Elite Dangerous review | Post Arcade

PA:
Half a dozen two-hour sessions over the last week with the just-released Xbox One edition of Frontier Developments’ Elite: Dangerous left me gobsmacked at its scale, authenticity, and complexity.

Among the primary contenders in the suddenly exploding genre of massively multiplayer space flight simulation and exploration games, Elite: Dangerous turned heads when it arrived in beta on PC late last year, providing what its developers dubbed a 1:1 simulation of the Milky Way. Yeah. You read that right. The whole galaxy. All 400 billion star systems. In a downloadable game.

Good game. Too bad they stopped console support.

Seems a bit ridiculous that No Man's Sky was able to support all formats and this game couldn't. It didn't help that they were selling the game piece meal either. e.g. buy this expansion so you can walk on planets. I feel like the damage is done and they should probably shut the thing down.

The irony is No Man's Sky is what Elite used to be and can be played completely offline.

You can still get a good 200 to 300 hours out of it on console, but I agree with everything you posted. It's really a shame because I like the art so much better than NMS.
