Why the First Contact War is the Best Direction for Mass Effect

"Rumors are swirling all around about the next entry in the epic RPG series, Mass Effect. They are of course working hard on the next installment, but other than its existence no one really knows much of anything definitive. However, a recent Easter Egg on Twitter has revealed that the next entry could be titled Mass Effect: Contact. The thing is with this Mass Effect universe the possibilities are endless I just dont want another big war setting, lets scale it down a bit and have the game reflect the awe, wonder and discovery that is this universe

The first contact war has been done in a comic and in the movie what is being made.

This is meant to be a new trilogy and using a ear that only lasted 3 months is not a good idea.

If they "sequel"...Shepherd is dead (died a matyr) and then probably the races split and have a civil war again 1,000 years later or something.

But this evidenence is pointing to a prequel.

That is actually an awesome idea. The Protheans were dictators, so it would be pretty nice to play a game where you play one of the "lesser" races trying to stand up to them. Waaaay before the Prothean - Reaper debacle, of course.

EA should ast forward another 1,000 years and do a new re-imagining.

IIRC the mass effect relays were destroyed, so technically they can create a new story with Humans once again reach the Citadel 1000 years later but this time without short cuts.

Male Shepard never survived.... Never survived a few minutes of dialogue and made me question how anybody actually thought it was good.

Then i discovered Fem Shep who can actually deliver a vocal performance and managed to thwart all the threats within her path twice.

Not sure what ending will be the official "cannon" ending but the relays get destroyed so super fast space travel is no longer possible.

It would be interesting being in the future and discovering the citadel again but completely different with a new character. Perhaps even a new civil war between humans and aliens.

No prequels! Just... no. They already talked about the First Contact War between Humans and Turians for a long time and they even made comics that featured an important character during that incident.

I want to see the future after ME3. I want to see Yahg being one of the strongest species in the universe as previously hinted. I want new alien species that would replace Salarians, Turians, and Asaris. Do whatever with the main protagonist (Make him have deep customization like different races but not necessary for me but would be great to have)

I wouldn't mind the first contact war. They spent a lot of time crafting the history and backstory of the Mass Effect universe and I would prefer to stay in that universe instead of jumping far ahead. Yes we did read a lot of the first contact war in ME games, but only what happened on the bigger scale and not what happened on the smaller scale for the soldiers. We all read a lot of WW2 in school and know everything about it on a bigger scale yet there are many great movies set in that time that focus on the smaller scale of things.

Why are people so opposed to a something that took place before the original trilogy. Considering the number of races at place, or the course of so much time, there's no way we should be claiming to already know what will happen.

Hmmm, honestly don't care what it's about, as long as it reads Mass Effect, plays like Mass Effect, I will buy it, and I cannot wait to do so. This and any new Fallout game will always be my most highly anticipated titles until they stop making them, and I curse the day.

The beauty of the Mass Effect games is the fact there is so much stuff they can do.
The first contact war. Meh. We already know about it. A full game dedicated to that?
They could go back 100,000 years or farther. And play as one of the past races that dealt with the reapers or a totally different enemy.
