Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII To Release Around December For PC

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII was supposed to release on PC for sometime in fall 2015, but producer Yoshinori Kitase announced on Twitter that the game will release a little later than they had expected.

Here’s what the producer had to share:
“Producer Kitase speaking. This is a development status report on the Windows PC version of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. We are currently finishing up the last parts, so it’ll be just a little longer until it is complete. At this rate, it looks like it’ll release sometime in December. We apologize for making you wait longer, as we previously said that it will release sometime in fall. We’ll have an announcement once more details are available.”

This is the only one out of the 3 that I like.

Kalebninja3537d ago

I preferred the and game more. I didn't like LR's ending.

UNKLE3537d ago

gameplay was good, ending was horrible, still FFXIII-1 was the best.

fsdgf3537d ago

About time, LR and Type-0 were the only good things to come out of Fabula Nova Crystallis

Hasswell-NeverCold3537d ago

Well that was a thing I didn't expect to read today. Finally they said something and I'm still interested in it.
Long (and quite baffling) wait is about to end. =)

As the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga nears its end, OG FF7 director is glad "we didn't mess it up"

In the latest issue of Edge Magazine (issue 405), the developers of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth look back on the making of Final Fantasy 7's shift into an open-world RPG while offering some thoughts on how they managed to make two massive RPGs about remaking the classic game.

Looking back on Rebirth, lead producer Yoshinori Kitase (who was also the director of the original FF7) spoke about the impact the 1997 game has had, even adding that "so many of the original game's fans now work in the industry." One of the things the developers credit for keeping the Remake saga on track is a special creative committee within Square Enix that guides the story and experience.

I wouldn’t say they messed anything up, it’s good and well made but, I still prefer the original.

I’d have taken a more direct, less ambitious remake than some sort of sequel which deals with trying to change events and the whispers of fate bulls**t over 3 games.

I even felt Rebirth really screwed up Aeriths iconic moment at the end. Sucked all the emotional aspect out of it for being far too flashy and over the top.

Cacabunga207d ago

Of course Nostalgia has something to do with it.
I finished the OG like 100times back in the day but as much as i loved it i really enjoyed the FF7R episode 1 very much. Seeing all these beloved characters so well detailed was a special moment, especially the NPCs. I always thought Jesse was a man in the OG i have no idea why.

I havent played ep.2 yet but i heard they outdid the first one!

gold_drake207d ago

me too i agree with you 100%

i mever wanted the remake to be a 1 to 1 thjng. cause i know the og better than any other game ive ever played.

CornholioX206d ago (Edited 206d ago )

FF7 Rebirth is definitely worth it. I finished it 100%. The only thing i'm gonna say is: The open world is not 100% made. My guess 65% and it's really big.

fr0sty206d ago

I didn't like remake better than the original, but rebirth I did. It was so well done... And they expanded on everything that I wanted them to.

victorMaje207d ago

My main gripe is the move away from turn based. I really think it would’ve been better had they not changed that.
The more I played the more I wanted it to be turn-based.

Goodguy01208d ago

Idk, still feel mixed about the remakes. I mean, better than an absolute mess I guess. I like em but it still feels like...an odd fan's fanfic.

Becuzisaid206d ago

They could've been awful like Dirge of Cerberus. I'll happily take what we got!

gold_drake207d ago

i love timeline shit, especially what they did with Sephiroth being the fking master of manipulation. it was very well done.

and people are still making theories about it, i love it

one gripe i have was the english translation, its a mess, im glad i played it in a different language the second run.

Becuzisaid206d ago

What don't you like about the translation? I thought the dialogue has been shockingly good. At least among the main cast. Side stories are always hot and miss.

gold_drake205d ago

i said translation, not dialogue. the dialogue is fantastic.

Lexreborn2207d ago

I absolutely love that they gave us something New with Rebirth and Remake. I played everything about 7 since 97 that’s nearly 30 years of me playing that variation with movies too.

Remake and Rebirth gave me that world in a fresh view and nice spin on the story.

The city of the ancients added so much to the calamity of Jenova and explained so much on why there even was bangles and swords without slots. Never REALLY payed attention to how much borrowed power was being used by the main cast and people.

Miraak82 207d ago

I loved the original but that love wasn't solely for the story , I loved the combat and materia system, the way it opened up after Midgar, the characters, the minigames and the awww of graphics it displayed at the time of their respective releases . The re:games are amazing and just reenforced all those things I liked about it while still keeping the story fresh .I like that it wasn't a 1:1 as they couldn't have incorporated the lore that was established in the FF7 Compilation if it was. Rebirth has one of my favorite battle systems

The third installment of FF7R will "take on the airship head-on."

At the G-STAR 2024 conference "G-CON 2024," Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase and Naoki Hamaguchi gave a talk on "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE" (FF7R), entitled "FINAL FANTASY VII: The challenges of creating a timeless game and its remake project.

I'm assuming they will remove fast travel if that's the case? I always wondered what the point of the airship would be if you can just fast travel like in Rebirth.

andy85221d ago

Islands I guess without towns for fast travel. I imagine it'll still be there. Using the airship will be fun but you'll get sick of it eventually and want an instant warp.

Tacoboto221d ago

Yeah - power to the players I'd say.

Elantregaless220d ago (Edited 220d ago )

They can do it just like FFXV.
You can fly around, and reach exclusive places. But you can also fast travel to non exclusive places.

jambola220d ago

ok ok
first time I've been super excited since finishing rebirth

dmonee220d ago

I’ve been playing dragon quest 3 remake. As i’m playing it, it’s making me wonder, “why didn’t square enix remake FF7 the way they dis to dragon quest?”

Michiel1989220d ago

because one has sprites and one has 3d models
