I'm so excited for this game! Hype for days!

I'm preparing for the onslaught of "Dawn of the Final Day" meme's that are going to flood the internet when we're up to October 2nd.XD

I have had the game since Monday and I adore it. Characters feel so good and I am surprised by how much I enjoy Smash Run. Cannot wait to meet you guys online sometime!

Yeah think I'll hold out for the console version

wonderfulmonkeyman3912d ago

If you don't have the cash, I can understand why.
If you do, though, then you're missing out on valuable practice time.

I havent got the cash but I could scrape some together if I wanted

I just don't think I could play something like this on a handheld. I'd rather get the full experience with the actual console version. In my opinion I just see it as an appetiser to the Wii U version.

Plus I don't know how much practice you would get since the controls would be different and fee it, having a Gamecube controller or the Gamepad in your hand is different then holding a 3DS.

I think they would of been better off focusing on the console version first, then do this a year or so later to give us more Smash Bros goodness instead of lumping them together

That is exactly why I bought a 2DS. I need to get practice in before the Wii U version drops in Nov.

I was going to pass up on the 3DS version, but I heard too many positive reactions with this. This will hold me up before Omega Ruby.

wonderfulmonkeyman3912d ago

I used to think the same as you, but then I tried the demo.
Getting used to the controls was a snap, and aside from the size of the controller, the game pad's button placement isn't that far off from the 3DS, nor does the slide pad feel too drastically different from the analog stick.

Trust me; the transition between the two, let alone to any other controller, after having practiced on the 3DS, isn't a big leap, let alone one that's difficult to get used to.
At the very least, download the free demo, and use that to learn the attack patterns and capabilities of the fighters on offer in it.
Any bit of practice helps.

I'm holding out, too, because I'm on a somewhat limited budget (I just had a little baby). So I went with Hyrule Warriors instead. I'll wait for the Wii U version of Smash.

I mean, if I have money for two games, I'd rather they be really different from each other. While the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash aren't exactly the same, they're similar enough for me to comfortably pass up on the handheld one while I wait on the (probably) bigger version. :)

To me smash brows Melee is my all time favorite. I can't tell you how many hours I played that game between friends and family. When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a gaming console so I had to go somewhere that had an arcade like setup with the only difference being instead of arcade cabinets, they had big screen crt TV's and gaming consoles setup. I would go with my friends on special occasions after school or with my family on the weekends.

I would meet and make new friends at that place as we were all gamers and we also brought our game boys and would trade pokemon. I don't think those places exist these days but back then, it was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun for hours.

Well, I’ll add my extremely subjective ranking too. I won’t include the 3DS version as I don’t owned it. I did play it for a few minutes though.

5. Brawl.
4. N64 Smash
3. Ultimate
2. Wiiu Smash
1. Melee

Yup Ultimate for me BY FAR is my favorite.

Ten Overdue Fighters for Smash Bros.

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "While the future of Smash Bros. has been uncertain for a while - whether Nintendo will build on Ultimate or bring us a new entry entirely - within all likelihood a new Nintendo system still means something new for Smash Bros. is on the horizon, and that something will almost certainly include new fighters, however many or few. While this might be the gaming article equivalent of putting up Christmas decorations in October, it’s never too early to start speculations when it comes to Smash Bros. before two thirds of everything inevitably gets leaked ahead of time. Keep in mind that this is not a list of predictions for future newcomers, though a few could perhaps fit in that same category, but rather a small list of the characters that in this writer’s humble opinion are overdue an appearance in the gaming crossover to end all crossovers."

Playing Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS in 2021

Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "The release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch made playing Smash 4, on either system a thing of the past. But for today’s piece, I wanted to revisit the 3DS version of the previous generation of Smash Bros., to see how it holds up and see if time has changed my opinion on the first portable Smash Bros. game."
