Damn... the gameplay looks kinda slow and kinda boring. I think im gonna pass on this and go with Street of Rage 4

Sad when such a great classic is recreated into a poor excuse for a spiritual sequel. This is not battle toads, it's a cheap knock off and Im disappointed they took such a great game and buried it in 2019. They should've just kept the same exact combat mechanics and kept the game as close to the original as possible just with amazing upgraded graphics (which isn't hard for a side scrolling Beatem Up).

Shame on you guys for making such an affront to BattleToads. Please stay away from Double Dragon.

It's like the complete opposite to River City Girls, which did everything right for a successor. This just looks so generic and lifeless

It just seems arrogant when a company takes over a classic series and tries to turn it into something it never was. There is a reason why the likes of Sonic Mania was so successful, because it doesn't try to be something it's not.

This is why I am slightly concerned with how Steets of Rage 4 is being developed right now. I like the look of it overall, but there are a lot of things the development team has changed from the originals that I am not a fan of.

I'm all for adding something new and fresh to a classic series, but they can push things too far, and that seems to be what has happened with Battletoads.

I remember when rare studio head said they will only bring back old ip if they can do something new and special. So they leave conker, perfect dark and banjo kazooie and they give us this shit. I was hoping for plenty of level variety with some really hard platforming levels but I'm very disappointed with what I've seen so far.

Used to love Battletoads, but everything about this looks awful. From the art direction, to animation, small stages, just looks slow, chugging, lifeless and cheap. Very disappointing, as I would have bought day one just to support the series.

...maybe that wasn't enough said. ;)

One of the most memorable fights I ever played. I almost didn't want to pull the trigger at the end.

I personally think there's better on gamepass then what was listed. State of decay imo is better then anything listed. Recore seemed alright for what I played on there also.

Is Recore any better to play now?

Concertoine888d ago

Yeah, especially on One X or Series X. It kinda feels like a PS2 platformer, but in a good way. I liked it.

KillBill889d ago

Odd that he specified 'Game Pass Ultimate' instead of just 'Game Pass' just so he could include a relatively weak choice comparably in 'Alice: Madness Returns' which is available with EA Play. SoD was a far better overlooked game to have listed.

Crows90889d ago (Edited 889d ago )

Dont know why they keep listing ultimate. Gamepass is the better value....but the reason I think is that ultimate includes online gwg.

MadLad888d ago

I mean, as someone who games both on PC and Xbox, Ultimate makes a whole lot of sense. There's console exclusives and PC exclusives. And, at the end of the day, EA Play is still a perk of having Ultimate. When I open Gamepass, the EA Play catalogue is sitting right there for me. It's as much part of Gamepass as any other title I'm looking at, right?

Arcade1Up Opens Preorders for Killer Instinct PRO Series Arcade Cabinet (with Battletoads)

"Arcade1Up has released numerous 3/4-scale arcade cabinets over the years, but even the coolest cabinets only feature 17-inch monitors. It will feature not just both Killer Instinct arcade games, but also the arcade, NES, and Genesis versions of Battletoads!" says Co-Optimus.
