Im guessing either shortly before E3 or at E3 they will reveal all the details of the device.

freshslicepizza2700d ago

likely e3 and if they don't announce a date then i expect it to be delayed into 2018. what i also want to see is more commitment for new games and not just scorpio taking the bulk of the presentation. they should also get crackdown and scalebound out BEFORE scorpio and show they are not holding games back for it

dolby atmos, 4k, those things will also be a lot more prominant by then too.

Kingthrash3602700d ago

I'll take that bet...
I mean I doubt it too, but it's very possible.

@moldy
They will be launch scorpio games for sure. Neither of them have dates crackdown has been absent for a year and it's demo was delayed.... hell I expect forza to launch with it too.
MS needs to show more games asap. The larger the gap in user base the harder it will be to get 3rd party support. 3rd party support is critical for xbox seeing they are burning out their 1st party ips.
I think MS has made a huge mistake though. Games will be built for the ps4 as a base and then converted to the xbox systems. Problem is with ms you gotta make 3 games xbo, scorpio, pc (windows store)..all 3 combined have a much smaller userbase than the ps4...this in itself will turn 3rd party executives off just for cost alone. If they had the user base this wouldn't be a problem. ...but they dont. PC gamers dislike windows store, xbo has been destroyed by double...and tge scorpio will be a new console with zero...I wonder why people arnt thinkin about this.

Notwithrocksteady2700d ago

@kingthrash. Windows 10 makes it so the developers only have to make one code and the game scales to different devices. Very little work to be done. PC does not have a smaller user base then PS4. Third-party support is going to be with Microsoft and Sony no matter what. The big three EA Activision and Ubisoft will always support Microsoft, what third-party support are you talking about just for clarification ?

343_Guilty_Spark2700d ago

It's already ahead of schedule.

GtR35olution2700d ago

Where are the exclusive games microsoft? The pickings are micro-soft because they dont exist. All xbox games are going to be on pc. Cant wait to hear about the excuses about more people get to play but the games wont be on ps4 that has more than double the install base

no offence but you have shown once again to have no clue what you are talking about. games like battlefield 1 are developed on a pc first. they are already made to support 4k and so on. this is how games should be scaled, from the top down. plus it is very doubtful microsoft will take the same approach sony did with the ps4 pro and lock the system to force games to run exactly as they do on the regular ps4. that means over 1,200 games on the ps4 will have no benefit at all including games like bloodborne. the xbox one s already shows the experience microsoft has in the creating hardware that matches the pc. games already get a little extra boost on the xbox one s compared to the regular xbox one and i expect scorpio will too.

scorpio is also going to offe a better cpu that wont bottleneck the system like the ps4 pro does and it will have more ram. this will be a true upgrade over the xbox one and much like the pc games will be scaled to support older hardware, meaning the xbox one and s models. the approach sony took was much more conservative which means pro owners and psvr owners are at the mercy of sony's restrictions including no advatantage in online multiplayer. the ps4 cannot have a game run at 30fps and 60fps on the ps4 pro when it comes to online multiplayer. we shall see what restrictions microsoft has but we all know it will support vr and wont be handicapped by the xbox one. that means when they make a racing game it wont have serious concessions with less cars and less graphical details like driveclub.

plus microsoft is forward thinking, you can carry your games over because they dont want to have this abrupt generation like before where gamers need to start all over with the library, much like the wonderful world of pc gaming.

Details at E3 and one store shelves October 2017 in U.S.A. That's my prediction.

Errorist762700d ago

@BigPappy

On store shelves in October and still no games to play?!

Nowadays, games are built to a game engine first, then optimized to different API's or hardware architecture. So, please stop acting like you are familiar with game development to chastise others for their lack of knowledge.

The idea of lead platform is something that applies to the game engine, not the game itself since you have to start the game engine in a certain mode before the build which is usually PC. But it has very little to do with the final output. Particularly today where all the architectures are the same. After the base code is done, the API specific optimization happens, then the hardware level optimization which rounds everything out.

The new paradigm with multiple levels of hardware means extra build time, and starting a game out on PC does not necessarily mean that it's suddenly easier to port or will be automatically optimized for Xbox because....magic I guess. It just doesn't happen like that.

