Fils-Aime Talks Nintendo First Party Support: 'We Will Deliver' In 2018 & 2019

Nintendo first party games are among the top in gaming. Titles like Zelda, Smash and Kart are coming, just to name a few, but many more are apparently on their way in 2018 and beyond.

Did this really have to be clarified?

freshslicepizza2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

yes, because the wii u dried up with support. now nintendo has the luxury of selling wii u games all over again dressed up a bit for switch on top of new games. you can also tell they are being very reserved in the amount of games on launch day and will spread titles out much better.

i think they have a much better gameplan and will be able to build momentum more than they did on the wii u.

mikeslemonade2679d ago

First party content hasn't been up to par since the GameCube. Only you apologists think Wii and WiiU had that many good titles.

jaymacx2679d ago

@moldybread Good insight You are right about the games drying up on wii U. The good thing about these "ports" is content is being added in the case of MK8. Lego City undercover doesn't though but many have never played it (it deserves an extended life). I am glad that we got a new ip close to launch in ARMS.

Seraphim2679d ago

yep, just like they've had to in the past. Yet words mean very little when in fact they do not deliver as they say.

conanlifts2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

Yes. Many nintendo fans like myself are annoyed after their wii u first party fiasco. They promised and constantly failed to deliver. Many gamers like myself, while buying switch, do not trust nintendo. If they fail us again with poor decisions and misleading information they will lose many life long customers. I personally have playing Nintendo games since they released the NES.
There are also many other Nintendo fans who after the wii u are not buying switch until nintendo actually do prove themselves. Another failure will be difficult to come back from.

Retroman2679d ago

Dude , i have Not bought Nentindo console since Snes . they need more than Zelda,Mario ,Splatoon, mario kart 8,Pikman get my money. Run an Gun,Beat em up's Shoot em up's would burn a hole in my wallet .

DarXyde2679d ago

GT67,

Does that mean you've never played Contra Rebirth on Wii?

Because you totally should.

PhoenixUp2679d ago

I'm saying it would be obvious that Nintendo would've shifted most of their major focus to NS, so I don't see a big point in clarifying the obvious

Lonnie182679d ago

Yep Mario not till 2018, I'm calling it now!

eagle212679d ago

The game is virtually finished already. It's coming this year.

conanlifts2679d ago

This was my concern, but it has been reported that the game is pretty much finished. After the wii u they cant afford for this game to be delayed.

Nu2679d ago

Reggie's body wasn't ready?

jaymacx2679d ago

Exactly... im happy overall with this year in gaming... couldn't ask for more.

They don't owe you a thing. But if they want to sell consoles they gotta start delivering good games like a new next-gen metroid as you said. A full fledged pokemon console game and my everlasting dream of a follow up to Donkey Kong 64 would be really nice.

Omnislashver362679d ago

They don't owe you a thing? You mean they just get money for no games then. Makes sense.

Allsystemgamer2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

If I buy their system, they owe me exclusive games.

hirobrotagonist2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

They owe me for abandoning the Wii U as well. If they had canceled Breath of the Wild for Wii U or significantly delayed it - I wouldn't ever buy another Nintendo product. They also have a lot to answer for with their greedy and lackluster proposed online service for the Switch. Don't get me wrong; I'm really hoping the Switch succeeds and I even really enjoy the Wii U as a system, but Nintendo owes a lot of their fans a lot of things. Mostly they owe us more clear answers and communication. Nintendo doesn't realize due to their own arrogance, that they owe us some gestures of goodwill. Coming out swinging with open greed in 2017 with severely under-powered hardware isn't helping their case. I really hope there's some sort of backward compatible trade-in program for older games. I'm not buying not going to buy a switch just to get 2-3 decent exclusives and have it sit in my livingroom causing me buyer's remorse. Nintendo needs to cough up some quality games.

They need to make a quality Metroid title and a full fledged 3d Pokemon RPG. Those two things would be a great start.

"Allsystemgamer9m ago(Edited 9m ago)
If I buy their system, they owe me exclusive games."

Nail on the head. There is no other reason to buy a switch unless you really want to play third party games on the go. I didn't buy a Switch to get nickle and dimed into rebuying a bunch of virtual console games etc.. in order to play them on a system that is much more powerful. I have a retroraspberry pie in my bedroom I already built for that purpose. Otherwise, it's a much better idea to go with a different console or a PC. I'm looking forward to the next couple of years of gaming, but this is Nintendo's last chance in my eyes. If analysts or market trends are correct, it's their last chance. Period. Otherwise people are going to start calling it, "the Nintendo bait-and-Switch".

Mykky2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

I phrased myself really poorly as I mostly agree with you all. They owe you to deliver on their promises indeed when you buy their product.

It seems my perception of the term "owe" is different from yours.
What I meant though is more like this: A company's goal is to earn money and they are required to make something their costumers want in order to do so. But they don't owe their costumers anything as if the costumers are entitled to good products by any kind of law. If someone does not deliver on games it is their fault and will likely end up in a loss for their company. But they don't really owe you anything more than what they promise to deliver.

@OmnislashVer36
The scenario is hypothetical but if people buy a console with no games and no promise of them it's the customers fault. But the company doesn't really owe them anything, even though they should make games because it is the right thing to do. It's not like movie makers has to make HD DVD copies because they owe it to the people who bought a HD DVD player.

Erik73572679d ago

Well , I never had a Wiiu like most gamers so I think Mario kart and Msash will count as new exclusives because we never played them...

jaymacx2679d ago

Yep they owe us that.. my most anticipated franchise of Nintendo.. metroid is my overall favorite ip .That federation game was a mean tease.

Cy2679d ago

Then that's when I'll be getting a Switch, thanks for saving me some money this year, Reggie!

pcz2679d ago

yeh '' 'We Will Deliver' In 2018 & 2019''

too bloody late.

should deliver immediately

Sciurus_vulgaris2679d ago

Reggie looks like a gangster, corrupt business men or serial killer in the thumbnail........

On topic: Nintendo first party is nearly always strong, an exception would be the latter years of the Wii U life cycle.

blackblades2679d ago

I remember that video of Reggie it was awesome.

gangsta_red2679d ago

One of the best show cases ever.

I wish MS and Sony would do something similar instead of live on stage presentations that are most of the time cringe worthy.

That's hilarious because he did and said the same thing with 2K Marin who developed Bioshock 2

They've been closed since 2013 but not officially acknowledged

He just doesn't want the backlash so pretends there's no issue.
