an underrated gem. Can't wait for the remaster.
I forget where I read this, but this year is Mario’s 35th Anniversary and next year is Zelda/Link’s 35th. 2 years ago, they filed patents for Mario’a anniversary and just last year (almost to the day) Nintendo registered for LoZ Anniversary.. apparently Nintendo has big plans next year for that series.. here’s to hoping it’s a doozy. 😏🍻
I greatly prefer Galaxy 2 to 1 I would have been happier if they had just skipped 1 lol. Either way if it comes out stand alone or digital only. I will want to pick it up after my son and I play through all these ones. The kid is on a Mario kick and this timing could not be better.
