Top Cancelled Games That Should Be Remade For The PS4

"You know, it’s no secret that many games have been cancelled in the past. Some of those games had the potential to be a AAA experience but for some reason or the other, those ideas were thrown out. That is the way the industry works, because after all it’s a business."

We all know if The Getaway 3 ever had to exist it would've been to GTA-ish seeing thats what fans would've wanted.

Man, would be awesome to see The Getaway and Star Wars 1313 on PS4. Though, BloodRayne didn't make the list, it was a lot of fun too...would like to see it on PS4 as well!

I forgot all about Project offset, but I always knew PO would never come out on the PS3 or X360. PO appeared to be beyond both systems capabilities at the the time. Fractiv LLC is the name of the company that made PO demo, they actually licensed their game engine for the game Firefall. I do think Sony should make Getaway 3 for the PS4, thought the demo looked pretty nice and GW2 was decent but not great back in the day.

Project Offset!! Thank you, I have been trying to remember the name of that one, I was so excited about it but it just vanished.

I think technology now is capable of rendering Project Offset. In 2006 no way graphics processors had the rendering grunt to run this vaporware demo at HDTV resolution with AA. Look at Crysis, took about 4 years before single graphics cards could render that Crysis at max settings around 60 FPS.

My old Nvidia GTX 670 was the first graphics card I own that could rendering Crysis at 60 FPS with AA 2012. In 2010 my AMD 6970 got close, around 50 FPS without AA max settings.

I loved the first one sooo mu h, would love a new game or even a remake would awesome tbh.

Bring it back Sony!!!

Mark Hammond. What a great game. It was much better than part 2. This game defined what true next gen was to me back in that generation, it's definitely due for a remake.

Excellent game, Black Monday wasn’t too good but the first one was amazing. The way the waypoint system worked with car indicators and the healing mechanic leaning against the wall. Loved it.

This game looked so good back in the day. Still holds up well even now. Could you imagine what a PS5 remake would look like?

How PlayStation’s The Getaway managed to outdo, yet fail against, GTA 3

The ambitious PS2 action game is still revealing secrets to this day.

Orchard504d ago (Edited 504d ago )

I loved the Getaway. Its controls are/were a bit dated and hard to use, but playing what is basically GTA in London was really cool. Such a great setting for a criminal underground gangster game. I like that it flipped between the cops and the criminals.

Sequel was good too, and the tech demo they released for PS3 with Amsterdam as an extra setting looked great. I was pretty disappointed when it got canned.

The Getaway was great. It felt unlike anything else. I'd really love to see Sony revive the franchise. GTA is taking longer and longer between releases. So it would be nice to play through other open world crime games while we wait. Sony can revive The Getaway. MS can revive True Crime. Saints Row is finally coming back this year too.

KeyAppearance504d ago (Edited 504d ago )

man, would love more contemporary action crime games, open-world or not. The matrix awakens demo makes me want those a lot more now, the possibilities of a good action game with those visuals.

TheColbertinator504d ago

The Getaway had some ideas. Sony was stupid for scrapping the series

Germaximus504d ago (Edited 504d ago )

I always forget about this one. Played a bunch and loved it but never beat it. Never understood why this is one they never ported to new gen or even remade/rebooted

Got AC Unity for free when Notredame burned. Story never compelled me to finish it but man I played it two or three times because of the city and the fluid parkour

PrimeVinister926d ago

Once it was largely bug-free the environment was really easy to appreciate. And the old-AC-style parkour was at its peak here and in Syndicate.
