Skyrim Switch Edition Looks Amazing In New Handheld Videos; Possibly Confirms Visuals Improvements

Skyrim Switch Edition got multiple new videos in the handheld version which looks to be running great on the Switch. It also looks like the Switch version will be getting the visual improvements seen in the PS4/Xbox One versions going from these videos.

This game on a portable console may sell it and bring larger developers to do the same thing, Skyrim is still in the top 25 of games played daily on steam charts, so having this release on a portable could bring a lot of people to the Switch

Your point? Laptops aren't as portable as Switch, nor are they traditionally used as dedicated gaming devices.

Take it at face value: a great addition to the Switch catalog. I don't know how you feel about Switch (or Nintendo for that matter) but if you came to the comments section of a positive Switch article with the intention of criticizing it and taking some wind from the sail, I can't say that's becoming of a mature individual.

Simply correcting folks that Nvida Shield and Laptops have existed to play Skyrim for sometime. Mind you, I told folks that Persona 5 was also on PS3 and not just PS4....was that simply to make folks feel bad too?

6 year old game you can play on the go. It's funny you mention that though; Shadow of the Colossus was six years old when we got the HD version. Age doesn't really matter when it's a great game that's well loved. It also brings the series to people who traditionally only buy Nintendo.

You're asking *me* what the intent behind *your* post was? If you're trying to draw a parallel, I don't see your point; PS3 and PS4 versions of Persona 5's release were contemporaneous. You were making a case before that it's a 6 year old game.

No. Where did I even imply that? I thought I was pretty clear that having the game on Switch is a good thing regardless. And how isn't it? It's a well received game that can now be played on a mainstream portable gaming platform (with a new control scheme, if you desire). Again, how isn't that good news? A multiplatform, well loved game can now be enjoyed by even more people on the go with the same device that one can play Zelda or Metroid. So you can play with mods on a laptop. That's swell, but I wonder if you ever said anything along the lines of, "why buy Skyrim on consoles when you can get mods on a PC?"

The point was simply pointing out the fact that other versions existed. The point was simply stating the fact.

Had nothing to do with comparing the PS3 version of Persona 5 to Skyrim on Switch, simply folks getting emotionally upset about someone bringing up facts.

For a fact a laptop is portable and Skyrim can be played on it.

The updated version of this game just released last year, and sold well. The VR version has yet to release. There is still interest in the game.

I got the Special Edition for free on PC, but Im not playing it because I would rather replay Skyrim on the Switch.

Well you can say the same thing for Mario 64 on DS or Metal Gear Solid 1 on PSP....

Its not that new or big of a deal to play a last gen game on a portable.

Thats quite normal. Trust me, this game has moved over 20 million units, I don't see anyone going nuts over this version. They could already play this on the go with laptop or the Nvida Shield.

Mind you, how many do you think will care when Elder Scrolls VI is announced?

You may want to rethink what you're comparing this to lol, Mario 64 is several gens behind the ds as is metal gear 1 and the psp, laptops don't have the portability of a handheld and the Nvidia shield could only play through streaming which means you're limited to playing around wifi, so far no handheld has shown to be able to play stuff like this.

Skyrim on Switch doesn't state Special Edition, and its clearly omitted anything about enhancements.

Do you have any real evidence that this is the remastered version? I mean...why would they NOT say Special Edition if it was indeed that?

They have no reason to make their game sell less units by lying, they don't want to be dragged to court for lying about a game bud, this is very much not the PS4 and XONE version, its very, very likely a last gen port.

As to why they worded it that way on the description on the official Nintendo Website.
