I like how Eurogamer doesn't have a numbered score. They just explain whether it's a good game or not. And the highs and lows are subjective.
Like everyone had different tastes. So a great game for me (9/10) might be a (7/10) for someone.
Reviews basically let us know whether a game is worth investing time and money. Like if it's broken, buggy, unplayable. What kind of game, mechanics and genres. Low points and high points.
So euro gamer establishes it is a good game. Now I'm gonna play it and establish of its a great game for me.

It seems like a nice interactive story, but it doesn't seem like my type of game. But that's just me.

I hope everyone who looked forward to the game, gets and enjoy it. I also hope it is a retail success, as the developers deserve that for their efforts.

As expected. Those who get it and appreciate the deepness and dedication will admire it. Those who nitpick at flaws and fail to grasp the meaning of the game will rate it low. It happens to the best movies as well...the really brilliant shit can't be appreciated by some.

I'm not trying to downplay the game, I have zero interest in it, and I'm only commenting on this because Xbox was tagged originally, but sometimes some people think something is super deep when it's not. It's just shit. An example I'll use is Snowpiercer. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. I watched it because I saw it getting praise for how amazing and deep it was. It was just awful. When I said as much, I was told I just didn't "get" its meaning. No, I got it, it literally beats you over the head with it. It's just awful.

On that note though, I hope everyone who buys the game enjoys it. I don't want it to be terrible just because it's not on my platform of choice, it's just not my style of game

Actually it has zero negative reviews. Only positive and mixed on metacritic.com even that ratio is 4 to 1. Overall very positive in my view. Probably one for the DuderBros to skip though

I don't get it. I'm absolutely shocked that this game is getting anything higher than 7's.

The main theme of the game seems to me that you have to repeatedly fight with your critter to get it to do what you want it to do. But what I (and some of the reviews) would see as a broken annoyance of a main game mechanic, others are somehow applauding it.

I loved ICO. I really loved Shadow of the Colossus. I was naturally super interested in this game, until back at E3 when they showed gameplay of it, and the entire thing was just the kid calling his critter over and over and over until they eventually made a couple jumps across the room. They lost me on that demo.

Now I'm seeing reviews that are basically saying it is a great game BECAUSE it is broken and frustrating and that makes the critter seem more real, and I truly don't understand how that would be "fun" in any way.

Right now I'm playing Skyrim again and if I can't get my follower to move where I want them to, believe me, that doesn't make me build a connection with them or add anything to the experience. It's infuriating. lol .

I know, and I get that. But that sounds like something totally not fun to me.

I think that falls into the category of things that just because you CAN make them realistic, it doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Maybe it wouldn't make sense for it to respond instantly to your every request, but I would play the game if it did. I don't want to play the game as it stands now. Arstechnica reviewed the game and claimed that nearly 1/3 of their playtime was struggling to get the damn animal to do what it was supposed to.

That sounds like an exercise in frustration, and not something I would want to play for fun.

I'm sure a lot of people will like the game, don't get me wrong, I'm just surprised it is getting any high scores at all. Other games can have a couple escort missions with a crappy AI partner and they get dinged for it, this is the whole game and it's getting a pass, I don't get it.

Another master piece exclusive to PS4. The first 2 games were master pieces, I could not specter less.

Not everyone can appreciate these games. They have an artistic and emotional nature like no other. Don't expect reviewers who dont have these connections to give a good score and nevertheless, you will see how this one becomes another gem.

i don't look to reviews for a grade of excellence. I pronounce my own judgment or critical opinion on games.I look rather to observe if reviewers are telling the truth. Relatively not many do. Eurogamer being one of the few that still do. Which is for me a delight to see.
