God Of War just like MS Gears Of War is their bread and butter plain and simple. The game sales, the game moves systems, period.

God Of War 3 remaster also makes sense because well GoW 3 was the last substantial GOW game, who'd a figured right? GoW 4 will get announced at E3. So why not put the last and greatest version on PS4? The console that allot of 360 fans bought this time around.

How come we don't get on MS or Nintendo for giving its fans its beloved characters.

This is necessary. I dunno bout the price tag but its still substantial.

MS doesn't remaster many games. And the key one they have done is Halo: MCC which was 4 games in one + all DLC.

Ms does not do this enough because they can't. They don't have that many franchises as is but if they did, they'd be dropping collections and remaster everywhere. But who really wants or needs Forza 2 when they're already prostituting that franchise annuannly.

Sony has been supporting 3 different consoles at once for a very long period of time. As a matter of fact, this is a feat that none of the other 2 competitors have managed to match, let alone surpass it. If you're supporting 3 different consoles at once (PS2, PS3, PSP) or (PS3, PS4, PS Vita) it makes absolute sense to make port the popular games over to the other consoles.

If a game was very popular on the PS3, why would a remaster of it for the PS4 be out of the question? And why would a PS Vita version not make sense?

If you've already played GOW3, then this game is not really being aimed at you. So thanks for expressing your concerns, but remasters are primarily made for new comers to the series or people who love the game enough to buy an upgraded version of it. If you don't fall into these categories, there's no need to crutch at your wallet and scream for help as if you're being robbed. It's ok, you this game won't force itself on you, it's not aiming for you, literally....

We're going to have 20 of these articles and as always with articles like these, 60% of the people that are up in arms about it doesn't even own the system that the dreaded, dirty money grubbing remaster is going to release on.

I guess they think if they mash their keyboards hard enough and come out with enough of these blog post, that the people that are actually excited about getting GOW games remastered for current systems won't be excited anymore.

First of all it's ODST.

Second of all, all halos have been different and new so they're different games, not remakes. The only remakes have been Halo anniversary collection, which was an ACTUAL remaster with a completely re-skin of the original. This means graphically redoing every single asset of the game for the new gen, not just up-scaling the resolution. PLUS it had Reach multiplayer with new maps, all for $40.

And let's not even get started about the insane value in Halo Masterchief collection, because I can go on for days.

And LASTLY, the article did not mention halo or xbox anywhere. Shows a lot of your insecurity that you had to bring it up for no reason. And this is coming from a God of war fan as well, GOW3 is an amazing game but charging $40 for a 5 year old game in HD is BS to me.

First of all as you can tell i dont really care if its ODST or SODT.
Secondly the "INSANE" value doesnt have anything to do with whether or not the franchise has been milked to death. There has been 6 iterations plus a remaster of halo, plus the new one thats due being the 8th. Im just pointing out the double standard of the article as i think the real "insecurity" comes from the author of the article and the xbox fans who rushed here to comment on how God of War is milked. Every GoW game has also been different except for this remaster. The only reason Halo was "ACTUALLY" remastered with a new skin is because some of those games were too old to sell to consumers (more than 10 years old i believe?). God of War III is a game that looks better than 95% of current generation games as is. They dont need to reskin it.

For the PS4 owners who used to own xbox 360s or just didnt get to play GoW III, $40 for GoW III is an "INSANE" value, trust me.

No I don't think you understand my point. Yes I agree the author did go to far in saying "God of milk", but he does have a point.

This is not about double standards, there can be as many halos as the company wants to release, and there can be as many God of wars as the company wants to release. You can't call it milking if each new halo game is an actual new game. Halo 4 came out in 2012, and Halo MCC came out in 2014. They could release a halo every year as long as there are major differences, like halo 5 which will be a new next gen game. NOTICE that the article doesn't count any of the ACTUAL God of war games like GOW3 and GOW Ascension. Because they're proper sequels. It simply talks about the milking of the remasters and collections, and damn I didn't' even know half of these were out there already.

But regardless, my point isn't about milking. My point is about the pricing and the standard that's being set for expensive games that are simple remasters. It's not an INSANE value for $40. Of course for the hardcore fans it would be insane...because they're hardcore fans! They're pay $60 even.

And it's also about value, it doesn't matter how old the original halo was. It takes a lot more work and resources to remaster Halo 1 with new graphics, than to just upscale GOW3 to 1080p 60fps. So it makes more sense to charge higher for something that took more work (eventhough $40 for the original halo remaster was also high I'd say).

They're welcome to make GOW3 remastered, and its great PS4 owners can play it because it's and amazing game, but it's worth $25-$30 IMO, no higher than that.

the issue isn't the fact that they're doing a remaster. It is their approach to it.

€40 for one game. They could have, at least bundled GOW3 and Ascension together.

Good for MS and Halo. There are people that see value differently. I don't care if MS bundled 20 Halo games and DLC with over 1,000 maps together because I'm not a Halo fan. But, I am a God of War fan, and getting the game on PS4 is right up my alley. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Forget that it's ok because it's Sony crap. GOW 3 is an awesome game, and people that missed out on it will have the chance to play it. On the other hand, people like me that played the crap out of it and wanted it for their current gen system will be able to buy it. It's for those people that see value in this remaster and are willing to put up the money for it. You don't see the value, that's understandable. You don't have to buy it.

Wow those disagrees, so obviously they are okay with Sony releasing two ps3 god of war games seperate. I'd imagine their target market are the ps4 adopters who didn't have a ps3. I think they've missed a beat here. If they included say ascension with gow3 in one package that would sweeten the deal for a lot of people that have already completed god of war and thus increase their target market. They could probably charge 50 dollars then. As it stands,a stand alone God of war is not appealing to me, once you finish the game there is no replay value and that's one of the problems people will have

GoW collections didn't have multiplayer components. Halo MCC Singleplayer modes were intact. Nice try tho'. How about that driveclub? it was only one game, versus 4 halo games each with their own online modes.

Well Fro if you're not going to buy it then I don't see your problem here. Get Halo or Borderlands if you find better value in those. It's nice that you value your opinion, but people that just want to play GOW3 on PS4 probably won't find much value your words as much as you seem to. ^_^

Remasters are for the following:

1. Introduce the series to NEW fans
2. Introduce the series to PS4 owners that didn't have the PS3
3. Give the development team a chance to work on the hardware by porting a pre-existing game

Any sales they make from hardcore fans who want to experience the game again is a bonus.
