Such a punishing yet amazing game.

himdeel3199d ago

Depending on your level and new game, he can be a cakewalk. If you meet him in new game and aren't over leveled he's formidable but not unbeatable.

Paulhammer3199d ago

I've heard the boys difficulty is all over the place in this DLC, but always glad to have a little help!

GrapesOfRaf3199d ago

Gonna pick up and play the DLC over the holidays. Sounds like Ludwig is actually a tough fight.

bouzebbal3199d ago

i beated him on my first try at PGW with a weapon i never used before. I also havent played the game since June. He is by far the easiest boss in the main game.

deadpoolio3163199d ago

Laurence and Orphan of Kos were definitely alot harder than Ludwig....I have no clue why people are making it sound as if Ludwig is impossible to beat, his patterns are actually pretty easy to pick up on...

Atleast Ludwig doesn't have an AOE attack that hits full screen no matter where your at unlike that damn lightning attack of the Orphan.

ShadowKnight3199d ago

The only game that made me throw my controller and it felt good after I beat the Boss

LostDjinn3199d ago (Edited 3199d ago )

Only tip you need?
Equip a certain rune given to you by a certain metal bucket wearing hunter so you can beat up two birds and call him to help you. It's still a tough fight but massively easier than a solo attempt.

How's that? Spoiler free enough?

Edit: Had to add an "e".

deadpoolio3163199d ago

OR learn his patterns and do it yourself....It was alot more satisfying to beat him all on my own, just by learning his patterns....

This boss was nothing compared to Laurence or the Orphan of Kos their patterns or lack of are alot more sporadic

LostDjinn3199d ago

I did beat him myself. He always kills the npc you summon. On NG+ that damned charge that one shots you is a bitch. On vanilla I agree that he's a cake walk. At level 247, getting one shoted by a boss is pretty cheap.

As for Laurance, Orphan and Maria (especially Maria). I didn't find them that tough. At the moment I'm just going through HN looking for weapons. Then it's off to hand the old guy his butt again...after I munch some cord. You know, just for the ending you get.

10 Expansions That Are Better Than The Main Game

NoobFeed Editor Joshua Burt writes - It is now a mainstay of gaming that post a title's release, and DLC will accompany the game. Some of the most popular games of the last fifteen years have followed this practice. But there are some DLCs that are better than others. That stands on the shoulders of their base game, and in some cases… Surpass it. These are the 10 expansions that were better than the main game.

Damn, I feel stupid when years ago I played all the dlc for fallout 3 except the pitt. My younger ass looked at it and thought it was boring without trying I believe... Well good reason to fire up the old dusty ps3!

PhillyDillyDee825d ago

Bethesda usually does great DLC. Makes sense they are on the list 3 times.

Solid list, I'd add inFamous: Festival of Blood, although it was a standalone download, it still felt like an inFamous 2 expansion.

Blood and Wine might be the best ever though.

SullysCigar825d ago

I'd also add in Horizon The Frozen Wilds. As I started it, I wasn't sure I had the energy, but my God that was awesome. Some of the best weapons, enemies and missions in Horizon for sure.

Blood and Wine is always the reason these "best DLC of all time" list gets made in the first place nowadays.
Don't think CDPR can come any where near with any upcoming CP2077 DLC.

Silly Mammo825d ago

I have beaten Bloodborne but though i have the DLC I never played through it. For now I want to wait and see if it gets a Bluepoint remake.

anast825d ago

It's the best DLC in the genre. You are missing out.

SarwarRon825d ago

I double that. If you've liked Bloodborne, don't miss out The Old Hunters.

I skipped on Demons Souls remake, but Bloodborne would be day one. I love the game, but it is very, very jaggy and really needs a 60fps edition.

anast825d ago

I didn't like Blood and Wine too much, but the grandmaster gear is worth it.

Praise The Fun — Why The ‘Soulslike’ Sub-Genre Was The Last Great Gameplay Revolution

DBC: “As soon as I had tasted FromSoftware’s new risk-and-reward formula, there was no going back. Its bleak beauty, its goading challenge, and its eerie otherworldliness coursed through my veins like a brand-new, intoxicating Estus-like tincture. From that point on, I was hooked on its electrifyingly addictive gameplay loop and back-to-basics game design. For me, and for many other folks out there, the Souls franchise was nothing short of a revolution.”

Really great write up! Dark Souls is absolutely one of the most influential games ever made.

Venoxn4g1713d ago

For me it's VR if that counts
