Well I've got XGP so I'll give it a go. The first game was great fun. Shame that the devs didn't capitalise on the potential. At the very least sort out the bugs....

RainbowBrite2560d ago (Edited 2560d ago )

Maybe the devs really try, but at the end of the day you need money, the kind of money MS has (in their secret golden vouch), but just by the look of the game (like a 360 game) you can tell they didn't have a lot. Is so easy to blame the developers: Fable (Lionhead messed up) Scalebound (Platinum made a bad game?!!! Whaaaat?!! Come on, now)
Is getting old.

Gazondaily2560d ago

You're gonna need a more solid basis to blame Microsoft instead of the devs here. That's twice these devs have made a buggy game.

But I do agree that Microsoft should have stepped in and told them to get their act together before releasing it in its current state.

Ashlen2560d ago

As publisher Microsoft is the one who decides when the game is released and has the final say on things like quality. Remember Microsoft was all too quick to pull the plug on Scalebound and Fable when they didn't think things were the way they wanted. Microsoft could have helped the developer or given them more time or stopped production.

It's a shame Undead Labs weren't given more resources. The SoD core gameplay was a refreshing experience on the 360, and we should hope that MS more heavily invests in it in the future. I'll keep the GP sub going another month to try it out, but I hope the Xbox group uses the lower scores to show MS execs that they need to invest more into these titles to compete.

MasterCornholio2560d ago

Microsoft did say that all games that they published are treated as 1st party titles. With that said they should have stepped in and helped the developers at some point.

Godmars2902560d ago

Think the money-hat argument has been invalid for some time. If ever.

Maybe once where MS were willing to prop up the division post OG Xbox mistakes and the 360's RRod, but around when the 360 "dominated" the market they've put more into advertising letting their ad guys directing things over game devs.

Jinger2560d ago

7/10 seems about right. I'm okay with that. First game was a ton of fun despite it's issues and this game seems to expand on the first but keep the jank. Too bad they didn't fix more before the review copies went out, but still looks like a ton of fun.

If you played the first and enjoyed it, there is not reason why you shouldn't pick this one up as well and enjoy it.

sizeofyou2560d ago

There is. It's shonky and it shouldn't be. I may pick it up in 6 months time if the early access feel has gone. So disappointed...had this on pre-order for months but Eurogamer cast doubt so cancelled yesterday.
At least they won't screw up FH4...hopefully...

Jinger2560d ago

Lol maybe you should branch out to more reviews than just Eurogamer. Just sayin

xenz2560d ago

Let me guess; you are still a xbox fanboy and believes this game to be better than anything Sony has to offer?

Jinger2560d ago

When did I ever say that?

Smokehouse2560d ago

This is the review I chose to read before I play tomorrow and the bad parts don’t sound that bad to me. The “it’s a bore/chore/ job” talk is from somebody expecting god of war. It’s a simulation game. It’s like building a city in sim city and then rage quitting when it gets harder to sustain. “Wow this game sucks, it’s so repetitive, it’s a chore.” That’s the point of the game...
