I bought AC, red dead, cod, bf v and fallout so I didn’t play it near enough yet.

IMHO, yes absolutely.

And, whoever did some of the cut scenes had their A game on. The facial expressions they make with Kassandra at times are down right entertaining. The 'eye game' during the party as she pours wine or talks to people is really good character expression.

Yes, men better represent warriors who can jump from any height without damage, can blink from one enemy to another with an assassination strike, or make flames magically appear on their weapons. That's just the way it is.

This isn't BFV where there are claims of historical accuracy, it's a full on historical fantasy, leaning way more on the fantasy than the historical. I hope the cyclops and gorgon don't give that away.

Both voice actors are Greek, while Alexios sounds a little robotic at times i don't think he's awful by any stretch, both are good in my opinion.

The male actor is of Greek decent but really lived in Canada so he doesn't really have a Greek accent.
The female actor grew up in Greece and you can instantly tell that her accent gets that characteristic flair, tones and playful sarcasm that you see in the Greek language.
I believe that is why most people agree that she has better voice acting, it is because it gets colored by culture while the male one feels more of a generic western bit which feels out of character down there.

ps: It is extremely funny to hear people trying to do a "Greek" accent in the game and instead doing an Italian.
It is like trying to imitate a British by doing a Texan voice :P

I've listened to both during interviews and his voice during points is more Canadian but other times you can hear an more accent which explains the robotic sound at times, it's odd but i still don't mind it.

His delivery and inflections were just bad to me. It sounded like someone who isn't very intelligent trying to do an accent. I know that's not the case but just going by Alexios's audio in that game he sounds like he should be in a comedy.

I finished the game with Alexios, then tried Kassandra till after the first island. Voice type is subjective and obviously different given the different sexes :P but on delivery of the lines Alexios is better imo, especially with monologues he knows what he's talking about, knows he's making a pun etc. while Kassandra just reads through.

She does make a horrible 'bad guy' though. I will 100% agree with that.

Yeah Chris for me he was bad from jump street. As soon as he began talking I was like this can't be how he's gonna talk this entire game?!?! It didn't come off as genuine to me at all.

Apparently the Kassandras voice actress did a great job, but considering that the bulk of the people playing the game are male and the game is trying to fulfill the fantasy of being a spartan warrior, pretty sure most people don't think of a woman when they think of a spartan.

Well, most gamers are male (not counting phone games). Males relate to males, generally speaking. Shouldn't come as a surprise. I picked Kassandra, and am happy with my choice. She is just likeable, I like her light hearted, humorous approach to most interactions. She seems like she'd be a fun person to be around. I'm not too far into the game, so this might be unfair criticism (also, I'm not sure how the game handles the other character when you pick one, maybe Kassandra turns out the same way if you pick alexios?), but Alexios just seems a bit one dimensional.

I'm assuming most gamers are males so they'll pick the male character, but I would also guess that most of the people that picked Kassandra are male as well. I don't play as female characters unless that's what's the main character is.

I used to play rpgs to represent me male but in final fantasy online i met guys playing as females and said if youre gonna play hundreds of hrs do u wanna look at a muscle guy or a female from behind so long story short i use females when theres an option

While AC: Origins was packed with interesting stories, Odyssey is a generic ’Ubisoft sandbox’ in the worst sense, with hundreds of the same-looking places, dozens of ”kill-fetch” quests and almost zero motivation to grind further. Perfect review.

Don't agree. I find Odyssey to be just as engaging as Origins. There's a wide variety of things to do in both games. I think they're both fantastic.

Complete opposite for me. Story in Origins was burdened by a premise that dragged on forever and a secondary character who really made you feel like you were alone rather than working together. Let alone it also had forced gameplay elements with bosses rather than giving you more control over how you approached killing them.

Honestly a but surprised too. I pretty much always play as male when given the choice but Kassandra seemed to have a way better performance from what I saw so I picked her seemed like a number of people I saw agreed with that assessment too.

Interesting, but irrelevant. Having choice in games is a great thing regardless, and I don't generally think about what other people choose when making my choice as that's between me and...no one, really. I actually generally choose the female option if there is a gender choice as I like to take what I perceive as the road less traveled. However, I generally go with the male option if there are social sim elements, especially if there are romance options, as it just feels more natural for me if I can have a straight romance with a female character, among other things.

I haven't got this game yet, but when given the in-game choice of gender, I always go with the female. There are two reasons:
1. I play games to escape and experience different realities. A different gender is always new to me.
2. If I'm playing a game for 100 hours, I'd rather enjoy the view of the back of the character.

He is only "Surprised" because the media went on an all out bash party of Alexios(Not to mention Ubi saying Kass was cannon)...Multiple web sites tried to bash his voice actor(who wasn't even that bad) and claim Kassandra was the only way to play the game. Alexios voice actor wasn't even that bad and obviously other gamers feel the same way as he has been chosen more. I can't recall gaming sites in the past actively telling you to pick one character over the other when you have a choice like this

My fiance thinks im a weirdo for playing them ha, but theres supposdly an even number. catch yourselves on with your made up statistics. id say even that the majority that played as the woman were men.

- There are a ton of women who play games, just likely not on home consoles.
- Anecdotal references don't defy statistics, just outline your personal experience.
- The majority who played as a woman are likely male, but that doesn't alter the statistics of how much of each gender plays games, just the breadth of games available across many genres and devices.

I often play female protagonists but when it comes to a fairly historical game like this, with this much attention to melee violence, it just feels too much of a stretch. I went with Alexios too and thought his voice acting, while not as good as Kassandra's, was still likable and, essentially, in good humoured.

I was worried he'd be a bland, gruff, macho type but he was much more of a down-to-earth chancer. For me, it worked well.

Yea I really wish games would offer a historical mode where atleast the enemies genders are accurate, holding the proper weapons, etc.

In fact, now that you mention it, it also feels somewhat strange when you hack a female soldier down and hear her death cry. It just feels weird seeing as though I, like the vast majority of men, were brought up with a strict 'never hit girls' code.

As a child, you never really saw it in war movies or action films but nowadays you play some games where you're butchering women en masse with all the ensuing agony filled cries of pain. Feels a bit strange sometimes.

I played both Alexios and Kas for a fair few hours each in the start because I was a little indecisive. In the end I chose Alexios, for myself the story beats and narrative changes the choice made just seemed to fit better. Plust other story elements were more interesting but will avoid for spoiler reasons. Trying to get it finished now, game is long.

I played as Alexios but god did I regret it 20 hours in. He delivery is just too over the top for me. My wife even asked what's wrong with his voice and she watches me quite while I play most games.

I was surprised more didn't feel the same because for me it was laughably bad. When Kassandra finally popped up I was like should've went with her. I'm curious how Alexios's inflections and delivery are if you play as Kassandra.