Just for the record though, when devs talk about lead platform, that is purely a console paradigm. It has nothing to do with PC. This is because certain levels of code require more care over the generalized PC API's which are very broad and aren't written with less abstraction, so the devs focus on a single platform then adapt. In general, it's still much easier to start with OGL, then port to DX. Same reason that devs started using the PS3 as the lead platform later into last gen, is the same reason that PS4 will be the lead platform this gen....along with the fact that PS4 has a significant sales lead.

But with the PC builds, it does mean that less time can be taken on the Xbox version. That could be good or bad depending on the dev and how much they care about optimization, because there is no way to directly port a PC game, and it run great on a console. It actually ports better starting on the console, then muscling through the shortcomings of the console with more powerful PC hardware.

Hope that helps you learn something you'll ignore in the future to try and sound smart as you're want to do.

Do you really believe that? No offense, but I think you two just put up for some disappointment. Do you honestly believe that a new GTA or Cyberpunk 2077 will be on PS4Pro instead of Scorpio? PS2 is one of the best-selling consoles of all time but this fact has not prevented the devs from choosing the more powerful Xbox as the main console for their third-party games. ;)

I guess small snipets will be given out through out the new year with E3 being the final reveal. So yeah agree.

Attention guys it's Gamingbolt again!

vega2752700d ago

Attention: no one care if it is except sonyfanboys that hate anything negative being said about their GOD console

Errorist762700d ago

It's their general style of reporting fake news and click bait headlines we're all tired of. Granted this doesn't fall into this category. I still refuse to support this site.

vega2752700d ago

@ Errorist76

"It's their general style of reporting fake news and click bait headlines we're all tired of"

The same can be said for many of the countless articles being submitted on this site. Yet only when it comes to negative news about sony or ps4 does everyone want the world to know the article is clickbait.

DeadlyOreo2700d ago

@vega

You clearly have been living under a rock the last couple of months. It's not just "Sony fanboys", stop trying to create some sort of stupid conflict 😂

freshslicepizza2700d ago

ignoring a topic because you have issues with gamingbolt is too hard for you? i guess you have nothing to say about scorpio so now its about gamingbolt? they are just quoting what the guy said, nothing wrong with that.

Errorist762700d ago

No, I just have a problem with their usual click bait agenda. Granted it seems they have improved lately...mainly due to us complaining I am let to believe.

TBH I haven't even read it as I refuse to give them clicks out of principle. Let's see if they really improve their petty journalism.

Kiwi662700d ago (Edited 2699d ago )

What is wrong with them reporting this for those who are actually interested in something that they want to hear about .... edit if you don't like GB then don't click on the articles as no one is holding a gun to your head

BizarroUltraman2700d ago

Xbox not paying for 3rd party app to have that feature right , cause sounds stupid if you are .

DillyDilly2700d ago

If & when Sony does it I expect you to say the same thing about Sony

XXanderXX2699d ago

Won't ever say anything regarding them , not concerned with that platform .
Just don't think MS should have to pay for 3rd app to have a feature they should have on their own , no senses in paying to make a 3rd party app better and reap nothing in return .

Artemidorus2700d ago

Got to be an E3 showing surely?

DiRtY2700d ago

Red Dead Redemption 2 in 4k on Project Scorpio. Nuff said.

BizarroUltraman2700d ago (Edited 2699d ago )

Def Day one on Xbox Scorpio as will be any game that utilizes it's power. I'm gonna ride out with my PS4 Pro til the Scorpio. Then I'll have my great 4K console setup!! God willing!

@Oreo,

What's so stealth troll about it.
Like I said I have the PS4 Pro and when I get the Scorpio I will have an all 4K consoles setup. What's so misleading about that or Lmao...mad I'm gonna buy Red Dead on Xbox.

DeadlyOreo2699d ago

Lmao. Stealth fanboy.

Microsoft really should be investing in new games rather than hardware as that is the real issue.

andrewsquall2698d ago

So I guess for some people, resolution and that alone IS the most important thing this gen.

DeadlyOreo2700d ago

Red Dead Redemption 2 will look good in 4k on my PS4 Pro too.

BizarroUltraman2699d ago

Yeah checkerboard upscale 4K. I can already see it. PS4 Pro holding back the true power of Scorpio due to parity. Lol....jk but I like riling you fannies up.
