Honestly i was expecting a score around 8/10 bc honestly drake's charisma also sets the uncharted series up there, imo its hard to surpass a lovable character as this one.

Genuine-User2238d ago

Your expectations have been exceeded by the 50+ reviews that have scored the game between 8-10.

Well unless IGN is the only outlet that counts for you.

Sam Fisher2238d ago

No you are correct, but it just seems weird seeing an uncharted game getting a 7/10 from anywhere

Lonnie182238d ago

I wonder if this would have got a higher score if it was a guy main character? Is IGN bias huh?

frostypants2237d ago (Edited 2237d ago )

@Lonnie18, it's not the gender, it's just that these characters are less interesting. Imagine if they did a Tomb Raider game featuring...hell, I dunno...some dude named Clyde. It might still be fun but the story would miss the protagonist that made it famous. Or, a REAL example: look at "The Bourne Legacy"...easily the worst Bourne film, because no Matt Damon.

IamTylerDurden12237d ago

Yea the Lost Legacy overall is getting great reviews. 85 Metacritic, higher than Gears 4.

rainslacker2237d ago

I always thought Chloe was a pretty likable character.

Skull5212237d ago (Edited 2237d ago )

Someone just finally gave an honest score to a naughty dog game and didn't inflate the score based on fanboyism. All their stuff is good but not great.

The Problem with this review is that they treat it like it's a NEW GAME when it's just an expansion, like seriously how can you complain about an Expansion being like the game its expanded from -__-

Babadook72237d ago (Edited 2237d ago )

"A 86 on metacritic so far"

Yah. I saw that too. Guess IGN is pretty hard up for clicks these days.

Ceaser98573612237d ago (Edited 2237d ago )

ya Septic ... Uncharted fans will like Lost Legacy and its doing well so far... Hope xbox games does well too so that i could say the same and congratulate :)

and too all the xbox fan boys here... may be we playstation fans are use to seeing scores above 85 or so... Something Xbox games haven't seen for quite sometime now... So i understand why some Playstation fans aint okay with below 8 score...

The review is barely a page long - Marty Sliva has been down on Uncharted since the 4th entry.

Jinger2238d ago

I wasn't the biggest fan of UC4 either so if this follows the same path I'll skip it.

rivaldoo7772237d ago (Edited 2237d ago )

Is marty that ugly guy at beyond? Damn what a ugly taste

theshredded2238d ago (Edited 2238d ago )

It's time Naughty Dog completely abandons Uncharted imo. The gameplay's been the exact same since the first Uncharted and sure it's smoother in each installment but gamers are starting to get fed up with it and the lower scores here prove it. You can't make action/adventure games with the same gameplay for around 10 years unless it's a franchise that's based on pure gameplay like Mario or Gran Turismo or the differences and universe are big enough like MGS. What about adding some creative weapons not just stupid guns, adding mythical enemies, having locals for a big part of the game and not a few minutes, better stealth and well an intelligent protagonist who's not Rambo and cocky...

Gamble202238d ago

It sounds like you’ve never been a fan of the Uncharted franchise with some of your points. There is an obvious difference between Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 4 in the gameplay. They fleshed it out a lot more and did open up levels for a little bit more exploration within the linear format. What does “pure gameplay” even mean? Someone could argue Gran Turismo is the exact same game every year, but it’s not. It just is iterative and adds to it with each entry. Same with Uncharted. However, I do agree that Naughty Dog should pursue other franchises at this point. Which they are already doing with TLOU 2 and closing the book of Nathan Drake.

UCForce2238d ago

This is an expansion. After this, they will focus on TLOU Part 2.

IamTylerDurden12237d ago

They already are working on TLoU 2.

Its time ND abandon Uncharted after just releasing their probable last Uncharted game? No shit.

theshredded2238d ago (Edited 2238d ago )

Oh wow I feel stupid, well kudos to Naughty Dog for understanding when enough is enough also Fromsoftware comes to mind. And I'm not saying Uncharted 4 is bad, to me it's easily the best and a pretty good game but the formula got tiring well atleast for me.

TankCrossing2238d ago (Edited 2238d ago )

Sales of Uncharted 4 suggest at least a few people still enjoy the series...

Mister_Wolf2238d ago

I have still invested more time in Uncharted than say Gears if War, if there an argument for the same formula and the same shite over and over then Gears of War is that franchise. Literally no characters in that game stand and the storyline is gobshite.

IamTylerDurden12237d ago

Ridiculous comment, Lost Legacy has been sitting at 85 and 86 on Metacritic out of 50+ reviews. It's rated higher than Gears 4 which also "is basically the same gameplay wise with every installment. Tbh each subsequent Uncharted game has added and refined things anyway. Look at Uncharted 4 and Uncharted 1, Uncharted 4 has large open levels and utilizes a grappling hook, driving, and more stealth options. The tone of the game has also changed and is much more serious and impactful. Honestly, expansions/DLC rarely review as high as the main game whether it's Nioh, Borderlands, The Last of Us, Dishonored ect. To be mid to high 80's Metacritic is actually quite good, especially considering this wasn't directly worked on by Neil and Bruce.

babadivad2237d ago (Edited 2237d ago )

I agree about ND moving on from Uncharted. Enough is enough at this point. I honestly believe that Sony kind of pressed them into making another one. I do believe I remember hearing them say they felt the series had concluded after Uncharted 3[Drake's story at least].

That being said, to say the games haven't evolved since Uncharted 1 is just ludicrous. I know i'm in the minority here but I didn't think the original Uncharted was a particularly good game. I mean, it was OK, but not stellar. Uncharted to was a vast improvement over the original in pretty much every way a game can improve. Just the jump in quality from Uncharted 1 to 2 completely invalidates your argument.

I'm interested in seeing what ND comes up with next[other than TLoU2]. They always seem to have their pulse on what gamer need.

P.S.

As much as I loved The Last of Us[Easily in my top 5 games of all time], I think they should've concluded the story with DLC of the first game. Or at least concluded the story of Joel and Ellie. The Last of Us 2 should have been an in universe story with different protagonist. There's so much meat in the world they've created, it seems kind of a waste to have the gamers only experience it through the eyes [or perspective] of Joel and Ellie.

Those are my thoughts at least. Hell, this maybe the way they are going since so little is known of the game at this point.

rainslacker2237d ago

Game play in the UC series has been one thing that has consistently improved over the course of the series. Each game added something new, and improved on what was already there.

Being the same elsewhere would be expected for a franchised series unless it was some spin off.
