What I and others would actually like to know is if Silent Hills will be a Sony exclusive or will it be multi-platform? I'm not interested in theories or guesses because I have my own "theory," - (Since the demo wasn't released on any other playform, and there hasn't been any news of the game being made for any other platform, I can only assume that Sony is in talks with Konami working out an exclusive deal. If it winds up being a Sony exclusive, it will be a major addition to the PS4 library. Definite system seller if it is exclusive.)

Abriael3952d ago

I don't really know. Something tells me it might be exclusive, maybe just temp.

toddybad3952d ago

Who cares as long as I can play it?

strangeaeon3952d ago

My guess is that it will not be an exclusive. Also, why did you put an entire paragraph in parentheses?

HanzoHattori3952d ago

Because my theory is just as relevant as yours. I could also ask a question of you; Why didn't you put an entire paragraph in parentheses?

scark923952d ago

Yes imo it would be a system seller, but I really doubt its exclusive.

geddesmond3952d ago

Yeah it is very odd how no other platform release has been discussed. How the information about the game has only come from Sony conferences and PS4 only got the playable trailer. However if this was a PS exclusive Sony would be shouting that out everywhere unless Kojima told Sony to be quit as to avoid backlash from the gaming community.

Only time will tell.

Elimin83952d ago

Speak for yourself. Just release it already.

I'm wondering if this is that game "insane" that was mentioned about 2-3 years ago at E3

Majin-vegeta3952d ago

Yea I brought that up when it was announced.Insane was a PS3 exclusive and if this is the aftermath. Then no doubt I believe it is exclusive to PS4.Hope we find out soon.

360ICE3952d ago

I would probably doubt that. One of the major things with FOX engine was flexible, easy multi platform development.

Also, FFXV is not exclusive. Yet, it stems from the FF Versus XIII which was.

That being said, just having P.T. be exclusive turned out to be kind of a big deal. It really stole the post-Gamescom conversation. I'd be surprised if Konami just neglects the Xbox audience, but we'll see.

greenlantern28143952d ago

That is probably right. Del-Toro was attached to that project and now this one. I don't think he would be making 2 games at once.

DarkOcelet3952d ago

Its gonna be beautiful . P.T story was interesting and very mysterious so i expect this to be really good .

CorndogBurglar3952d ago

Also, lets not forget that Kojima is a Sony fanboy. I know that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be on Xbox One, considering Metal Gear games have been released on other systems in the past, including MGS Ground Zeroes and MGS5.

But its still worth mentioning that if Kojima had his way, I'm willing to bet it would be PS4 exclusive.

I'm indifferent. I think making a game exclusive is a bad idea, almost anytime its done. All ot does is lowers sales for a game that could have sold many more copies if it was on more than one system. Although I'm sure Sony and Microsoft pay these companies a lot to make them exclusives anyway, so the companies aren't exactly hurting from it.

The only people that are effected by it are the gamers that just so happened to buy the system the game won't be on.

SmielmaN3952d ago

Kohima definitely has a Asian bias for his games and characters, but I think the only way this is exclusive to PS4 is if Sony has been funding the game. Since there's been no official word either way I'm not too worried. I'm a PS4/wii U guy now and I'll just be happy with a kick ass silent hill game that has my fav game creator, one of my fav directors/artist, and he star of my fav tv show :).

I think we can all be happy that such a collaboration is being made by these three ppl

SmielmaN3952d ago

*Kojima.
...
Dammit... Lol

tablecloth3952d ago

He would probably go for PS4 indeed.
But that can be understood since focusing on 1 platform you can bring out the most of your game without sacrificing resources and ideas.

If any game were to be made for high end PCs, you would have to sacrifice a lot for consoles porting and risk about resources spend vs sales. Of course making games to every platform available is good, but there are always sacrifices because of that.

CorndogBurglar3952d ago

My big question is whether or not Silent Hills will be 3rd person or first person perspective.

I'm leaning toward 1st person, simply because I find it hard to believe that they would release a playable teaser and NOT make the game the same way. What is the point of the playable teaser if it isn't showing what the final product will be like?

"Hey everyone! Play this teaser of the Silent Hills game we're coming out with! The game won't be anything like this and it will even be a different genre, but play this pointless teaser that we spent all this time on!"

What sense would that make? What exactly would the playable teaser be for if it isn't showing off the game?

Fishy Fingers3952d ago

I hope it's first person, in this setting it's far more engrossing.

cr33ping_death3952d ago

It was made as an alternative way of revealing a game.... relax buddy

Kyosuke_Sanada3952d ago

Maybe it will have both first and third person views. It's not impossible and I would like to have both...

Sideras3952d ago

Using the likeness of Norman Reedus would be pretty redundant if it was first person.
And Silent Hill should be in third person imo.

CorndogBurglar3952d ago

Redundant means to do the same thing over and over again. So putting Norman Reedus in a first person perspective would be the opposite of redundant. Looking at him nonstop for the entire game would be redundant.

But regardless, i've seen this argument before and the simple answer is the fact that cutscenes will show him plenty.

Fans of Silent Hill games know there are plenty of times where there is talking and story being show/explained. If this is a FPS style game then these moments will almost certainly be done with cutscenes. Again, people don't need to see Norman Reedus' face every second of the game in order for him to get recognized. Its not like he would even be acting when you're just moving him around the environment anyway.

UnwanteDreamz3952d ago (Edited 3952d ago )

If its not in 3rd person its not SH. It could still be great but it would not be a SH game. I agree that using Normans likeness makes no sense unless its 3rd person. Ive been a fan of the original games since thier respective releases. This is just my opinion as a fan of the original concepts and style of gameplay that Team Silent used in their games.

I have to emphasize that this is an extremly well made remake, it's the full game with all the content and features plus more. Visuals and sound is very close to the original, this version was recently published. I know there's a lot of predjudice against Dreams, which is a shame and not really deserved, the tool is much more capable than many think.

fr0sty253d ago

Just a reminder that Dreams is free on PS+ Premium... if you have it, go download it, and thank us later. It's a truly fantastic game.

I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.

Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.

bfrye26611d ago

Normally, we would not consider it a different game (Restless Dreams), but since it had a very different critical reception and had new content, it was allowed. As for Downpour, I would agree, but since that one is subjective, we let him make his case for the placement.

gold_drake610d ago

silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.

for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.

CrimsonWing69610d ago

No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.

bfrye26609d ago

We agree, that is why the writer put it in top place!
