Titanfall – Respawn on Pilot-Only Modes, ‘We’ll See What Happens After Launch’

MP1st - Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment hints at the possibility of a Pilot-only mode post-launch, despite previous statements.

I would like to see a mode with 12v12 human players. Each team would have 6 pilots and 6 engineers. Only the pilots could call in Titans, but would have no heavy weapons. Engineers couldn't call in Titans, but would have heavy weapons to take them on. Then, eliminate the Grunts and only have Spectres for the AI (actually, there might be enough action to eliminate all the AI). As it is now, there are just too many bots and not enough human players. I think this type of mode would really open up the gameplay plus there still wouldn't be more than 12 Titans on a map at a time (which Respawn thinks is the ideal number).

I want to see a 1 titan mode, where each team clamours to complete enough objectives to release the one and only titan in the match. Those of you who played the beta will know, having a titan in no way whatsoever guarantees a win.

To be honest that's the only mode I play only went for online vs 3 times went back to online co op started playing on normal and hard for a more tasty experience its tough.

I remember that a mode called "Pilot Hunter" was leaked based on the Titanfall BETA files, but that maybe could be referencing Titans hunting down Pilots, I'd assumed it was a Pilot Only mode. Oh well, Attrition was my favourite mode and the Titans were a blast to play with the limited weaponry we had, can't wait for the full game!

Yes, only with wall running and jet packs and no PlayStation version so...better.

First of all Respawn owns the IP, and EA is there publisher, so yeah Playstation of Titanfall 2 incoming bro :)

What's the point of a no titans mode in TITANfall? I understand the complaints about 12 players being max and can sort of see where people are coming from with no ai but no titans? Perhaps a 16 player game with it could work as it wouldn't effect the game balance but still, don't like titans? stick to call of duty.

eh its just a game mode and the entire dynamics of gameplay change when there are no titans.

They should really add vehicles to this great game. All those ships you see in the sky. Why not maneuver them?

Titans should be the only vehicle to use. Besides the sprinting perk and wall jump makes it fun fast and easier to get from A to B. The ghosts maps are stupid big and would benefit from vehicles.

How's about they don't turn Titanfall into.... Let's say, CoD, or BF. I know it's novel, but how about when you really want to play those games - you just go right ahead and do that..

Let Titanfall be something fresh and enjoy the experience rather than an identikit of a totally stagnant game...

Yeah i thought about this but i think a pilot only mode would suck. With the jet packing, cloaking, wall running, wall hanging and vertical aspects of the game, there would be a lot of camping! And I've had enough of that from playing ghosts! I didn't like the idea of the bots but after playing the beta I saw why they did it. There pretty much is no reward for camping in this game and that's what I like about it.

The game doesn't even play closely to COD. People are just jealous that they don't have a Xbox or PC. You can't judge a game over gameplay or graphics.

I think TF w/o titans is kinda lame as the Titans I feel make the game the most fun. Ripping somebody out of their titan or jumping on somebody's Titan from behind and blowing it up is kind of fun. What they really need to do is make the bots not in the way of the main action and make the modes for those huge maps at least 8v8. Just limit the amount of titans at once to 6v6 so you dont have more than that perfect 12 number at one time. I think the other modes are perfect domination is great since your focused on another goal and forces face to face combat to get points. Last Man Standing I believe is fun as well probably my most enjoyed mode. They could use another Titan only game mode that is based off lives. Maybe 2-3 Titan calls per person would be another great addition until 1 team has no Titan's left.
