No mention of the self censorship from Atlus? :/

LackTrue4K3262d ago

Sounds like a game with my taste for "game of the year"

gangsta_red3262d ago

You can always tell it's a Vita game by the over sexualized, hentai like characters displayed in the pic.

pivotplease3262d ago

Pretty much. I would love to see some more traditional RPGs hit the system. Something along the lines of Persona, Dragon Quest, Disgaea, Ys, KH, or FF. Not these games geared towards pedophilia. Sorry to insult anyone but those are the vibes these games give off.

dark-kyon3262d ago

The system is getting more traditional jrpg, but i know what you not care, you only want spread misinformation.for people what care.
-oreshika tainted bloodline
-operation abyss-new tokyo
-legend of heroes second chapter
-lost dimension
-cosmic star heroine

the-dragons-bane3262d ago

funny enough, every game series you just listed except KH, the vita has an installment or is getting one.

Spotie3262d ago

If that isn't both narrow-minded AND incorrect, nothing is.

And that's just the first few pages when going through N4G with tabs specifically on Vita. Anyone with eyes wide open and a simple observation could see that.

FarEastOrient3262d ago

@gangsta

There's a difference between your cherry picking of articles and the fact that you ignored the hundreds of other games that don't match your description.

_-EDMIX-_3262d ago

...because no other system has ever had this ever before.

gangsta_red3262d ago

Not as many as the Vita.

*Sigh*....

And the point isn't if any other system had these games before, you can just tell this game will be for the Vita just be looking at the pic.

rainslacker3262d ago (Edited 3262d ago )

Didn't MS have timed exclusivity on Record of Agarest War on the 360 for western release? Compile Hearts is pretty much about the same as this game. Then there was deathSmiles, Live for you, Otemedius, Sekai Renai Kikou, Xenoglossia.

Then theres Steins Gate, Chaos; Child, OniGiri, on the X1.

That's just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I didn't have to go hunting them down from hit-seeking articles that want to downplay the vita library.

I could do a list for PS3 or PS4 as well if you want.

Obviously, this stuff doesn't exist in abundance elsewhere. /s

I'm sure we could pull any pic from any game and make it look like any system only has one kind of game. It would be wrong to think that way, or to do that to misrepresent what the truth is.

But to look at it realistically, the reason they seem to appear on the Vita more is because they are inexpensive games to port, and they're the kinds of games that sell. Most of them(like 99% most) are not hentai, as abundant fan service =/= hentai.

Looking more realistically, ten articles all saying the same thing, does not mean that there are 10 separate games being released on the Vita that have this kind of content. In fact, most games on the Vita, do not have this kind of content.

@pivot

There are plenty of more traditional anime JRPG's on the Vita. Most of the ones you listed have a version on the Vita.

gangsta_red3262d ago

@rainslacker

"That's just the ones I can think of off the top of my head."

That's pretty impressive and just a tad bit creepy that you can name those types of games off the top of your head, because I never heard of any of those titles.

And (!!)ONCE AGAIN(!!) I am not arguing that there hasn't been any of these types of games on other systems. I am NOT saying that these are the only types of games on Vita.

I am saying that when I see these types of games, with that certain type of picture, I can automatically assume and more than likely be spot on that it's a game for the Vita.

_-EDMIX-_3262d ago

@Gangsta- "Not as many as the Vita" ??? Sooo you really think this is a new trend in Japanese gaming thats never happened before?

http://www.ricedigital.co.u...

Mind you...most of those games existed on PS2, MOST of them are actually made for the PC NOT the PS Vita. Even DS has some titles like that.

Your issue is your basing this off of N4G coverage as suppose to actually really researching where those games come from.

It tells me you have a very small view of the world from N4G view point.

Please....look outside of N4G..just for a bit to a really get what your talking about and what your assuming.

The most adult manga, anime type games have released on PC NOT handheld, not console. Most of them being adult manga interactive novels.

To hear something as childish as um.."not as many as the Vita" Oh...oh lolz, I see you have not known of this existing on PC.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Take a gander...educate yourself, whats funny, is its not even a complete list, its missing many, many entries. Its a HUGE genre in Japan. Vita is getting very, very little of those games too. The game on this article isn't even one of em, has some nudity yes, I wouldn't actually define it as an Eroge game.

gangsta_red3261d ago

"Sooo you really think this is a new trend in Japanese gaming thats never happened before"

Good Lord!! the comprehension on you guys is amazing?!

AGAIN, I am not saying these games have not appeared on any other system. I'm saying that when these articles pop up with that type of pic posted I can tell it's a game for the Vita handheld.

