Why FF7 won't come to the PS3

They`ve already been working on it. I could be almost done for all we know and could come out before FF13 or FF13V. It would be GREAT promo for those games.

FVII is a lock for PS3 but probably wont arrive until probably 2010 or later. Why ?

Well its simple, the FXIII Versus team are currently helping FXIII guys complete that version of the game so it can launch and then move back on versus to get that out of the way.

After they finish with those two title, they split them team up and have some of them work on FFVII for PS3 and KH3 for Wii( and maybe PS2).

Also, this article offered nothing new except a bunch of what if and nothing concrete at all.

I bet it will come this gen. Maybe late in the PS3s life, but that could be in 2011 or 2012. They have plenty of time and I am sure they want to get as much out of the Crystal Tools as possible. A new playstation is a ways away hopefully.

The guy does make some valid points, but it's not that FF7 won't come to PS3 at all, it'll just take a while. But yeah Square Enix starts up way too many projects at once, although I expect Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery are almost complete so they may be able to reroute their resources.

I personally don't see it as that unlikely that FFVII could show up on PSN... there's enough time between now and FFXIII. Not a remake, just a downloadable version. They must know that everyone wants it, and to announce secret FFVII news just to tease their fans and then NOT give them what they want seems like a mistake to me. Maybe what this guy said was true, that that would generate outrage and shock which would still be good publicity, but to me that sounds like a long shot that they set out to knowingly disappoint and outrage everyone, just for publicity, which is obviously a risk they don't need to take.

and that is a pretty big IF, it would certainly have to be downgraded a bit from the demonstration video's that were showed last year. Since mulit-console videogames have to be developed for the lowest common-denominator (which of course I can never see a future with a FFVII remake for the WII, which makes the LCD the xbox 360) it would not live up to its potential.

Please SquareEnix, DON'T release it for the 360 and really make it everything that you want it to be.

Holy crap I totally forgot about that. I am looking at my original copy of Final Fantasy VII right now and the SCEA Logo is clearly displayed in the lower-right corner of the front of the jewel case. FFVII remake going to xbox 360 is as likely as Master Chief making a comeback on the PS3.

I'm not hating on this game, I don't know where it is you see that. Just adding an opinion about the game, most of the people I know who play these games are female. Who is this fruitcake? Square-Enix has stated last year that they would not touch FFVII until FFXIII and Versus is finalized. If and when they do make it, they want to put the full company behind it as they said they can not afford to half-ass the project. It would be on the most important remakes they have period.

Yup I think everything was rendered at that time. Sony didn't give the know how for the PS3 until a couple months before the release because not even Sony had finalized the specs or development kit.

I agree with you. FFVII is an great game, but I think most people now look at it through rose tinted glasses which elevates it to some mythical status. Much of the story was weak or poorly told and the characters were fairly stereotypical even for that time (although the game's ability to create an emotional attachment to the characters has rarely, if ever, been bettered).

However FFVII marked a watershed for RPG's in many ways, so it is fondly remembered, and rightly so, as a classic.

A remake would be sweet, but I'd really like a 'reimaging' where they address all the faults, and perhaps re-write some of it.

He basically bases the no it wont be announced on the fact that SE is doing to many high profile PS3 games right now? All right then who is to say they wont release a remake for Xbox 360 as well as PS3. While this is very unlikely SE made it clear that the Crystal Tools does support cross platform. Honestly I think it may be more of a chance that SE is announcing FFVII-2 as anyone who played Dirge and got the hidden ending knows they did indeed set it up for another game that would end up taking place after Dirge. Either way if they are going to be announcing whatever it is at the party is August we don't have to wait to long. We will have a ton of news from E3 in the meantime so everyone just needs to calm down and see what the future holds.

I'm just curious as to how in the hell do you think I'm a PS3 skeptic? I know what the PS3 is capable of. Folks have a huge problem with the specs of the PS3 and comparing it to a standard computer especially when it comes to how it handles RAM and all the so called bottlenecks.

Now as for majority of the things that were shown in E3 that year were demos like Killzone 2. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that at the time. Why? The PS3 specs and the dev kits weren't even finalized.

Why do you think the first year was extremely slow for game releases? Developers didn't have a clue as how to program for the Cell. Most 3rd party titles were relying on the PPU vs PPU/SPUs. I'm going to guess you forgot about all the crappy 3rd party ports.

From my picture you see what systems I own. But by far I'm not fanboy. I support Sony as I have since PS1. So don't let you make that mistake again by wrongly accusing me of something you have no clue about. Sony isn't perfect by no means. But to me it is by far the best system of this generation (this is MY opinion).

Also, check my other posts about FF7 and the PS3 and see who can't wait for the remake with other RPGs period.

There is no fcuking way Square Enix making this game now. The thing is they are too busy, there are other things, like the only console capable of FFVII we want (Advent Children looking graphics) is PS3 and Square has been allocating huge budget in PS3 games, unless FFXIII and Versus are super successful Square Enix will never make a proper FFVII game on PS3, I'd say PS4 or Wii2(if good enough hardware).

I think that FF7 remake should be done on the next Sony console (PS4) because if they are going to redo an entire game, the PS4 will be pushing enough power to render Crysis-like graphics, which will ultimately bring an authentic and real feeling to the game. Most homes have at least one console, back when FF VII came out there was no-where near the install base of now.

They would be idiots not to, really the only question is: which platform will it sell best from a world wide view point? They will only develope this for one console and as I only own one console of this generation, I hope it is the PS3.

We'll get an announcement of a remake sooner or later. It might not be at E3 or the DKS event but I'd expect them to release this game eventually. It just makes sense to me. They've already remade every Final Fantasy game under the sun, why not the most popular one? It's true that right now their teams may be too busy (then again you never know if production started long ago on it), but honestly that Tech Demo just seems strange to me. I understand they were trying to show off the power of the PS3 and generate hype and all that... but don't you find it slightly odd that they'd 'tease' fans with that? If you ask me that was a subtle hint of what's to come.

Also, that demo probably was not using an in-game engine at that time. But I have no doubts that the PS3 is capable of producing such graphics. If you look at games like MGS4 and Uncharted that are already released and think that this game's likely a ways off... it should easily achieve what was shown.

Of course as always we'll just have to wait and see. In my opinion though, Square-Enix would be stupid not to! A remake wouldn't be as difficult as making a whole new game since the story and various elements are already set up for them. All they'd probably need is some tweaking. To me it's easy money. Not just easy... but potentially MASSIVE amounts of money. I think that they can see that too.

Final Fantasy 7 won't be here for a very long time. S-E must first release the two FF13 games and then concentrate on a FF7 remake and that takes 3-4 years of development. We still need a new (next gen) Kingdom Hearts before we get FF7.

tru tru but remember they did release resident evil parts 1,2,and 3 for the nintendo gamecube and sony had a copyright of that game, so it might be on 360 but heres hope not. if anything they shold at least release the original as a playstation store download ill definitly get, that with resident evil 1,2, and 3.
