'Star Wars: Battlefront' Should Cost $20

Forbes: I can’t recommend anyone but diehard Star Wars fans should buy Star Wars: Battlefront at $60. But I’d easily recommend it at $20.

In all honesty, people would be better off waiting about 6 months until they release the premium edition. I bought BF4 this year for ~$25 on the PS+ sale where it came with all the DLC and it's a ton of content with regular patches.

Yes, so they made it clear they are doing DLC but everything is being made AFTER the game released unlike Call of Duty which has content cut from it to release in a map pack later on....I don't see you complaining about that. They delivered quality, but locked the quantity behind a 50$ paywall. And of course they're making it after the game's release. After all, they released an unfinished game.

Hell, a 20$ season pass would have at least been acceptable for many. But 50$?

You can't even compare CoD to this, it has 2 campaigns, the dead ops campaign, a full multiplayer experience (like SW:BF), as well as a huge zombies experience (could be compared to the side missions in SW:BF).

I've played the game, and I won't play it anymore. It's not even half a game. An "okay" campaign wouldn't have saved this game. It feels hallow and shallow. But they though that because there were a few buzz pieces (ie. darth vader, han solo) that people were going to overlook that and still buy the game. Well I know I've learned my lesson. I won't be buying any new games at launch. Like this one I have a friend who buys everything (preordered) so I just go to his house and try them out. I did play the beta but gave it the benefit of being a "beta". This game is so bad in my opinion we shouldn't even be talking about it anymore.

All battlefield games before bad company had no single player and i loved them all and played the crap out of them. Unreal tournament and quake didnt have single player and i loved the crap out of them as well. So if the multiplayer is great you dont need single player. But the premium memberships and season passes are stupid by EA. Thats why i bought all my battlefield premium memberships in another country so it only cost me 16 dollars at launch with the exchange rates at the time lol.

It's incredibly fun and addicting especially if you enjoy the Star Wars universe. I'm not saying I like the way EA did the transactions but for gods sake the game they made is phenomenal!

They did an excellent job creating a faithful Star Wars experience.. the problem is, that's the only really great thing about the game. If you take away the Star Wars setting, you're left with a fairly average bland FPS game and this is from DICE, a developer most of us have extremely high expectations from.

You could say that about almost any franchise though. If another developer made a game like COD no one would care because we already have COD. Star Wars has went a long time without a proper videogame and the gameplay is faithful to the Star Wars universe. Once the nostalgia/excitement wears off sure every game seems bland or boring, but right now for me nothing compares. Skimming the surface of an AT-AT,rolling to the left, and shooting down a tie interceptor while being chased by X-wings is pure fan fulfillment. Maybe I'm a little biased(I named my first son Luke from Star Wars) but the last time I experienced MP this good was a long time ago.....In a galaxy far far away....? ;)

But, you nailed the issue. Value, at least how it is commonly used, is extremely subjective. If people have fun, they are willing to pay MORE for that fun. See any FTP game for that. Fun is also subjective. I've seen many people say that they would have happily paid more for Rocket League. Had they released it at $60 would it have caught on? I highly doubt it.

Jokes aside, a games value is not made up of by how much you get on the disc but what you get out of the game. A game like Fallout 4 is a huge game but for someone like me who is not a fan it's not worth $60 because I won't get anything out of it.
If your a Star Wars fan and love shooting things then $60 is a good value as you will enjoy it, if your someone who thinks every game should have 20 game modes, a crap load of extras all for $60 then you will never be happy and this is probably not for you.

At the end of the day, EA and Dice were aiming for the Star Wars fan and to be honest, they will probably reach a large majority of them.

If people are not sure, just rent it and test it out yourself to see if it is a $20 game or not.
It is available for $3 ar your local Redbox rental service.

For me, it is a $30 at best with how little content there is. Add in that EA have the audacity to sell a launch day $50 DLC that has more maps than the stand alone $60 game makes matter worst.

Battlefront makes me glad I have a good reliable rental service. I'm going to have a blast with it until Rainbow Six comes out but by then, I imagine I'll be bored and doubt I'll ever play it again. It's disappointing really from DICE, I've bought every single one of their games since Battlefield 1942 and have usually found their new games have always motivated me to upgrade my PC.

So, what you are basically saying, is that YOU like it better. Right? Well, there's the issue. You placed a higher value on the product (TitanFall) than you do on Battlefront. However, others are the opposite. THIS is why the current "value vs. content" argument just doesn't hold. Price isn't determined by value. It's determined by the market (supply and demand). Content doesn't always add value...because not everybody values the same content. There are tons of CoD players that would gladly pay less for the game if it were just the multiplayer. For them, $60 might be too much because they don't plan to touch the campaign or zombies at all. But, they buy the package for the MP.

Battlefront was my most anticipated game this year. Battlefront 1&2 were some of the best times of my youth.

I also loved The Battlefield games since 2.

How burnt was I to find a game I was so excited for be so shallow? At least in titanfall they had weapons that felt unique. At least they had a variety of maps. At least spawns weren't so messed up 5 people spawn in front of you at once.

The sheer cheek of expensive DLC to complete the game is disgusting.

I have no problem with the volume of content in this game. It has 9 PvP modes, 2 co-op modes, and 15 maps after the 2 free ones drop. But I have a problem with the actual content. The game modes feel rushed and there is very little depth. It's like Mario Kart with random powerups lying around. Not a bad game though. It would probably have been more successful if they got rid of 3 or so terrible modes and then really focused and improved the remaining 8, and then reduced the price to $50 and the season pass to $40.

Interesting opinion. The game is definitely fun! There is alot more coming down he line, and I think that it's better to think of this as a $110 game that is releasing in stages. I jut hope that the stuff that comes out later is epic because otherwise we all just willingly got robbed! However, so far I've been having a ton of fun with what DID come in the game, and in the end that's what I was looking for when I bought it in the first place!

Do you realize how much money EA makes out of this game? The worst estimates are around 200 Million Dollars profit. It would really have not hurt them to throw 2-3 more maps into the game and maybe a small campaign.