I mean seriously, I am not saying these types of games don't appear on the PC, PS2(?), Xbox, 3DS. But these articles for these types of games have been popping up more and more for the Vita handheld.

"Your issue is your basing this off of N4G coverage as suppose to actually really researching where those games come from."

Yes, I am.

I am not researching, making a report, getting to the bottom of this issue, checking the history of these types of games. I am making an observation based on what I am seeing on N4G. I made that completely clear when responding to Spotie with examples based off of the first few pages on N4G when the tab is set to Vita. I made that clear again when responding to you the first time, I said it AGAIN when I replied to Rainslacker.

Does this mean that these are the ONLY games on Vita, no. I never said that!

"I see you have not known of this existing on PC."

Hmmm, not knowing that adult manga, hentai type interactive games are abundant on PC makes me childish? Yea...I think I can live with that :)

"Take a gander...educate yourself, whats funny,..."

No thanks, I think I'll pass on educating myself with this type of sub genre. Maybe if I was 14 years old and just discovered cartoon boobs I may have taken a peek. What's funny is you actually trying to school me on hentai related games.

That's the funniest part about this whole conversation.

rainslacker3261d ago

@gangsta

LOL. I actually know a lot of anime games off the top of my head. I follow them pretty closely. Those are just the ones I knew had abundant fan service, some of them bordering on the overboard. I remember when I first played Agarest War I didn't know it was quite so provocative, but I did enjoy the game. Same with a couple other games. I think the reason I had them on the top of my head so much was that I did some research a few weeks ago for another comment, which is why they were so fresh in my mind.

Anyhow, I think these games get more promotion on the Vita, so I can see why you'd assume what you do.

A beginner's guide to first-person, party-based dungeon-crawlers on the PlayStation Vita

The PlayStation Vita has become a haven for RPGs, but there is one particular type that has really made itself at home on the system. People who love first-person dungeon-crawlers with turn-based battles and often customizable parties can find tons on the system. Developers like Experience and Compile Heart have taken to the system. This means people who enjoy level grinding and customizing characters have plenty of options to choose from when looking for a new game to play.

Ten essential dungeon crawlers for current platforms

Digitally Downloaded writes: "At DDNet, we do love a good Wizardry-style dungeon crawler. There is something classic and timeless about delving deep into a hive of monsters and traps, overcoming them bit by bit while developing an intricate map of the sprawl of corridors and rooms along the way."

I think you're missing Darkest Dungeon.

slinky1234563001d ago

Still upset Atlus sided with Nintendo for Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. I don't mind it's on 3DS, I mind it's not on any PS console cause the PS community are the ones that built the franchise and even made P4G a success on an unsupported system... then they decide to not give us Q but instead a dancing game *FACEPALM*

MattS3001d ago

A very good "dancing" game.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3001d ago

The developers are the developers of the Etrian Odyssey series which are exclusives to the Nintendo DS/3DS and which sole mechanci is drawing and constructing maps on the touch screen.

Such feature can not be replicated on Vita.

slinky1234563001d ago

Not owned by Nintendo though, Atlus could/should work on it from the dev or another to be on Vita instead of betraying the fans like such. And there has been hundreds of games where touch screen from the 3DS has been replaced with the Vita touch screen and back touch pad. Seen gameplay, easily portable.

MattS3000d ago

Please do explain how you make a game that actually needs two screens on a console that has one, Slinky.

It has nothing to do with the touch screen. It is the fact that the Etrian Odyssey mechanics require both the map and the "action" to be displayed - and interacted with - at the same time, at all times.

A map overlay, as other dungeon crawlers do on the Vita, would not work, as you wouldn't be able to draw on that while you played.

Review: Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal (DarkZero)

Dominic Sheard: "By now we all know that the word Vita means Life in Italian, and we can all make fun jokes about how Sony has abandoned the platform, but in Japan, it seems third parties love making games for the sleek device. Smaller publishers, such as Nippon Ichi USA and Atlus, are keeping the system alive in the Western world with niche Japanese games that find a small fan base in North America or Europe. Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal is the latest title published by the house of Disgaea, but unlike a few of Nippon Ichi USA's titles in the past, Dungeon Travelers 2 has hit our shores with quite a reputation, one where whoever has heard of the title and doesn't follow Japanese games closely has noticed about the sexual imagery that gives the title a negative aura, tainting what otherwise is a mechanically solid dungeon crawler that I had fun playing through."

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this game. The sexual content didn't bother me (though I do agree with their decision to purge some of the more hardcore loli stuff for the US release).

It's a fun dungeon crawler and has a ton of content. I put in a good 130+ hours to beat the main game, and the post-game stuff is almost as big as the main game!
